There is no compounding in mutual fund or any kind of market linked instrument.The example what you mentioned applies for FD or any fixed income investment where returns are known prior. Compounding never gives -ve returns but market linked instruments give -ve returns.Please understand the sequence of returns risk. -ve returns in initial period of investment will wipe out the principal. This applies for mutual funds also.
Appreciate your work in telugu language in educating people. Request you to make videos on risk management and asset allocation.
