Grew up in this place, Orange Julius, Candle Cabin,Corn dog 7, Sears candy/nut counter and Grants. My brother and I practically lived in the pet dept. Grants was the best. Sad to see this gone. went to see once a few years ago and cried .Like loosing a good friend.
I was 9 when the mall opened. I lived on Ridge Ave. next to Skyview across highway from the mall. Me and my good friends Keith Kuhn and Jamie Pace hung out there all the time. First video game I played was the Pong close to the candy counter.
I remember a model train layout that a guy had there in the latter years. Does anyone remember the interesting looking old bank outside the mall? Would love to see an updated video on this place.
Mary Jo Fritts there is another mall in Bessemer that shut down (built late 90s). They do that there, but Bessemer is a very poor city. The industry is gone. So sad.
i remember the flea market was Consumer Warehouse Foods as a kid.

Lol. That bank gave me the creeps. It was so oddly placed. My gma used that bank. I remember eating the lollipops placed on the banks counter
@@dtaylor4001 wow, that's awesome! How did the inside look? Is the building still standing now?
I remember Grants. They had one where I lived in Louisiana.
I've never been to Bessemer, but I always thought it was a small town so I was surprised they had a mall.
It's on the outskirts of Birmingham
Good childhood memories
Rod Cooper I know right I used to hate to go and my grandparents banked at that big brick bank beside it.
amazon and online shopping also hurt the mall, not just the loss of local jobs
Why don't places like this rent out for special events like reunions and parties! Just asking!
