VOTE out of TEN for Mumdance's beat in the COMMENTS BELOW
Beat this is not about who can complete the best beat in 10 minutes. It's just about rising to the challenge of making a beat in 10 minutes. If you think your up to it lets see if you can beat this.
"I usually find if you go on diagonals on the MPC it usually keeps it in some sort of key". Mozart couldn't have put it better himself.
+MmBuddha haha too jokes man
8/10 simply for explaining your methods... Great shout
Jesus CHRIST that set up. Everything is hooked up to everything lmao
hopefully he doesn't move out of that house soon
+JCDawghound It's a basic setup, the Akai MPC60 is just connected to the other synths and drum machines. The MPC60 has four MIDI outputs, so in theory, you can connect up to 64 MIDI devices (one MIDI channel by device) to it (through MIDI thru connectors, MIDI split boxes or MIDI patch bays). Nothing special here...
+MrArpSolina watch his studio tour
pretty basic stuff. a lot of people use a mpc as the main sequencer.
@@MrArpSolina I have the same and I did nothing special. Just hook up your MPC with a midi patchbay and you can connect to every synth that is connected.
The original 60' always looked the illest in my opinion.
Nice set-up with all the hardware wired up through the MPC. The sample collection sounds good too! The beat is pretty simple but cant expect much intricacy in ten mins. For the beat alone I would give a 7. A solid 8 for the work flow.
Best one yet 10/10, he has an amazing workflow with all that gear
Would be interesting to see how he records it and do the final mix. Does he keep it outboard and only record the 2ch or does he record the tracks separately and do the final mixdown in the DAW?
If it was me I'd probably do the mixdown using the mixing desk and just master it in the DAW. But it's possible he runs everything through the desk and then multi-tracks it to his DAW
Amazing workflow!
10/10! just because he is doing all without a computer, all analog, and sequencing live, i'm not against computer based music, actually thats the way i produce, but I think the way he make music let you be more creative and seems to be very fun.
Great episode!
Just cos it's hardware doesn't mean it's analog. There's no such thing as an analog sampler for example..
kuskus777 it's considered analog, man.
musicbronx no it isn't....mpc's aren't analog, they're digital man. Its hardware, but its not analog.
The only analog sampler would be a tape machine loop
whatever, analog or not, he is doing everything without a DAW, and doing it very well
wanna see kahn on this!
Love to watch this guy work and really appreciated the explanations. Don't think the tune was anywhere near finished but fair play. 8/10
Can't go wrong with a squarewave ;)
Classic grime sound. Mum dance style. Banga
Yeah he is analogged out! I see he is till using the MPC 60, I love that but I am a MPC2000XL no matter what to do my drums. I got rid of my set up, and now I just use a Yamaha KX61 midi controller, Protools 8.5, Reasons 6.0.2 and crazy VSTis, and VST and I am good, everything else is talent
when that hi hat came in at 1:03 i was like "yeeeah, theres that juice"
Yeah, BEET juice....... ... Get it? Cuz he's making a beat... But it isn't good, like beet juice 🙈 oh nevermind
Woah people years ago where mad!
Regardless of the end product, I found the process fascinating*
*I'm not a producer in the slightest
I love your setup yo... reminds me of my old setup yo...
Nice! Anyone know who makes that silver a-frame synth rack?
Just good to see vintage gear stipp
Naughty set up
Can anyone explain how his setup works? It seems like synths/drum machine/FX > Mackie Mixer > MPC. With additions of samples already recorded through the MPC and grabbed from a library of sorts. If this is right can anyone go into more detail? Like mixer to mpc inputs/outputs, etc.
Looks like he has everything set up to be controlled by his MPC instrument wise, so midi out to all the synths. His synths and MPC are just wired straight to the mixer, and then he has all his analog effects on the send and insert channels on his mixer so he can use them on anything going to the mixer.
So the big cool thing about his setup is he starts all of his audio from the MPC by just sending MIDI to his synths.
Let me know if I'm missing something or if you were asking something else, or if I can explain it better.
Just in addition to your question, nothing is going out to the MPC from the mixer as far as I can tell.
Hey man, do u think he records this all as one track into a DAW? I doubt that mixer has individual outs. I just find it surprising the only mixing he does is before he hits the record button
i dont understand the purpose of the rack sampler if he's got the MPC right in front of him?
The mpc 60 and s950 are a classic combo. You need the rack sampler for extra sample time
@@ksbeathead ohhhh
@@jessepace8868 more outputs to go into the mixer as well. MPC 60 has 8 outputs, so does the S950. So that's 16 different sounds that can have their own channel on the mixer and be EQ'd differently etc
this is sick
nice set up !!!!!
Mad Scientist!
Monitors ID?
someone get this guy a computer for christmas
Na
adonalmao He has a mac, right there in the video... and he mentioned that he chooses to work with hardware because it's more fun.
would pay a lot to get a copy of that floppy
+Pablo Martinez Make your own
who's that hiding back there in the corner?
Still being put to good use
I want to be on this
nice one mum
pretty good 7/10
fucking kevin
cool
8/10
5
...wtf
Museum.
7
All that dope vintage gear, an MPC 60 in great condition and it takes him 8min to make a beat that sounds like THAT. I don't get it.
Stress, pressure. Same reason why people fuck up the first question in "who want's to be a millionaire"
no that would be because they are geordies and by definition, inbred.
yeahhh tasty
5/10
his setup is amazing - but - that beat... not so much
thats the mumdance style
yeah i fucking love it
a whole room of gear for something that could be the result of 5 min tapping on my ipad using imaschine.
+Jonah Mann man said "astrogeometrically" u kno
+Alex H hahaaa
I was literally going to say the same thing
WTF shoulda layered the reverb bud?
GARBAGE
Man I can beat that with akai xr20.💩
Lol I used to make instrumental grime on the XR20 too actually
thats horrible
unbelievable ...
garbage :/
Nah, i can do better with Amiga 500 and C64 setup.
whats the point of talking when you makin music? :)
