Another issue with customs is that there is no replacing damaged parts. My core figs Advanced Suit came with a scratch on the face as well as the arm and sadly nothing was able to be done about the head. I have been looking on the second hand market for months for a replacement but still nothing has shown up. If custom companies did multiple runs of figures not only could collector's get figures if they had not heard of a brand at that time, but also they can buy replacements if it gets damaged.
That’s why I love Clonearmycustoms, wish every custom company was like them. No pre-orders, actually “affordable” prices (no figs above 35$) and takes only a week to get there. And if there is an issue with your order will replace them
Lego has actually made the bigger torso mould before. When Nexo Knights was still a theme, the character of Axl had a bigger and wider torso and arms compared to everyone else
That custom Groot is UGLY!! Honestly, GOTG3 Groot doesn't even need any specialized parts; all he needs to be accurate is the base, official figure, with the Woody/Avatar legs and arms, and a new faceprint thats more accurate. And, no, Hulk and Thanos do NOT need a specialized torso; bigfigs are perfect for them! But, I do agree that _some_ characters need a new specialized torso. And, custom minifig companies (or teams, no company) shouldn't make specialized parts that are ugly and un-Lego-like, such as that Groot, the Lizard you bought, NWH Doc Ock, Goblin, etc etc. I hate the trend of over-detailing custom minifigs; its tacky and messy. That Deadpool in the vid is really well-done and Lego-y. Thats what all minifigs should look like; super detailed, but clean. (Actually, where did you get that Deadpool? I'm curious) Only make parts and prints that are Lego-y; its cleaner and cooler. Minifigs should be super detailed but also very clean and Lego-y. Thats the whole point of the minifig style. Otherwise, you practically have just an action figure pasted onto a minifig, which looks wrong. Adapt the original's whole.... _everything_ into the Lego [minifig] style.
Lego still needs to look like Lego! Don't get me wrong some more printing would be great on characters that do need it. And a new torso piece would be great! And half the time shoulder armour that slots over the neck piece would be good enough for details
i honestly hate lego customs (besides certain more "vanilla" brands) they just look like ugly, bastardized version of lego figures, plus their prices make normal lego look like pocket change
The real problem is custom figures always look disgusting and are overly priced. Seriously, over $100 for 1 figure that has ugly, non Lego looking bulky parts made out of a crappy plastic that doesn't match the look of official Lego...just don't buy custom figs unless they're just printing like Lego does. These bulky looking things just look bad...
Thank you for calling out the extremely flawed preorder system!!! If you sell customs, make the minifigure first, then sell it. It’s that simple. If you think it’s too risky, start by selling in small quantities. That’s the way I do it and it works perfectly! If something sells out, you can take as long as you need to restock and your buyers will continuously hype up the restock for you instead of complaining about not getting getting a minifig they payed for 3 months ago
I used to think I was the only one who didn’t certain customs, but I’m glad you pointed out how some customs are too overly detailed. The overly detailed customs really take them out of LEGO’s style and stick out when placed with official LEGO. I really was turned off by the customs that gave Minifigs sculpted fingers and toes.
I agree, but I think a lot of people don't release that is a style thing, I know people who like that style, I sit somewhere in the middle I don't mind over detailed figures so long as it still fits in the Lego style and or look good next to minifigures, personally as the company goes on I see Lego doing more printing on the minifigure anyway, weve seen this on arms in resent times what's to say side torso isn't next
Yeah looks like a sore thumb, I put my customs behind official looking ones cause the feet sucks, I don't like it when even the feet are overly detailed
I just realised he said that people are complaining that fake mini fig have printing on the side of their legs but some normal figs do like she hulk and Moon Knight
Firestar is probably the best custom minifigure company out of all of them. They're printing is UV instead of pad so it has a slightly raised shiny texture to it but only at certain angles in the light. Id say 99% of the time it looks just like a normal minifigure. They do their very best to match Legos style so they won't print on the side of torsos or back of legs and they're face proportions also match Legos really well unlike other customs that look super uncanny. They're also WAY cheaper than these ridiculous limited run figures that are a couple hundred dollars while Firestars are only around 30 to 40. They also sell custom printed official lego parts to upgrade real figures only for a few bucks. I have all the Marvel printed arms and they're all superb. The shipping time is somewhat long for orders here in the states but it's only a couple weeks compared to ALMOST A YEAR with the ones in the video. And you get a tracking code with updates. Parts are restocked often and you get updates when pieces you want get restocked. They have their own website and it's super easy to order from them and you don't have to jump through hoops and other resellers to buy their parts. If you like big bulky detailed parts for your minifigs they also offer 3d printed parts like helmets and weapons as well as custom capes, but even these are more in line with Legos style than anything showcased in this video. I've ordered from them multiple times now and can't praise them enough. If you're curious about getting into customs but want to keep your lego figures looking like lego and not overpriced knockoffs i would definitely look into Firestar.
6:15 That’s my biggest complaint with these high quality adult collector customs. Sure they’re expensive, but you’re getting what you pay for. The shipping time is just atrocious though! I ordered a Spider Gwen & it took 8 months to arrive & when it did finally arrive, I had no warning, it just randomly arrived one day. I also ordered a Sabine Wren & a Spider Rex back in March & I have no idea when they’ll get here. It’s really annoying not knowing anything after I place my order.
Groot's body design is very similar to how LEGO created Axl from Nexo Knights. However, I would preferred if they create some figure with Mr. Incredible's body style, as it would be more versatile for use with other characters

They absolutely should have them in hand but they also need a pre order system before they actually ship. Preorders somewhat fix this because you often need more info for a preorder and you need to be interested in a product before it’s actually out, basically eliminating bots for the most part in my experience at least. I noticed that. I think that the axl torso was the base for this custom torso on the Groot figure. Lego could do so much if they just used the peices they already have. We could get characters like hulk, Thanos, venom, kingpin, juggernaut, and so many more.
I’d love to get some customes but for the price some places charge I could get massive Lego sets instead. Also anime figs in general have a strange problem of taking the face from the anime instead of matching the Lego style
thing is you have nexo knights axel torso and arms that has never been used again that would make a fantastic mark 1 iron man or john henry irons steel. personally i like customs for the parts that lego will never make due to licenses ala pokemon or the characters coming from more adult properties like constantine or even just in specific designs used years before lego started making the characters. we might for example get hal jordan or superman in their regular looks but we might not get hal jordan as parralax or superman in his lightning form theres a lot of nineties designs that you know lego would never make
Making molds and converting stuff into reasonable designs that dont stray away too much from base lego is real expensive and time consuming, respectively
true, take bandai's gunpla for example. they can make reasonable price and still make profit out of it. LEGO are just pure greed with their price stamps. a $50 for a small ahh box of lego ? you've gotta be kidding me
I’m sorry but I just find those big bulky attachments to be absolutely hideous. A minifigures detail comes from the print. All those molded parts look more like a minimates.
Very based video. As a collector of customs, official legos, and bootlegs, I agree! Blackstar, Crosscheck, and Minibigs are pretty good brands. The quality is great and they don't always do preorders. And when/if they do a preorder, they have a rough timeline posted on their site. Crosscheck is especially good for keeping us updated.
Plastic molds are really expensive, and custom Lego minis aren't exactly a widespread market, means that they have to charge a lot to make back the money on the mold.
The lizard is really good. Like the groot as well. They have made a bigger torso over a standard torso. Look for Axl - a nexo Knights main character. He was a buff guy, and had a specialized armor over the normal torso and arms with technic pins.
Personally my stance is I wont buy cystom figures I don't see value for money I'd rather get the cheap knockoffs because of how cheap they are while still having the detail of these custom vendors sure they have problems sometimes but overall I've had a good experience
Funny lego has acrually made a custom torso quite similar to your groot or the Mr. Incredible (video game) torso for Axl in Nexo Knights. I wonder why they haven't played around with it at all since.
So on the Rex mini bRick situations, you went through teir one bricks (fill out a form) ,pay 8 dollars shipping (hong Kong to west coast for me) and I was able to receive my mando figure that I ordered from Rex
Yeah i think you are underestimating the costs though. injection molding is certainly not cheap, neither is pad printing, and that's before even considering the cost of materials and shipping them (often overseas) from the manufacturer to the seller. Add to that they are all small businesses, run by at most a handful of people. You've gotta understand most of them probably can't afford to fork out thousands of dollars for molds and such on an unsure product. They need to have a pretty specific idea of how much they are going to sell to even consider having a profit, if they don't it could end up costing them instead. It's unfortunate, but that is the reality of this type of manufacturing.
There is a torso sort of thing like you described with mr incredible. The nexo knights axel guy had a torso like you described, but maybe a little to jagged
side torso printing and back leg printing are always a hard no for me
5:22 noooooooooo!!
The ones with custom moulded parts are kind of ugly and overly detailed, I prefer ones that stick to the standards of official minifigs

I’d love to get some customes but for the price some places charge I could get massive Lego sets instead. Also anime figs in general have a strange problem of taking the face from the anime instead of matching the Lego style
thing is you have nexo knights axel torso and arms that has never been used again that would make a fantastic mark 1 iron man or john henry irons steel. personally i like customs for the parts that lego will never make due to licenses ala pokemon or the characters coming from more adult properties like constantine or even just in specific designs used years before lego started making the characters.
we might for example get hal jordan or superman in their regular looks but we might not get hal jordan as parralax or superman in his lightning form theres a lot of nineties designs that you know lego would never make
4:48 so no one is gonna talk about the ben 10 Minifigure
Bruh idk why its so expensive for damn plastic bro. They are all greedy. Customs, lego…all of them.
It's because Lego needs to pay to license the brands, Star wars, marvel etc
Making molds and converting stuff into reasonable designs that dont stray away too much from base lego is real expensive and time consuming, respectively
true, take bandai's gunpla for example. they can make reasonable price and still make profit out of it. LEGO are just pure greed with their price stamps. a $50 for a small ahh box of lego ? you've gotta be kidding me
The buff Groot torso could be like Axl from Nexo Knights
Alex from Nexoknights actually had a custom Torso that was plus sized, there’s no reason they can’t make more
I GOT MY CUSTOM MINIFIGURE FOR LIKE 50cents
I appreciate the easy print of the Lego minifigures also if sometimes they would add part or make them proportional
I’m sorry but I just find those big bulky attachments to be absolutely hideous. A minifigures detail comes from the print. All those molded parts look more like a minimates.
@thebaker525
Exactly, just collect Minimates at that point.
How to order in jin customs ?
I think the smaller companies need the money before they can start production
What is YOUR favorite Marvel charecter mine is Black pandther i just love cats theyre just so cute
I think a made to order system could work where they have the minifigs for sale for about a month and produce all they need throughout that window
I mean that's kind of what they do with the pre orders at the moment so im hoping they can move more to an in hand system
How much for the doc oc custom and where do I get it from
Why do they cost hundreds of dollars do they cost a lot to produce or something?
Plastic molds are really expensive, and custom Lego minis aren't exactly a widespread market, means that they have to charge a lot to make back the money on the mold.
They don't, it's Hong Kong dollar prices, but it's still expensive for just a mini fig for sure
How did you get to the website to even look at those?
What seller is this 2:39 ? I want that Plo!
Baggles x LCM. It's since ceased selling, but you might be able to get it aftermarket once production is finished.
not really a fan of nexo knights but ik in the first ninja turtles sets there was a dog mutant character set 79104
Funny lego has acrually made a custom torso quite similar to your groot or the Mr. Incredible (video game) torso for Axl in Nexo Knights. I wonder why they haven't played around with it at all since.
what about the nexo nigth guy he has a body cap
i really liked the Deadpool one, where is it from??
it’s made by JakaBricks but it was a 2 figure pack w Deadpool and Wolverine for 200 bucks with not too many copies, I think they’re all sold now.
My problem is that it looks weird
So on the Rex mini bRick situations, you went through teir one bricks (fill out a form) ,pay 8 dollars shipping (hong Kong to west coast for me) and I was able to receive my mando figure that I ordered from Rex
Where do I get that Robocop?
for $570 you don’t 😭😭
@@gangoongee 🙁
its HK$ not USD its about $75 USD you can get it from legendcmoc but like i say in the video ive heard nothing about it since last year
Yeah i think you are underestimating the costs though. injection molding is certainly not cheap, neither is pad printing, and that's before even considering the cost of materials and shipping them (often overseas) from the manufacturer to the seller.
My ass thought this vid was bout fortnite
Same
There is a torso sort of thing like you described with mr incredible. The nexo knights axel guy had a torso like you described, but maybe a little to jagged
