We've been using Earth Angel blocks for well over a year now. I can't speak highly enough for the quality! TR's blocks are consistent producers and second to none. He's been super helpful, guiding us through the pitfalls that bankrupt many mushroom farmers. Listen to him what he says about temperature in your fruiting rooms! With two 16'x16' climate controlled rooms at 58F-60F, 90% humidity, CO2 control, and TR's blocks we are able to produce 400 lbs of fresh mushrooms every week, year round. We grow blue, elm, gold, Black Pearl oysters, along with lions mane, shiitake and chestnut. We sell at 3 large farmers markets and have built quite a following. We stay so busy at our markets the market managers use our booth as a landmark to point out the location of other vendors. TR is 'da man!
Amazing ❤❤ I was thinking about the possibility of growing mushrooms at 60 Fahrenheit I have a place with that temperature all year round , still thinking about what's the best types to grow there
There are a few things you can try choose the best variety - there are many available. grow them in the right environment - some eg oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and may be placed outdoors (I discovered these and why they work from Gregs Mushroom Grower website )
Looking forward to the website. I'm off grid and hoping I can grow some oysters down in my well or in a future ground cellar I want to build. It gets hot here in the summer.
An American Homestead Hi there, why u dont upload new videos now. Long time didn't see any. Even ur two sons...wow they're cute. But don't know by this time how tall that become..lol
im just starting and making my own farm. im from chile, and my knowledge is very low, so im studing everithing i can of mushrooms, specially oyster mushrooms. ill be a lot of help if you can give some tips to start, please, really loving your job, thats are tons of beauty mushrooms.
Just curious what you fo with the substrate after isage...I presume once the mushrooms are harvested , the bags are emptied and the substrate is thrown out...?
Question. ..im wanting to try growing some oysters on a small scale for myself and maybe sell to a friend who has a restaurant. From what im leaning, if one buys a block ready to go, you get a first flush and then a few more smaller flushes before the block is depleted. Can a person harvest their first flush then, instead of fruiting it again, use whats left to inoculate coffee grounds or straw medium, and keep it going or will it just peter out?
Just clone a healthy fruit on some agar. Then you can start your own grain spawn(mushroom seed). You then can get large bags or containers and use them to incubate pasteurized straw with your grain spawn. Once it's fully colonized you can begin fruiting.
do you just sell fruiting blocks or do you also sell mushroom spawn? Appreciate all the information, as a mushroom grower that is something I feel I can never get enough of. Thanks
I'm getting ready to place my order, I just need to get everything ready in my fruiting room first. I'm really excited to get these and use them to 'test' the market before we go into full production.
it will take forever before they pin at those temps. If you start the pinning process at a warmer temp then bring them out, they will be fine but just grow slower.
Dude, your website is about two years late. Tried to look you up but the site is still under construction. Get is done and I bet you would be selling blocks big time right now. Good luck with the virus ad it is nice to see you brought your employees back already.
Depends. They yield about the same and the mushrooms look identical. 3015 is a little more prone to fruit in the bag during colonization. All the oyster blocks i make now are being sold to other growers. That said, i prefer them to be able to sit on the shelf without pinning those extra two days or so. Other than that though, both strains are almost identical in every way.
Quick question. Ive colonized a set of my own blocks. Do you only "X" slice one side? Do you scuff the mycelium up at all under the area you cut? Simply put, what do I do to the block after putting it in my fruiting chamber? I hear so many contradicting methods.. thanks to anyone who can help!
Mine are not growing properly. They're cool, humid, and they pin but dont grow fat caps. They bunk out and start new pins, they dont even get dime sized blue, like quarter size of a dime, fail then start new ones. They're at 60, humidity is 90. Any ideas?
How do you get them not to pin on the sides under the plastic? My oysters, most of the time, pin wherever they want, not where i cut the bag. Ive tried everythinh.
bring them to the grow room a little earlier. Also, make sure you are keeping your. humidity high after you cut your bags. I often cover my bags with plastic after i cut them. This keeps 100% humidity on the exposed area, and keeps excess air flow from injuring the exposed mycelium.
Most guides ive read/seen say to fruit at much higher temps. Colonize too. This is a bit confusing as EA clearly knows his stuff. To be clear, the lower temp is ONLY to deal with contam right? There is no other benefit beyond that?
Over sizing your air conditioning system will rapidly cool your room without removing a lot of moisture. The air conditioning system will slightly short cycle but this is what you want. An air conditioning system doesn't cool air it removes moisture. Consult with an experienced HVAC technician.
Jamie Owens your mindset is that of a home hvac which doesn't apply to us because we are bringing in mass quantities of fresh air. With that fresh air there are multiple factors that change. It's a lot more advanced than 2+2=4 that you are implying.
Earth Angel Mushrooms Since my comment I've done some research and I clearly had no idea what I was talking about. Thank you for channel and the information you provide, I really appreciate it.
I just looked at the website 2 years on still under construction 🚧 the first video I watched was don’t do mushrooms as if your not good at Business for two years on the website great business
That's awesome! Are those grey or dove oysters? Or are they a different strain of blue oysters? My b. Oysters don't have cap like yours so I'm curious :)
Farout! I just purchased some Oyster plugs for a log just to eat not to make money can you give me some advice should I plant them under my old peach tree on an old oak stump/log?
jeffrey smikle too much work to move and work with plus your contamination rates go way out the roof I doubt it would work before it rotted. 1 contaminated block 55 lbs is like losing 5.5 of these 10 lb blocks. I would split them and replicate this guy he knows his stuff on mushrooms.
jeffrey smikle I am not a pro I am trying to also learn. are you talking about the 3 or 6 foot bags that they hang vertical? based on my research that I have done it says that more medium stands chance to contaminate easier and that they can be tough to work with. Im starting to grow different mushrooms and learned how to do agar cultures. agar growing out lets you see any contams and also allows you to select different growth like rhizo and allows you to even at times do selection and isolation if you had a contamination (growing out several different agar dishes of the same strain until you basically clean the contaminated source with isolation). I still have a lot of trial and error to learning but at the minute I have been using whole oats (similar to rye berries) as well as doing a few experiments with old coffee grounds and gypsum.
I've spend a long time researching into growing mushrooms at home after which we found a great website at gregs mushroom grower (check it out on google)

Wow! Everything looks amazing!! All those oyster mushrooms look like mushroom eye candy!
What type of oyster mushroom produces the most pounds of mushroom per block?
can you please specify this variety..so great
What are some signs that the oyster mushrooms are ready to be harvest?
How many times harvest one bag bro??
Thanks, for your all sharing videos, AZIZ from Algeria.

Are you using any manure at all. I grow the clean method
I have had a hard time finding soy bean hulls without ordering 2000 lbs at a time. What is an alternative?
How do you harvest the blocks in the top shelf or those that are hard to reach?
What type of cooling machine do you use in your farm? Can you allow us to know what that is?
By chance do you sell 10 lb bags colonized. If so i like to buy a few. Have a good one. Thanks
You give me hope I cn use my outdoors building in they’ll pin and fruit in the 50s
