I appreciate the review. I still have my 2010 Prius Base and actually still love it!! But my oldest nephew is in college and needs a more reliable and economical car to compliment his 240sx drifter. So I decided to pass it down. Just test drove the 2020 and might be picking one up today!! Love the Tesla like setup! I'm going to love driving this until my Cybertruck is delivered next year!!!
I Love the Prime but had to go with the Prius Eco it was cheaper and no need to charge and gets me over 60mpg . Less options but im happy with what it has.
My 2020 still continues to impress me. I am in Canada so my EV range varies greatly. Below 32F I am getting 15 miles and above 60F I get over 30 miles.
I just researched that car and honestly it didnt have as much attention as it deserved. I wonder why they stopped making it as it seemed like a perfect use for a solar panel on a car. Glad you like it!
@@bentong8 I believe so, but I don't see how that could matter all that much considering I've had 4-5 people in my car adding an extra 700-800 lbs in the car, I'm sure the weight of the battery would be the least of my worries. Maybe an extra 20 lbs or so.
Prius Prime 2020 : what's better LE with a smaller old school screen vs XLE or Limited trim? Some people say the big screen glares in the sun and it's hard to navigate??
While I haven’t tried the LE trim infotainment system. The xle/ limited trim screen does have a learning curve in order to comfortably navigate. Given the angle of it, I can totally see there being glare issues and honestly most of my use of the system was while the car was stationary. I did use the steering wheel controls a bit but that was for volume and radio channel controls. I’ll try to get a hold of an LE and share my thoughts on that.
I recently got the XLE. Depending on where you live rebates make the car much more affordable and well worth the XLE trim just for the softtex interior. The screen does glare in the sun, but it’s really not THAT bad. The smaller screen glares too though (the smaller one is in my 2016 Prius).
Veronica Convery that’s a high price! Not sure it’s THAT high, I’m sure it’s expensive. I can’t imagine that the screen is 1/5th of the cars MSRP. If the screen is really the only thing you’re debating the LE might be great for you! Traditional buttons+ knobs versus controlling it through the screen. If you have difficulty seeing the LE might be easier to control all of those things too.
@@VeronicaUSA I have the Le and I like the screen. You can tint the car and the big screen is ok. The question is, how much touch screen do you want to be doing? I hate that so it is minimalized with small screen
Do they still offer the smaller display with usable vent controls + CD player in 2020? I'm asking coz we'll be buying a second car next year. If so I'll buy a different color Prime for our second car. If not, am going for a 2020 Corvette. :-)
Yes, they offer the smaller display infotainment system in the LE trim of the 2020 Prius Prime. Best of luck with your car shopping next year! Although the prius prime is great on gas I would get the corvette haha. I will definitely try to review one as soon as they hit the dealership floors!
I currently own a 2017 Prius Prime, and have been thinking about getting a 2020 Prime. Is there much difference between the two? I use Android, so Apple Play doesn't matter.
@@danpawlowski you are right, the LE only has 6 way adjustable seat while the one i reviewed (the XLE) and the limited have the 8 way adjustable seat.
Not a bad looking car but the interior Dash is hideous. What's with these big screens in the middle which distracts the driver. I'm not buying a computer I'm buying a car the speedometer should be in the middle.
I totally see where your coming from. Having driven this car with both the different infotainment display options. I would recommend the 8” over the 11.2” option due primarily to it being a greater distraction.
pros: it feels very good to drive very gas efficient, i drove about 5000 miles the past 5 months and gotten gas once a month really roomy, feel very comfortable for not just myself but for the passengers as well. switching between eco, normal, and turbo feels really good. cons: The screen is fairy unresponsive, i really hate it, it didn't bother me at first but it take like a few second to boot up, the animation is annoying, the caution screen also very annoying cant click "continue" for like 5-15 seconds to access the media, ac ect. Just trying to interact with the screen while driving would make me so frustrated as how unresponsive it is that im sure one day i will get an accident from it. reverse beeping omg why!? less trunk space the software is also very bad, i actually only use apple car play to avoid the UI, the map is complete garbage. Every addon you can get from the toyota app is also awful, sirius xm needs to die, they constantly spam my email and mail me letters. voice control doesnt do anything, but double clicking it while you have apple carplay bring up siri which is kinda nice. driving assist is more annoying then useful, i turned it off the first hour of driving my car from the dealership conclusion: most of my issue is with the software and the tablet touch screen, doing more research it is actually like this for the nearly all cars with touch screen.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I plan on doing an in depth review of the larger infotainment display since I plan on uploading a full review of the 8” display unit. I’m curious to see what you have been experiencing.
Didn't last a minute, can not stand this type of music. About to purchase a Japanese Nissan Skyline hybrid (Infiniti Q50S) but good to see technology being pushed to get a greener planet.

This cars at least 65 mpg in hybrid mode. If you plug in every opportunity then it’s a dream car

@@AndroBoy17 I saw it in Germany a few months ago whiel in traffic . I'm surprised I have not heard about it since
With the Federal and State and SCE rebates our Prius Prime cost $21,500.00 what a deal!!!
What trim did you get? And what stat are you in?
I just bought the 2020 and I wish that they would have done at least 40 miles on EV mode before we have to charge it again.
Congrats! I totally hear you and I think that number will go up as the technology improves.
looks like the problem was adding more range means bigger and heavier battery. so kinda lessens the efficiency of the gas engine.

I currently own and drive a 2020 Prius Prime - Premium. I honestly get 35 miles on electric only, depending on my right foot.
Bruce Johnson you must have no music and no AC the entire time .or maybe your being paid by Toyota to say that. Not sure how that is possible
Andriod auto is only on the base prius. The upgrade trim only comes with Car play.

Your cross shopping a Prius and a corvette? Ok lol
I don't understand why dealerships don't keep EVs and PHEVs charged up on their lots so customers can actually test drive them.
The interior looks really nice but I really don’t like where the speedometer is placed
I totally understand. It does take some getting used to.
Been driving it for a few months. It’s not really a big deal, at all. Everyone in the house has gotten used to it.
Do they still have a problem with curvy roads and the lights going off the road

do front seats have back support?
There is adjustable lumbar support on the seats. Definitely necessary if you plan on doing longer commutes in this vehicle
