Deja Vu will always be my favorite Dreamcatcher song. So far they haven't done another song quite like this one. The combination of tragic ballad and rock banger suits them perfectly, since their vocal skills have every human emotion covered. LEEZ and Ollounder, Dreamcatcher's producer/writers since debut, wrote and composed the song. LEEZ was the piano/keyboard guy and Ollounder was guitar, bass, and drums. The team broke up after the making of the Apocalypse: Follow Us album, so that particular combination of talent is gone. Since Ollounder became their music producer, the group's sound has become edgier and even more rock oriented. I like that, but it means that Deja Vu will probably remain a unique one off.
While Leez is indeed hard to replace, I think Oliv & Peperoni did a decent job on Bon Voyage. That said, I wouldn't mourn overly much if they continue further in the direction of Justice. But this is Dreamcatcher. I think the only thing we can say for sure is that we'll be surprised.
I was literally like “man dejavu really is my favorite dreamcatcher song” and then opened the comments to everyone elses fave song too like dang yall got taste fr
Hi, deja Vu is a masterpiece, it’s a showcase to their talents, their beauty and the producers talents, you can pick any title tracks and 95% of the b-tracks, my personal best : Red Sun, Shatter, Frozen, Trap, … the range of their talents is amazing welcome to the Somnia paradise
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.
All Dreamcatcher's music is awesome... Go for Chase me, Good night, Fly high, You and I, What, Piri, Eclipse, also check out the cover of Titanium that Sua (member of the group) sang with H1-key's Hwiseo. The performance is absolutely amazing.✌🏻
Dreamcatcher title track M/Vs tell a story. Even if Deja Vu is a game collaboration and not part of a story arc, the M/V has a pretty deep underlying story. Most DreamCatcher M/Vs have pretty deep lyrical and visual symbolization and many moves, items, colors have a meaning. To demo this, let me break down Deja Vu M/V: Deja Vu is a song about love, friendship and most importantly betrayal. It is a standalone title track, not part of a Dreamcatcher story arc, and the song itself is a collaboration with the game KING's RAID by Vespa. The M/V has the two main characters: JiU and Yoohyeon (members) and the same story is told from their different viewpoint where Deja Vu should more interpreted as distortion of perception triggered by a feeling, a past event or dream here. Pretty much how Yoohyeon's mind distorts the past how she has betrayed and killed JiU to get the throne while also got rid all the other members and now sitting on the throne all alone. Similar to other M/Vs like Scream, the color white represents innocence / purity while black is for the dark side. And the most important color is blue, that represents (distorted) memory while red is more for the bloody truth. Now for the story in nutshell: First we see Yoohyeon sitting on throne wearing white but the moment she sits on it she get corrupted by the black fog (power) 1:00 (note already the blue filter here). According to her (distorted) memory JiU was threatening her while she is innocent (1:26) - JiU in Black, Yoohyeon in White. The 7 of them were friends 1:33 , note the red drinks representing the actual past here but distortion kicks in at 1:37 that rewrites the past (flow of time changes). We see at 1:39 that according to the distorted memory they are now in conflict and the others are gone. Please note the blue drinks this time. At 3:33 we see the actual past of JiU wearing white but she forgives Yoohyeon 3:42 she drops the sword, only to get betrayed and stabbed in the back at 4:35. The table scene at 1:33 refers to the last supper by Leonardo da Vinci to emphasize the betrayal. Anyway Yoohyeon also gets rid of the others, already at the beginning we see Handong imprisoned 1:16, SuA banished 1:21, others probably dead. Just to get to the final scene where Yoohyeon is sitting on the throne all alone wearing black. 5:20. Almost all of their title track M/Vs have a pretty deep meaning and basically every frame is there for a purpose. Every scene is either there to highlight elements of the Choreography that follows the actual lyrics, or to tell the story. They have very few shots that "just look good"
if you like how the verses are softer and then the chorus is big and loud, I highly recommend Bon Voyage! Seems like it'll be right up your alley! Also you asked for their best songs and... all of them?? Seriously, they don't miss. I don't think a deep dive into their discography would leave you disappointed! but some of my favourite b sides: Propose, Demian, Red Sun, Rising, Shatter, 2 Rings, Black or White... just to get you started. I could list, like, 30
6:11 I'm not exageratting when I tell you that I could not pick a favorite from their songs. Anyways, you already reacted to 'Scream' and 'Boca' (Part 1 and 2 of the Dystopia trilogy wich is about cyberbullying), so you might want to finnish it with 'Odd Eye' I would also recommend 'BEcause', wich is not part of any main storyline, 'Bonvoyage' (Part 3 of Apocalypse trilogy) and Red Sun (It's a Bside but has a special clip) Another option is to go from the first title track (called 'Chase Me') following the storyline from the nightmare series onwards.
Deja Vu will always be the favorite! The one that everyone defends tooth and nail for not having any defects!!!

Deja Vu is up there as one of their best title tracks. For me, I also like Justice (which I think you have reacted to), Bonvoyage and Odd Eye.

For Halloween I recommend you PIRI from Dreamcatcher.
