Some C-10 love! That looks familiar, I was just in that position last week. I had to grind down the carriage bolts to remove the bed... Sparks everywhere!
Chris you are correct. GM's had dual wall bedsides and they are rigid and bolt "That Side" on first, can pull the wheel house into place and then the bolts would line up in most cases. This aftermarket is 19 gage (1mm) and dent easy. If the OEM are not rusted or beyond repair, then reuse it. Metric metal is now normal in the market! I would put the the new one on top of the old. One thing for sure is side panel flange is anti seize and if not a seam sealer, use 3M glazing putty in cartridge. Non hardened compound for windshields and rubber! Work great, but stay back 3/8" from inside edge. DK, ASE master tech since 78, retired.
No frame interference inboard ? My shortbox would not even allow for a half inch negative offset... can go positive but then need to look at spacing the whole fender as well. Look forward to more from you.
Wait a minute.... So you went through all the trouble of removing the old wheel house and mocking up the new one and then just put the old one back in????!!!!! WTF!!!!!????? That's kinda F'd. I was really looking for a vid that shows the gains from doing this exact thing cuz I am considering doing this to my 69 C20......although mine has a wood bed.....but I really don't understand why anybody would go through all this trouble/expense and not complete it. For me, if i had purchased the wider wheel houses and not use them would be devastating. I do not have a big budget for my C20 ...so this would be money wasted for me. But I guess thats not a problem for you....which is fricken awesome. I just wanted to see how big/wide of a wheel would fit in there and what back spacing that you can use. Either way thanks for the video. Love watching you guys on MT. Anxiously waiting for some new vids with you and Tony..... P.S. Yer Chevelle is the tits!!!!!! Cheers.
I think you just need it tubbed a little and narrowed axles, depending on how big the tires you want are. 67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=525044
My method to mark the holes either square or round is to use a transfer punch. Far more accurate than the sharpie that won’t quite fit or reach and leaves a centering hole . Cheap ones at HF are around $11 a set
Did you see the truck before he got it man.... he assembled it at a friends house it was a bed full of parts including the cab with the bare frame laying against the house. It was just a short trip to becoming scrap metal. Lucky does a damn good job. Why else would Chip Foose payed him to build his cars.
I want to be just like Lucky when I grow up. Lucky is truly the best there is !
Hey Lucky. We sometimes weld a nut on top of the carriage bolts to get them out as well. Won’t damage your fender if you plan on reusing it.

Your best camera work yet, everything rattling and a metal piece starting to move then pop goes the Lucky.
2:50-3:15 really needed the theme to Hogan's Hero's, or a frantic cat's paw
It works best to bolt the bottom two bolts that attach the wheel well to the bed side to line it up correctly then mark the bed floor holes

So those inner bolts to the fender jumped off? Forget to show a step for us rookies?
Is there a video of tubs after you get cut in & mounted..
I removed them.
Was able to fit 295/50 no problem.
