Whoahh, this gave me an Ni-epiphany that I’m constantly in an Ne-unconscious Ni loop, the functions being at war with each other. Basically my Ne is opening up a billion different possibilities and my Ni is trying to sort them out to create an actual solution or theory, but before it can my Ne throws in this nuclear bomb that just creates a massive explosion that my Ni then tries to pick up the pieces from. Yet another reason why I’m a living contradiction 😭

Wow I'm glad I stumbled upon this. As an INFP Female I felt like this helped me a lot. There is a sense of comfort encountering a community that understands me without knowing me personally.
    Thanks!

Great explanations! Very helpful! As an INFP myself, I've always found Ni really intriguing, but definitely prefer Ne in daily life.

Thank you for clearing this up! As an INFP, I would read the description of Ni and how it is used, and I'd be confused as to why it describes me so accurately even though I know for sure I'm not an INFJ. This explains why the two types get mistaken for each other so often.

I read your first linked article and found it very interesting. I also agree that Carl Jung was probably an INTP based on older INTPs I know and cross-referencing (or, how cerebrally and callously put) as best I can. The Celeb types website has been annoying me too much lately BTW. They insist that Jimmy Wales in an INTP when he 1. Has taken a test and come out as something entirely different (I think it was ENFJ) and 2. said that, although he is sceptical about MBTI typology (as everyone should be ) that the type fits him well; but the folks at Celeb types give zero poopipoos. I just checked, and he also tested as an ESTP, for which he stated the description was distasteful, presumably according to its familiarity to he himself, rather than as some sort of damning judgement on the type in its entirety. They also had Kasparov as an INTJ for the longest time, and he isn't one, not for a million years. A lot of their typing is likely wrong, and when they are proven to be wrong, they seem to change very little. Smacks of arrogance to me -- hope you don't mind my tangent. PS, still loving your vids.

The more I research the more confused I am...I'm definitely a big Ni user (97% on a test, compared to 79% Fi) but relate to INFP functions just as well as INFJ, and I think my mannerisms can be more like an INFP. I'm thinking of consulting a typologist because I'm just so confused. lol It's helpful to know INFP uses Ni and INFJ uses Fi...except...then I'm like...ultra confused...hahaha!!! Your videos are great though, really enjoying going through them all, all day long. :P

Yes, looks like our Fi determines what auxiliary function is valued most at any one particular time.

From an INTP perspective Ni looks like its prone to jumping to conclusions and seeing false connections from superficial similarities mistaken as connections in the real world.
This is also the foundation of bogus spiritual claims.
Ni looks very useful for things like sports, or art, or other things where there is no risk involved in testing out avenues of thought but it's very dangerous to use in finding truth and facts as those can easily have the risk of permanently adding a false belief about the world to your worldview.

Thank you very much for your work! Would you say that it would be favorable for an infp to be using Ni more often and to work with it an a conscious way? I've been exploring human design and my profile there said that my authority actually is intuition but it is channeled unconsciously (which fits perfectly to what you are saying!!, it's mind-blowing). So I've been experimenting with that lately and trying to listen to that inner voice that just knows and to trust it more. It's barely noticeable but I think it would lead me to a more fulfilled life than to be only using Ne. I know I have to go out and try new things to not get caught up in Fi Si but hearing the Ni voice is currently bringing an absolute new quality into my inner life which is great. I think I will use it in my writing to create new ideas out of my inner core..

I think you are onto something here, when it comes to trusting that voice. And for sure, Ni is kind of a partially neglected gift of the Ni. I'll have a video on Ni and Se in INFP coming next, I'll be making it today.

Leon, if I have an impression about another person and I just know that I am right and that I know what I am seeing and perceiving is true, is that also Ni? For example, as an INFP, I would have that feeling that another is not only quiet and reclusive but also very cynical towards and that's why they don't seem to want to chat with me. And I would realize these things while interactions because they were some signs which showed this. Can you somehow relate?

  • @KendrixTermina

    Hm. interesting.
I certainly do relate to the experience of,usually being spacey especially at certain idle points in time, having this heavy, hard-to communicate barrage of alien wing wong in there. I'd wondered if it was sufficiently explained by the "Well, Ti (and Fi) are actually judging functions..." but at the same time, when you look at the ISXPs, they're very deep & discerning in their own ways but not this... messy heavy thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the insides of their heads were more of a cool, calm sort of place.
I very frequently got some story or visualizing or random thoughs going on in my head when not otherwise occupied.
In fact the possibility (not certain here) is occuring to me that my habits of thinking in stories or, carrying headphones everywhere (beyond genuinely liking music & keeping out unpleasantly distracting sensory stuff) could be ways to keep this tendency to always be visualizing things somewhat occupied.
The correlation with Si certainly explains why I found that endless ponderings about the implications of mortality could be reliably turned off through the presence of my favorite plushies, not that i see that as a wholly negative thing but at that time I just wanted to sleep and to be honest it did feel a bit overwehelming, though the capacity to do this is not something I'd ever want gone....
Ovsly I'll need to read your article & think about this some more.

This is FASCINATING. I'm INTP and I have been looking for ways to develop my Ni so that i could be more decisive and stop leaving my INTJ s/o to shoulder the burden of making every decision. But if i understand you correctly, i've had it all along, but have been using it for different things. there are a lot of things I am sure of without any way to verbalize how i know. Because of that, I got into the habit of retracing all the information in my head to the original sources. I've gotten better and better at it, but there are still many things I have no words to explain. Things like how i know, our generation is the last to live as we do. As Jason Silva is fond of saying, we've decommissioned natural selection, we're very probably the first and only species in our little corner of the galaxy to augment ourselves with such elaborate tools. Bows, arrows, swords, guns, rockets, electricity, telescopes, glasses, smartphones, cars, bicycles, shoes, clothing, soap, cooking, drugs, gambling, psychology, science, mathematics, research, chemicals etc. all of these things have contributed to measurable changes in our bodies, brains and therefore behaviors, which reinforce changes and also influence them. Human immortality is literally just around the corner, we can protect and rebuild telomeres, cells, dna by infusing it, overwriting it with better code, the dna from other life we share a common evolutionary ancestry with. When we see people stepping into the street against the light because they're distracted by their phone, or how people connect, digitally without physical contact. We are witnessing the birth of a new species and as with the INxP and Ni we are so submersed in it, we didn't even notice.

leon, i want to ask you something that i can't seem to find the answer to on the internet. what would cause an entp to go quiet while listening to you? it appears the person is not upset or avoiding me, it seems like they dont have any malintentions either. the perons greets me and it appears like they want to know me, but the entire time i was talking the person is were quiet. so what's the deal? why would an entp go quiet, if you can come up with reasons outside this situation alone that would be great too. i hear that entp's are the shyiest of all extroverts, i also hear this about enfp's. i can't seem to figure out why entp's would go quiet given that i dont have enough experiences with them.

    • @jakopic
      @jakopic 8 лет назад +2

+Long Ho As an ENTP I would go quiet when a topic has no interest to me.
But dont worry about it, if I were to say something that would make you go on talking, it would be because I did not feel comfortable enough to keep quiet.
How is his eye contact? Maybe he lost you while you were talking about something boring? ADHD?

    www.celebritytypes.com/blog/2014/11/jimmy-wales-scored-both-estp-and-enfj-on-jungian-type-tests/
Here is the link for Jimmy Wales' thought on MBTI and testing as ENFJ.
    He isn't an INTP.
Type Tips, do you know of the chess player, Magnus Carlsen? If so, what is your impression on his type? I ask, because I think I'm the only person in the world who thinks he's an ISFP.
