agreed, this has less to do with the park being dangerous and more with people just being ignorant. The stupidest thing one can do is turn their back on a wild animal, or wander into an area they know absolutely nothing about.
In 1979 or so, my dad and two sisters went on a driving trip out West from Toronto, and returned through the northwest US. We went through Yellowstone, and saw a pool beside the highway with beautiful mineral deposits of many different colours, and thought we'd take a look. My oldest sister went too close, and out of nowhere, bubbles started forming, rising to the surface, and popping, spraying boiling hot water along the shore, hitting my sister, giving her 2nd degree burns. The pond went from absolutely calm to bubbling in about 5 seconds, leaving no time to react.
I went back in 2011 and did some research before we got there. It's not possible to miss the signs if you're looking but I did see a lot of people just staring at their phones as they walked. I kept my 2 year old glued to me. I had one of those child leaches too just in case she tried to run. I wasn't taking any chances.
There was a guy in Pennsylvania who filmed a politician's suicide at the Capitol building and did nothing to intervene. Was thinking about how much he could earn from the footage.
I'm 53yrs old. I live very close to Yellowstone... I have visited many times in my life... I have never once thought of getting off the boardwalk to get closer to Hot Spring. I've never thought about petting a buffalo or getting too close to a moose or close to Bear cubs. The thought has never crossed my mind. I guess you have to grow up in the area to know that it's not only beautiful but dangerous. To show it the respect it deserves. Not like these turon's.
His body dissolved 😢.. omgee that wasnt smart to do but that was someones son and brother ... Imagine the pure heartbreak and continued heartache.. That is awful.
Kay Powe idk how he could have passed without comman sense of reading or seeing danger signs or listening to the people that tell you not to go off trail
Ryan Mullins Nah, BRUH. I actually saw someone try that with a pack or Ramen noodles. They just chucked the damn thing across the fence into one of those pools. Pretty sure it actually cooked too, but it started to disintegrate after a while because of the acid in the water. They totally got yelled at by one of the Rangers though. Cooking anything in those waters is a bad idea. Yellowstone smells TERRIBLE due to the amount of sulfur in the water and around the pools. XD Noodles cooked there would probably be terrible. Hahaha!
My family and I went to Yellowstone, back in 1985. Morning Glory still had its beautiful blue hue, didn't see much wild life, except for economy-sized chipmunks looking for handouts, and Old Faithful erupted on a cloudy day, so the spray blended right in, with the clouds. Oh, and yes; we were warned to stay on the boardwalk, at all times. Aside from the air reaking of rotten eggs, it was an interesting visit. I was a teenager, then. (Dating myself, I know.)☺
Closest my father came to that was when jumped wire fence into private property in Puerto Rico to get some plantain leaves, and barely escaped being mauled by a pack of guard-dogs. He had been warned but tried it anyway,
TooSweetVlogger: You can't live your life worrying about a super volcano going off. If that were to happen, it just might spell the end of life as we know it on at least half this country, and into Canada, and maybe into Mexico. Staying home won't save you.
A Talentless Idiot: Yes, there is. But if that thing ever blows, the country as we know it might be over - at least half of it anyway. Atmosphere filled with ash, and no sunlight, and planet life and animals dying from starvation and freezing temperatures. It would be like one of those big budget disaster movies.
Me and my family were cornered behind trees by an elk. When we finally got out of there there was a women still stuck behind a tree. It was very traumatizing as a child. We had to go tell a park ranger.
Skilled engineers & geologist know all about ground safety, what to look for, how stable land foundation is at particular points, erosion, etc. Takes a professional team and luckily, we can enjoy the landscape via their skills to keep us safe. Now if only people will follow the rules!
Stupidity had been bred into people. I was at the park when I was 12. My parents were not with me. Never once did I ever think about leaving the boardwalk.
I remember hearing a story about a guys dog jumping into a hot springs and he jumped in after it trying to save it. He got right out and got massive burns all over and ended dying
Maybe footsteps touching the ground directly disturb it more than on the boardwalk? Assuming that too much pressure isn’t put onto it? I don’t know. It’s probably still dangerous. I’m guessing that the boardwalk is the only “safest” alternative. You might be less likely to fall in on the boardwalk than the actual ground?
My family went there in 1978. It's extremely beautiful and terrifying at the same time! I'm curious - how did they build the decking? It's not just lying on the surface so what's holding it up? Seems like wood at extreme temperatures would degrade. How could they put forms in order til fill with cement or even steel? How were they able to hook them together if they couldn't stand on it in the first place? I seriously would like to know if anyone can explain😉 i remember it smelled horrible like rotten eggs on steroids😝
We just went to Yellowstone and my 3 year old tripped and accidentally fell off the boardwalk. I almost had a heart attack. I'm glad he was okay but I do think investing in some more railings along the boardwalk would be wise.
Stupid people cannot think of anything else except themselves, selfish getting too close to wild animals, and then if the animals attack, it's the animals' faults. I secretly wish all those ignorant tourists suffer consequences from their actions, not the animals or have a chance to sue the park.
Ikr. It makes me sad seeing these poor wild animals. They did nothing to these people. If ya get to close to bad. It's not the animals fault it's yours.
All those people who died because they went near animals or a GEYSER deserved it, why would you go off of a track meant to keep you safe? Or why go near a bear or wild buffalo?
This is not a brand new problem. People of been dying to Yellowstone for years there’s even a book out written 20 years ago. I think the title is 360 ways to die at Yellowstone. It listed 360 deaths. Not just humans but their pets. Dogs don’t understand the hot water and they jumped out of the truck and jump into the hot water and Die immediately
Great! People getting chased by wild animals, people dissolving in hot springs, people falling to their deaths, and to add up a giant volcano in Yellowstone that can explode at any moment! Scary place!
......HOW did that man walk that far in flip flops and then fall in? I still feel bad that someone died like that but no railing will stop determined stupidity.
Well there were warning signs and people should learn to read and use common sense
