In our fleet, we want two mid sized ships for battle group defense to coincide with the 4 hornets on the flagship Kraken's pads. It wasn't hard to decide on Harbingers over Redeemers or Wardens. A sentinel was a consideration, but we felt that 2 Harbingers represented a significant threat to enemy fighters and to light or heavy bombers aiming at the battle group's larger vessels. Your build here helps exemplify our reasoning. It's just a very strong, tanky heavy fighter-bomber. Yes, the Redeemer looks like it will significantly out gun the Vanguard series, but at a whopping crew cost. To me, that amount of crew serves a better purpose on a hammerhead.
I have been practicing with the Harbinger during the Gladfest, and I finally worked out how to take those guys down. 1. You discuss the ship capabilities, but a lot of these fights depend more on the pilot and the user interface. By that, I mean M&K, HOTAS, HOSAS, or whatever other acronym you can come up with. 2. Acceleration can work against you, I'm more of a control guy than a fast guy - fixed weapons demand this discipline. 3. Repeaters are good with gimbals - cannons work better with fixed. Time on target doesn't always afford you the luxury of waiting for the bucket to fill with a hose - you want water balloons and timing. I tried all the suggestions from the video, and while the suggested bespoke weapons are spot-on - I've had better time to kill with the M7A. That could just be because of my play style. 4. I don't worry about stealth - I'm never red and they don't get an audible warning that I'm there until weapons lock. Saying that, I'm referring to crowded Grim Hex during a kill contest. When bounty hunting a live player in empty space (until they nerf it), I know the precise distance to the target. I can let speed be my stealth, comin' in hot and slowing with weapons lock. 5. Missiles are nerfed in this patch, they kill only AIs. I use missiles as a distraction, then I pounce while they are dodging and chaffing. I dish out up to 19 distractions during a dogfight - I doubt you can dis a mis loadout.
Yes been waiting for you to do a load out on the harbinger. Everyone is going crazy for the MSR. Myself I’m waiting for the Corsair. Although I can’t wait to see what load outs you do with the MSR....
For anyone coming back to this vid, I replaced the missiles with 4 423 missile racks so that I could get 8 size 3 missiles, and shoot 4 off at one time. Missiles aren't very good rn, but this is great in pve.
Thanks for the guide! Going to tweak my Harbinger some accordingly, though I don't think I'll worry about stealth at all. I will say that the ability to modify your ship seems to have taken a step backwards. Yea, I understand they wanted to prevent some things, but dang. Now a player can't even use consumables with the Prospector in the field.
My build was almost exactly what you suggested...even down to the 2 AVTR and 2 GVSRs in the nose. I do use the Galdereen instead of the Attrition though. Nice Video!
Another SubliminaL upload, Ohhh yeahhh! I recently bought a Warden after your video, but debating on the Sentinel now after some rough PVP. What's your take now?
Hey SubliminaL i would like to make a recommendation for your ship reviews, add Acceleration as a metric for comparison. different ships may have similar top speeds but their acceleration could be drastically different. something big for flight feel and with combat, positional dominance.
To get that data the community would need to get together and accurately record the g forces in a specific test. Then some math would need to be done and then this would need to be repeated every patch to be accurate. Unfortunately its not data that's coded in because it involves every thruster... It's a "thruster fuck". Can you see how this is a logistical nightmare?
@@SubliminaLstv Why the Sentinel over the Harbinger? Does it come with better components or better weapons? I was actually eyeing those 3 S5 torpedoes from the Harbinger and also like the interior color scheme. The Warden interior looks wierd with that lightblue but I haven't checked the Sentinel. :) Heck, I believe I still have those BUKs as well. Not sure if that's still a thing but if so maybe I could buy a Harbinger and then get a Sentinel BUK out of BuyBack too? :P
Its best to watch my buyers guide of the sentinel. The BUK system is confusing. I've seen your other comments so you know now. The sent is ugly but future skins should fix this.
@@SubliminaLstv Yeah, those BUKs sure are confusing now; especially with the way CIG tried to explain it, then change it, and now nobody knows what's going to happen LOL. I mean, changing them into a box of parts wouldn't work because the central module is unique for each variant. Like a Harbinger BUK would just have 3 torpedoes but no way to attach them on a Warden spaceframe? That makes no sense. :D The Hoplite is also very confusing as I believe it was a separate hull-locked version with a wider interior and as such you'd be unable to install other BUKs in them but then if you look under the ship you see the same rectangular outline of a BUK module. Otherwise if the Hoplite would work with BUKs and could install other central modules I could just buy a Hoplite and just get my Harbinger and Sentinel BUKs out of BuyBack. But I think I might be better off getting a Warden as a base to work from as I believe the Hoplite had less missile hardpoints. Not sure if the weapon hardpoints also differ for the other ships as I could have sworn the Harbinger had more hardpoints than a Warden as one point. But that was before they updated the models and gave it those shoulder-mounted internal racks... :) I would love to see an episode where all 4 Vanguard variants are compared side-by-side with all the hardpoints and stock components and such. Like an ultimate Vanguard series buyers guide! So if you're ever in the mood and willing to do something like that I would really appreciate it as I love watching your videos. :D
The stealth build I snuck up on you with the other day had the Gald, the distortions, and laser repeaters along with the Sukoran and umbra. It works well, and even fresh out of storage it can get pretty close.

As many many others do, I highly value your experience and expertise regarding these load outs. 🍺
The new missile rules, in 3.11, says you get one missile per rack at a time, and only if they are all the same type. So maximum throw weight, currently, requires you to run the 442's underneath and load them all up the same. So your 4 racks full of rattlers is better than splitting them.
Mine is a bit different. I use the cross field qt as it’s very fast but gives a bit more range than the X1 (which matters when hunting players). Also for shields I went with an Umbra and a Sukaron. 50k+ shielding is not bad and the Ir is the defining stealth limitation here giving the Harb a smaller sig than many light fighters. For weapons I’ve gone simple with a huge dist scatter on the nose and all laser repeaters. For missiles I’ve gone with 16 size ones, 8 size 2s. The torps I’ve yet to hit a player with so meh. All in all it’s been a great general purpose combat build that can get in and choose its targets before committing.

Only one thing of note, you mentioned having a video explaining why kilograms per second isn't a real unit of measurement? It's not kilograms per second, which would be noted as Kg/s. I believe the cooling rate would be denoted in Kelvin per second, denoted as K/s.
No, your misunderstanding what I said. I am saying erkul isn't displaying a unit of measurement. The k does not mean Kelvin or what most think it does. It simply denotes 1,000. So if the cooling rate of a cooler is 190,000 in the games code, erkul represents it as 190k to save space and make the site look better esthetically. Kilo means 1,000, it can be 1,000 of anything. Grams, watts, meters. Since this is a video game and not a science lab or real life the unit of measurement doesn't matter. At the end of the day it is just an integer a developer put into the code. The game files don't even specify a unit of measurement. The k isn't in the games code becuase a game doesn't need denoting.
@@SubliminaLstv oh I see, thank you. I assumed you just meant kilogrammes when you said kilo, only as American AC units use US tons where we use BTUs. I think. Nice to know. You'd think CIG would have had some idea of unit of measurement, before making up these numbers though.
