As an 80s kid. I was the same age as Carol Anne when thus came out. Double feature with Annie scarred me. All Carol Annes toys I HAD in MY CLOSET. Especially the dollhouse. Every little girl had that house. And I had a clown. Yet I wanted JoBeth Williams to be my mom. 😆 🤣 😂
Lol I was Heather's age too. Hehe. Sadly though I grew up in a single mom household so I didn't have the dollhouse or many of the other toys. I did have that lil robot from poltergeist 2 that robbie had, the one that gets possessed n says,"hello little one, I am yur friend, we want the angel." Lol.
I was four years old when this came out my mom took me and my older brother to see it in theaters she also took us to see The Thing the same year, I think this is the reason I hate clowns, I am not scared of them I just think they are evil.
My father knew Will Sampson during the Vietnam era. My dad was in the Marine Corps and between tours he was stationed in San Diego. Sampson also hung out with Jay Silverheels (Tonto). My dad (who was Northern Arapaho, as am I) told me of a time when he went to Los Angeles and Sampson got him a part as an extra in a movie, where he was with a group of other extras, all Arabs, riding over a sand dune on a soundstage. My dad said they got $15 a day, which was pretty good for the mid-60s. I asked him what movie it was and he coudln't remember. I thought it might be Lawrence of Arabia, but that came out in 1962. Anyway, he said they did multiple takes, but they would all switch costumes, head pieces that included a turban with a beard attached and do it again; the purpose being so it would look like there were a lot more in the group than there really was. He said they partied a lot back then and he learned not to bring any women close to Silverheels, as he'd steal them away every time. My dad didn't have a very vivid imagination so I have no doubt that this really happened, or something close to it.

Knowing what happened to Dominique Dunne and Heather O'Rourke, respectively, makes the more emotional scenes harder every time I watch it. I even feel similar about Poltergeist III, although with that film, it's just plain sad.
In 1982 my parents saw Poltergeist in the theater. I was 2 years old. That night they woke up to me screaming bloody murder and ran into my room and couldn’t find me! I had somehow fallen in between the headboard of my bed! They freaked out more since they had just watched a film about a little blonde girl disappearing to another realm! I was a little blond girl! Creepy stuff! Anyway, RIP to all the amazing actors who died!

This is the first time I've heard of this urban legend. The tragic passing of Heather actually struck me quite profoundly because I, myself, was diagnosed with Chron's when I was seven back in 82. Fortunately it wasn't a misdiagnosis, but it had compounded a lactose intolerance that was only discovered literally days before I nearly died of internal blood loss (20+ inches of small intestine had to be removed because of irreversible scarring). This was in Utah, and apparently I was the youngest case of Chron's in the state at the time and was on the operating table for over 4 hours. Scary stuff. My single mother was made of some seriously strong stuff back then and will forever be my hero
There is NO WAY IN HELL I’d EVER have that freaky a** clown doll in my house 😳🤡 but it’s also the reason I DO NOT like clowns in the first place lmaooo 😂 ….. I never knew that Gary Sherman was a pallbearer for Heather, that’s both touching and heartbreaking. Also if this series is cursed it’s because Spielberg sacrificed it for E.T.’s success
I love all these films, Heather was a brilliant actress. I especially love the 1st though as I got a bigger bedroom with a toy cupboard as my 12 yr old brother didn't like the tree that tapped on the window. Great video as always 😊🐾💜👋👍
Yes I've heard that Myth/curse story for Years and like that actress Zelda said its All "Crap"....lol 😅!! Now I have to watch that Curse Documentary about certain films with curses I'm a little curious Now. Great Job Mr. Minty, Until Next Time.
Yeah it's like the story of the omen being cursed or the exorcist. Most of the time its just concidence or natural phenomenon. Beck was really ill and wanted to leave some money to his family, Sampson died from complications due to alcohol similar to how the chief's dad died in the novel that the one flew over the cuckoo's nest is based on. For Heather, she might have had that blockage for a while and as for poor Dominique, her boyfriend was psycho and we don't know how long he kept sending her creepy packages.
I remember reading that those same skeletons used in Poltergeist were used in Raiders of the Lost Ark first. Back then, it was apparently standard procedure. Yeah, definitely a bit creepy.
Another fun fact, the house used for the exterior, located in North ridge CA, in 1994, when the earthquakes happen, it was damaged severely in the earthquake. Loosing its chimney, and damaging the driveway and stairs near it. With the houses around it including the ET house with very minimum damage.
I remember as a kid watching that movie around, maybe 630. Right after supper or so. My bedtime was 9 back then. And sure enough. That clown got me in a nightmare before 10. Bet any 7 year old would've had the same thing. Just like having a crush on Heather. I still get sad about what happened to her. She was only a few months older then me. Even that main theme song has so much emotional attachment that it kinda hurts to hear it. Even all these years later. It's just one hell of an emotional movie as it jumps all over the place. I know what will happen when I watch any of them. I end up watching all 3 in a row.
They're HERE GOOD movie. Love Steven Spielberg. Thx for the vid Minty. Poltergeist is one of my all time faves. The FX are outdated but still the movie still holds up today. 😊😊😊
Heather O'Rourke was woefully misdiagnosed. I suffer from ulcerative colitis, and for what it's worth as a fan of the movies, knowing the circumstances of her death led to me to ask questions about my own diagnosis. I was diagnosed correctly, but I made sure because of her. Small comfort when faced with the preventable, slow death of a child. May she rest in peace.
Ooooh is this a new Minty series? I love it. Well done as always, Minty! The subject material of this one has always perplexed and saddened me as a fan of the first Poltergeist film. I’ve been to see the Poltergeist house in person, and it still looks very much like the original used in the film (obviously interiors were shot in studio), but the exterior is very much the same - minus the possessed tree and swimming pool lol.
Still, after all these years, the one scene that freaks me out the most, is that white furry thing that roars at Diane, the mother, in the hallway scene!!! Tbh, the clown never scared me, just the white furry thing. Oh, & the roaring face that lunges at Stephen, the dad, in that one scene, near the end! Scary!!
I really enjoyed the third poltergeist because of Heather O'Rourke performance. She was very ill and in pain during filming and kept going. She was just great in that one. Fun video Minty!
If indeed there is a curse, why do the directors always live long happy lives? Even the Little Rascals short films had a supposed curse and Hal Roache lived to be 99.
I LOVE the first Poltergeist movie. I really like the second movie with the introduction of Rev. Kane. The third movie has a place in my heart because it’s set in Chicago, and I live here.
I was too little to see this movie in theaters, but when watching it on tv, I love this film, but it is tragic what happened to the lives of some of the cast!! 😢
The clown doll from the remake of this movie used sn antique clown that was more along the lines of a normal doll's size. I was surprised to discover it was the exact one i have that i obtained from my deceased great grandma. Never had any issues with it.😊
Grave Secrets: "The Legacy of Hilltop Drive" (1992 TV Movie) Starring Patty Duke and David Soul...[basically based on a true story...exactly the same theme as Poltergeist with the housing estate being built on a cemetary]....
The mother in that movie was drop dead beautiful.
Jo-Beth Williams... My first crush LOL!
She was one of the OG milfs 😍

Tbh, the clown never scared me, just the white furry thing. Oh, & the roaring face that lunges at Stephen, the dad, in that one scene, near the end! Scary!!
We need a Minty live stream and a video about his music tastes.
Poltergeist 3 is a great drinking game. You drink everytime someone says Carol Ann.
BAHAHAHA!!! Minty, you're the best.
I really enjoyed the third poltergeist because of Heather O'Rourke performance. She was very ill and in pain during filming and kept going. She was just great in that one. Fun video Minty!
@17:00 Forget the clown... look at that bedspread!! 😬😎
I totally forgot that Heather passed away 😢 She could have continued on to become a wonderful actress, if she had chosen to do so. Such a tragedy
When I was a child I was told Heather passed because of a hole in her heart 🤔
The Freddy Krueger blanket is the one that's really scary.
Word. My wife would only sleep diagonally in her bed for years because she was afraid of Freddy pulling her into it! LOL!
If indeed there is a curse, why do the directors always live long happy lives? Even the Little Rascals short films had a supposed curse and Hal Roache lived to be 99.
I was born in 1982. I didn't know this movie came out that year 😱
Do more of these. I think these sorts of videos are great…you should cover The Omen and The Exorcist too!
What a cozy room!!
The clown doll from the remake of this movie used sn antique clown that was more along the lines of a normal doll's size. I was surprised to discover it was the exact one i have that i obtained from my deceased great grandma. Never had any issues with it.😊
Let's call a spade, a spade. Carol Ann went to Narnia!
I use to visit the house. I grew up in Simi Valley. House creep me out until I was 13 😂😅
You want night terrors? That's how you get night terrors.
I’m loving the weird tales series ❤
It's such a shame that many of the cast is still gone, but a few of them, Like JoBeth Williams and Craig T Nelson is still alive and kicking.
I like the clown doll. I am hoping to find a place that can make a replica Annabelle doll from the films.
Matheson said the same thing about Terminator. Next thing he will be claiming his daughter wrote E.T.
Grave Secrets: "The Legacy of Hilltop Drive" (1992 TV Movie) Starring Patty Duke and David Soul...[basically based on a true story...exactly the same theme as Poltergeist with the housing estate being built on a cemetary]....
We got to see Minty's inner sanctum!
Ask Spielberg what happened to Orourke.
I like these weird tales videos
Loving Minty's Comedi Carts, it's right up there with Super Mario Kart in my opinion! ❤
Nice touch on the old TV!
Tempting fate Minty ....I like it
omg you went above and beyond with this one!!!
*jingle jingle*
you make many great points, brilliant!
I was 13 when I saw this at the cinema, I couldn't walk down the hall way at home in the dark for the next few years.
12:44 ....the ghost of uncredited actors! They must have a really good union.
