Actually I think that Chris has been murdered or possibly had to run away on the trains and his backpack was left behind in the gravel... like how LiS BtS is about Rachel more than Chloe it could be the same for Chris.
Outside Xtra i think the ragged colt thing may go along with how chris uses his siper powers. At first he uses them for whatever (good or not so good) and then he learns the meaning of how to use then
I think what hit me most about Captain Spirit was the bit where you could lie on his parent's bed listening to some of his mums records. It's just quiet and sombre and really reminds you that as much as this kid is pretending to be a superhero, he's a lot deeper than that and I think DontNod need a round of applause for how they handled it.
Caitlin RC It reminded me of the “Lua” moment in season one, very much stopping and just being present in the moment but because of that I also got the looming fear that something was going to go horribly horribly wrong
That was also my favourite part, the zoom in on the expression of his face really touched me. He does feel his pain, it's in everything he does, even but especially in his attempts to escape reality. That look told me he feels there's no escape, and that really resonates with me. Maybe I'm projecting myself onto him, but that's what I felt.
One of the ideas I've heard going around is that we get to see Chris now as a kid and in the actual game we will be following him as a teenager dealing with his powers (possibly freight-hopping). This then makes the kid next door the Ned to his Spiderman, knowing about the power and helping him. This is all based on the fact that the promo shows a bag that does not belong to a child but rather a teenager.
I just assumed he'd be older from "Meet Chris again in Life is Strange 2" I think he is not the main character, but I still think he has powers. The neighbor having powers is weird to me
"Timing matters". And that makes sense really. Chris isn't Max. Max has a Timelordish power where she could just reverse time, so no timing issue for her. Chris has to deal with time not being on his side. This game mechanics is gonna be a new way to play NoNods game, and I sort of like the idea.
Something I liked about the first game was that you could go back and change your immediate choice based on what you think was good then (Even if it may not be in the long run.) but Chris isn't Max II, so it'll be interesting if they completely flip it so time is working against us instead of for us.
I love the idea too, just wait 5 more seconds and you get certain reactions and do it 5 seconds earlier and the story changes completely. Either you're late, early or just in time, it will be different every time for every choice you have to make throughout your gameplay.
I think the protagonist of LIS2 is going to be the neighbour kid, and the story is going to be about Chris teaching this kid with actual superpowers to be a superhero, because even though he doesn't have any powers of his own, he still knows exactly what a superhero should be.
Bailey Alexis Snow i like this idea. Also do we even know when LIS2 will take place? I could see this just being the protagonists early years and in the game proper we pick up when he has become a supremely angsty teen.
I really really dream for something like this. Chris could have such a unique outlook, i could really see him trying to be a positive influence(unlikechloe)
One thing is that 'ragged' doesn't normally mean wild or feckless, it's generally used to mean worn out or frayed, so it could refer to Chris in that he's far more worn and frayed emotionally with his father and the loss of his mother then other kids!
I got the implication that the game will take place a few years after captain spirit when Chris is a teen. Chris dealing with growing up with an abusive dad. Maybe it goes hand in hand with the "Chris is the villain" theory and simply means that Chris still has the potential to be good but it depends on how you, the player, treat him.
What if Chris is the antagonist when he his older?! Think about it mean dad, rough childhood, gets bullied, probably has a temper, sounds like a villain origin story to me!
They sort of did the "Neglectful and overall pretty shitty father ruins child" thing with Nathan though. But if they could shake it up it could be pretty cool to see.
Shogo Kun there's so many hints in the first games that lead to the assumption that Nathan had prophetic powers, that he saw the storm and couldn't do anything about it, then fell into self medicating.. it would be interesting if he was brought back into lis 2
‘Ragged Colt’ could be just the word ‘Ragged’ to be related to the beat up looking backpack. Could be that the game is focused around a homeless teen or train hopper who also realizes they have powers. Could get feels of the homeless section from Beyond: Two Souls.
You kinda guessed it here. Played Life is strange 2 now and the two protagonists, Sean and Daniel, do turn out homeless and at the end of episode 2 they do train hop. And one of them has powers. (I'm not gonna give away too much, just in case somebody scrolling down hasn't played the game yet.)
One semi I theory I have is that the drivers that killed William, paralyzed Chloe in alternate timeline and killed Chris's mom are the same driver. We never get many details on any these accidents, none of the drivers were caught and Beavercreek is supposed to be near Arcadia bay, so it is possible.
greenliongirl07 it’s most likely a different driver for William and Chloe too... Chloe got in the accident I believe 6 years after her dad was suppose to die because it was around the time of her first car (16) her dad died long before that in the other timeline
Mental Popcorn Probably. The only reason I even made the connection is car accidents feel like they happen too often in the LiS universe. In the original, yes we had a school shooting, teen sucide due to bullying, accidental gun death, getting hit a train, drug overdose, death by gun shot and a teacher killing two students and almost killing a 3rd with the exception of the last two (and possibly first) these instances just happen once. However, the car accidents even happening years apart and off camera come across as more common. It maybe an oversite or just a quick way to kill off parents or have someone get crippling injured without having to give much detail and leave emotionally scarred children.
Only problem is the year don't add up. Chris mom die in 2015. William die in 2008 and Chloe accident is in 2010. But what we can say is that Max might be the reason that the mom is dead.
asia911 The mystery driver might not have been hurt in any of the accidents, at least not to the point that they couldn't leave the scene. I feel like if Chloe knew the name of that driver who killed William, she would've gone out of her way to get to them. Chloe's accident in the alternate reality left her paralyzed; the other driver is never named, but judging by the struggles to pay Chloe's medical bills that driver was not identified. Her parents could've sued the driver to help pay for her bills. I feel if the other driver had died, didn't have insurance/ under insured, been put in jail, had payed, or if Chloe had been found at fault either William, Joyce or Chloe would've said or hinted at it. We know Chris's mom was killed in a hit and run while she was outside her car and that traffic camera footage is either being covered up or can't be used due to a glitch or problem with the footage. Like I said we never get many details on each accident and people get different cars. Even years a part it could be the same person. But I will admit it might just be car accidents are more common than I think and it is just their quick way to kill off characters or have life changing events happen off screen. It just seems weird that all 3 accidents are hit and run without the other driver getting caught. Thinking about it like this turns hit and runs into a comp out. We need Tim's twin to die before the story so we can emotionally damage this character: hit and run, don't worry about details.
It's not really same. If they don't have the same power as Max it's seems like it's don't really cause anything. Max was playing with the time, always jumping before and after, causing the trouble, but their powers are just basic as flying, fire, water invisibility, etc, no troubles.
*SPOILERS* It’s probably going to be like the Marvel universe. All heroes, villains, and anti-heroes have power levels judging by what they can do. Max has the ability to break and bend the universe to her will which can cause total destruction. Which would make Max one of if not the strongest character at least in the Marvel universe. Doctor Strange has the ability to bend time but it’s technically not his power and I’m pretty sure he didn’t use it in his fight with Thanos because it would either take up too much energy since they’ve only one once in over millions of scenarios or maybe he didn’t want It to get taken away by Thanos because there is no way to loop or reverse time once it’s ripped out of its a socket. Apparently Chris has telekinesis which won’t do much (like push and pull) unless he unlocks more abilities like Max did along the way.
Well, max power caused natural disase because max fucked up the timeline constantly, and it seemed like the universe wanted to get rid if her because of that, like your body trues tog get rid of diseases. The kids power seems like way smaller, so it wouldnt cause thing like that, but max power started out smaller and hardly controllable, and after some point she was able to stop time or go back years. But one thing is sure,chriss power totally wont cause trouble the same way as max, and the butterfly effect wont comm after him, but his power is realy easy to see, and he could have problem with actual humans interested in that.
I have always called bullshit on Max's powers causing the storm because she had the premonition prior to any use whatsoever, and considering it's all time travel the fact that somehow time travelling to before she used it the first time means that she never used them as far as the universe is concerned? How come she remembers then? The way the ending was handled is awful, and that's why I'll always choose Chloe. Just honestly awful writing for the part.
I was really sad because I didn't want to do all the whimsical fun stuff after breaking the glass in the sink. I was afraid of making noise, angering dad, and getting Chris in trouble.
They really did a good job at portraying an abusive alcoholic parent who can't deal with what life has dealt him. There are little bits here and there that humanize him and show that deep down under all the hurt he isn't or at least didn't used to be a bad guy or dad, but that's no excuse for his actions now, never is. Too many good people fall into these cycles and addictions they refuse or feel they can't change and become horrible people who do irreparable damage to their loved ones. Was a bit hard for me to play this little game but I think it's so important.
I think the worst part of the whole thing is that we don't have anything funny to say about this observation and we'll never be quoted in the Comment's section on Show of the Weekend... that THE WORST PART. /cry
Definitely. I was so preoccupied with not making the dad angry I didn't do any of the playing. The only bad choice I made was steal and smoke a cigarette. Then I was honestly scared thinking I might as well have gave Chris a black eye myself.
my theory was that Chris mom's spirit protecting Chris throughout the series like how Gaara found out it was his mom's love that been protecting him all this time. Nothing stronger than a mother's love Or my other theory will be that Max created an alternate timeline by mistake

"Out-maneuver his dad's bad moods"- That's a good way of putting it, and it's an interesting way to play a character in any choice-based game. The street signs as a manifestation of Chris' enemies were also a great touch. I love this series. Also, I love these two!
(SPOILERS ABOUT SEASON 2)Someone made a post on reddit about the files found in the game, and it turns out that the main protagonist will be Sean, he's the older brother standing next to the kid we see at the ending(Daniel). It's also possible you'll be able to play as Daniel. Also, the choices you make in Captain Spirit and LIS season 1 will affect season 2. There's more information about season 2 on that post, in case you don't mind minor spoilers.
pumpkin pie me too I saw that too in the Post there stand that you can switch between sean and Daniel and that Daniel has the move Power and sean the destory and a hint about the Power of them both is that Chris used destorying Power or move Power in his Imagination but I looked for a comment from this Post

So I have two ideas based off of the Captain Spirit playable teaser we got. 1. The reason we now have "timed" decisions in LiS2 is because Max's time powers screwed up the time quilt (See Dragon Age Inquisition's Dorian talking about Alexius messing with time travel for that reference) and so now you, the player, have to make the most of every second because she went all Flashpoint timeline on Arcadia Bay no matter if you saved Chloe or Arcadia Bay. 2. This is a longshot theory at best, but my theory is that Chris is actually saved by his mom's ghost and the neighbor kid can see ghosts so he's just like "Oh so my neighbor's mom just caught him from falling and hurting himself, cool". So that means that the neighbor boy obviously has powers, but the fact that the ghost of Chris' mom is still around to take care of him, if you ask me that's kind of a power in itself. Like somebody tries to attack Chris and suddenly they're being lifted off the ground and thrown out the door by an invisible ghost, and Chris is just like "Bye!!" I consider that a power even if it's a ghost doing all the work for you. Also ghosts are also called "spirits" so that's a connection, admittedly a loose connection at best, but still, who knows. I mean aside from the producers, writers, animators, and anyone working on the actual game that is.
Cool theory, but how would you rationalize the evident abuse from chris' father ie the big bruise on his wrist that his father apologizes for? I like that this idea could apply to why the neighbour was out walking too if a ghost saw what was going on and somehow got her to go for a walk.
Honestly, I can't. I'd like to think that a mother, dead or alive, would do anything to protect her child even if it's from the man she loves and married, but I also know that there are real life instances where this is not the case. Where one parent is abusive and the other does nothing to stop it. It's possible that the ghost of Chris' mom blames the alcohol more than Chris' dad, but I really don't know. It's just a theory though so I could be completely wrong.
I think the neighbor kid might not be real? He waves at Chris, who waves back, and then the dad/older brother/person waves back again, kind of like he doesn't see the kid.

While I did think the whole encounter was awkward, I don't think its weird or unbelievable for a LiS game. Itd be really cool if that was something big, since its not what people are thinking about but i dunno

There is another instance of timing affecting the dialogue. If you wait to long before giving your dad the mac and cheese, he will complain that's it's a little cold and not compliment you at all for your cooking.

If I am not mistaken, Dontnod explicitly said Chris won't be the protagonist of Lis2; I think it'll be the neighbour (the younger one) and Chris will accompany in the same way Chloe accompanied Max in the first game.
Theory: Chris is a main character in LIS 2... the antagonist. He develops a fixation on people with powers, and the game actually takes place 10/15 years in the future.
I’d be happy with a game centered on Chris. But maybe it will jump a few years to when he is in middle/high school so we get that teen drama Luke is so keen on. 😄
Oh, the moment that made the game for me is when you open the treasure and it's pictures of your family and of your mum. Man, I cried in front of my gf.
Chris has the powers because the powers emerged out of stress. It wouldn't make sense if the neighbors had then because that's not stressful. He's not gonna get hurt. Plus I think Jefferson is actually Chris's dad. Like they(Mark and Chris's mom) hit it off when they were young then they split. And when Max kept changing the timeline the consequence was Chris getting powers. Maybe when Chris falls, the timeline changes, and he starts to hover. His powers kick in. BOOM THEORY!!!!!
I like how they tie some things in. Chris has a dad that works on the railroad, Chole and Rachel rode a train, Chole and Max walk on a railroad. some of these things are subtle but cool
My theory, for what it's worth, is that this is what, in fencing circles is called a _feint_ which is when you make your opponent think that you're going to attack in a certain way, but when they move to block or parry, you attack from a different direction. Because that's what they do in LiS, y'think things are going along fine and then, ooohhh, right in the feels. So theorise, speculate, discuss all you want, I fully expect that at the end of the day, people will be saying _touché_ Don'tNod, _touché_ indeed.
I think Chris is going to be an antagonist of LiS2. I know a lot of people love him now, but I think he could become a Victoria character of sorts. This game is meant to show a more innocent Chris before years of an abusive childhood make him into a mean teenager.
Also, yeah, I found Chris to be a pretty realistic depiction of a child without a good adult in his life. Doing all the chores his dad should be doing, escaping into a dream world where he's a superhero, covering up for his dad when people worry, and so on .
I love when we talk about life is strange :) I never thought about the idea of Chris not being the main, although with all those points it really does make sense. I saw the ending scene as more of a "Chris is not alone" thing, especially with the neighbour dropping by beforehand. I've been thinking alot about why each person got what power and if the protagonist isn't chris or he doesn't have powers, it's a big misdirection. I know it's a stretch but It could be that each protagonist has had a power so far, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the theory that Chloe has the power of silver tongue to show her rebellious and fiercely independent attributes. Max has rewind, I think it's because she's timid, anxious, reflects on situations alot, and is overall indecisive. Chris, even if it is a misdirect, could have gained the power of telekinesis, or maybe it could even be combustion and the firecrackers were a misdirection, because of the definite powerlessness of being with his father, having been unable to save his mother, and the guilt of his father blaming him could be spun to a child to have them believe they could or should have been able to do something. It's a stretch, I just want some thoughts. Chloe's power is so slight and unpronounced if it is a power I'd be surprised, but I love the idea. Her rebellion and independent nature made manifest in unearthly tact and debating strategies for being so young. Chloe's smart and can be ruthless, but isn't it odd that they put a mechanic in that she could always win certain arguments she truly feels she needs to win for the right reasons? EDIT: Chloe's power could also be using silver tongue to make people self destruct like she knows she has been, but could also be inadvertantly using it on herself for the right reasons. Alot of good and bad ways to use a silver tongue power, which makes it even more far fetched: It's a fun idea I think. The young colt could be talking about the main character, if it's not Chris and the teaser trailers bag is any indication, we could be playing a protagonist "from the other side of the tracks" so to speak. I'm not saying it cant be the kid from next door, but maybe that young kid has big issues of his own, acts out alot before we commandeer his life, and that's why he sees and chooses to help Chris because he feels he's too far gone, but Chris is a good kid with a future.

Great video guys! Some really interesting theories, they have definitely got me thinking. My first theory is also that the neighbour will be the main character in LIS2. I wonder if it will have a similar relation to LIS1 where the neighbour kid discovers his powers by saving Chris when he falls from the treehouse/even potentially saving Chris from his dad at some point (like Max discovered hers by saving Chloe) and then will have the heartbreaking decision at the end of the game to go back to have Chris die falling from the treehouse/not save him from his dad in order to restore things to normal. I hope that isn't the case, but just a thought I had whilst playing this myself :) Although it would be cool to play as Chris again as I liked his character, maybe they might include playing as multiple characters. I do like you guys' theory of there being multiple people with powers like Heroes, I think that would be a great route for the game to go down. Another random thought I have is it would be cool if they did a similar idea to Detroit: Become Human but with Humans vs Humans with powers, them wanting to be given the same rites as humans, multiple characters with different storylines, multiple routes to play through, that kind of thing would be really interesting to see in the LIS world :) xx p.s. Imagine if the 'ragged colt' reference is some kind of anagram for a character in the upcoming game or something that will be a big part of the new game! :)
You guys were somewhat right! Yes, there was a kid with powers, but powers weren't everything when it came to survival the game! And the psychosis is felt when that gas station worker CALLS BORDER CONTROL ON TWO KIDS! Captain spirit was mostly fun and deep though!
They tell you your choices the game will affect your save file in LIS2. Your choices are only talking to the neighbor lady and designing Captain Spirit. Given that and the "runaway" aspect, especially with the abuse, I think it's clear Chris is the main character. He's gonna run away. It'll be his adventures as he tries to survive the Winter in his imagination.
Maybe Chris will be an antagonist in the next game, and we are given a tragic background story to empathize a little. Just like LiS:BtS did with Nathan and his dad.
I just noticed something during the video. In the scene where Chris is able to make a choice between letting the car hit the citizen or interfering, its foreshadowing(?) to what supposedly happened to Chris's mum!
I have a theory, tho I may just be stupid but the hawtdog man comic reminded me a bit of Life is strange, about the start where the hotdog guy got splashed by water, it reminded of the car scene in life is strange when Max and Warren was talking then suddenly Someone was there ( I forgot) and then the car when Max chooses Chloe and leaves Warren to fight the guy (when the mustard picks up hawtdog man) Then the big robot thing was “The storm” and the mustard and hawtdog man was Chloe and Max Not sure, maybe I missed something out but yeah
I'm really intrigued by the concept of the timing mattering and things sort of passing you by as you're completing other actions for LIS2. I hadn't been much surprised by Chris's dad calling him, or by his reaction whether or not you answer the phone in a timely fashion when it rings but the one that really surprised me was when I cooked him the mac and cheese. I put it in the microwave and got sucked into looking at all the things in the living room, and was surprised when his dad not only complained about why the microwave had been beeping (the mac and cheese was done) but also commented on the fact that the mac and cheese was cold when I served it to him. Seems like it will be a really interesting gameplay feature moving forward.
I personally think Charles and Frank are siblings or cousins. They're too similar not to be. That could be another thing that links together Life is Strange and Captain Spirit. Just a simple thought.
It's also possible that the new game could be about Charles and Emily during their teenage years. Maybe Emily had powers and that's how Chris has them?
I think/hope that the reason they released this was to show when chris first got his powers and for Life is Strange 2 they will do a time jump to when he is a teen in high school with these powers and he is best friends with the neighbor boy. as luke said we need that high school drama.
I say the main thing in the life is strange universe, these powers are born from a dramatically trauma from an Indigo Children, that some manifest them vastly, while some just can see the glimpse of it like Rachel, I mean Max gets his powers all thought because of that butterfly photo, but I think that photo was just a way to make people believed about the butterfly effect theory or in other terms its a way to sidetrack people on the manifestation of Max's power, while I personally think Max actually manifest her power from the trauma when she saw a random girl (at first) to be shot in her sight, but maybe in her heart Max already knows that the random girl is Chloe, making the moment of trauma even more convincing for the power that Max had received in that very moment. Oh yeah and if you don't know, Indigo Children are people who believed to possess special, unusual, and sometimes supernatural traits, or in Life Is Strange terms, supernatural prowess/power. But don't quote me on this, this is all merely a theory I'd like to share.

Ya know... it would be kind of cool if Jane and Luke did a play-through of Life is Strange while talking through each decision before the release of 2. I’m thinking that the “Ragged Colt” is Nathan Prescott. He’s certainly young, and wild would be something of an understatement. He seemed to have been mentally and emotionally broken before Jefferson came on scene - as his father wasn’t exactly loving - and I think Jefferson put pressure on him as an authority figure, and used him for his social connections at Blackwell, as well as his family ties. Everything that happened with Rachel also clearly broke him even more - see his manic scrawlings of “Rachel in the Dark Room” in Wells’ office. I also seem to remember reading something about how Mr Prescott - that is, Nathan’s father - was supposed to have a larger, more antagonistic role in the first game. I mean, Before The Storm paints him as more of a sympathetic character, a young man who’s father is emotionally distant, who’s bullied because his family is awful. He even gets a love interest in Samantha Myers. We could be looking at some kind of redemption story for him, one in which he tries to undo some of the damage he did. I don’t know, I just like the idea that even someone who is as broken as Nathan Prescott could have some sort of redemption. That’s just my thoughts.
WXRLORD The Pricefield ending where only Chloe and Max survive, obviously. I'm sure the developers created all those complex characters so I can selfishly kill them later, right?
I'd hope it's the one where Max sacrifices Chloe. I mean, it sucks, but it's the one which creates a solid character arc (and doesn't lead to the destruction of an entire city).
The canon ending is arcadia bay.. its been confirmed by them awhile ago the main point of LIS is a coming of age story and to not look back at your mistakes and try to change them but move on and progress forward. The dev and writers already talked about this. If you wonder something theirs a nice thing called google with TONS of links you can click and read. of course theirs also books but idk any books on Life is strange lol EDIT: the writers never out right said which ending it was, but it was highly suggested and hinted at the arcadia bay one, especially common sense cause of the huge impact Acadia bay being destroyed would have while chloe dying.. really doesn't change much and throughout the whole game chloe is dying and you have to save her (i know i was able to guess that part of the ending back in like episode 2 or 3 before 4 and 5 were out, im sure others did too) so saving her one last time doesn't make sense, especially cause she'll likely still have to die and all max did is kill more people in the process. Add on it leaves Jefferson either dead or alone with David. Too much bs goes on and assumptions with the chloe living ending, makes the most sense that it'll be vague and not talked about EVER again OR they will choose the arcadia bay which is still debatable since people will be pissed off about it
Divine Potato The devs said time and again in interviews that none of the endings are canon. That's one of the reasons LiS 2 will focus in diferent characters and locations. Follow your own advice and use google, friend.

OMG!!!!!!!!! More feeeels! The neighbour kid is Ethan Reynolds, the grandson of Claire who knocks on the door and ask if Chris is ok) Most likely he will be a love interest for Chris. Because if he is the protagonist we will have yet another superhero whos friend's parent died in a car crash.

The name Ethan is written on a paper during the end credits, Chris didn't mention any previous friends named "Ethan" so it's clearly a name that have significane and I guess that it will be his future partner in crime.

Just a heads up, the two kids in the end are brothers and grandchildren of the neighbour lady. She tells that if pick certain dialog choice in the conversation with her. I agree that one or possibly bothe of them are the protagonist(s) of LIS 2.

There is one more Easter Egg not many would pick up on is when you look at the Spi9der in Chris's Room he calls his pet Spider Baby and mentions her catching something in her web. Referencing to the movie Spider Baby from 1968!

I don't think his dad is a bad guy. I think he is broken and the whiskey made him mean because when he is sober(ish) he is loving and truly kind. You can tell Chris loves his dad and does fear him until he is drunk.
Lrbearclaw I'm sure fathers would relate. There's a lot of things people without children don't really get until they are in that role, it's all very jarring, life may be strange, but it can also be tough and incredibly cruel. Chris will likely become an antagonist in Lis2.

I could see the multiverse becoming a plot point. If you look at one of the pictures in the store there is a patch that says "hole to another universe". Might be a long shot but it makes sense. When Max uses her powers in LIS to go back in time she is essentially creating alternate universes.

I think what hit me most about Captain Spirit was the bit where you could lie on his parent's bed listening to some of his mums records. It's just quiet and sombre and really reminds you that as much as this kid is pretending to be a superhero, he's a lot deeper than that and I think DontNod need a round of applause for how they handled it.

That was also my favourite part, the zoom in on the expression of his face really touched me. He does feel his pain, it's in everything he does, even but especially in his attempts to escape reality. That look told me he feels there's no escape, and that really resonates with me. Maybe I'm projecting myself onto him, but that's what I felt.
One of the ideas I've heard going around is that we get to see Chris now as a kid and in the actual game we will be following him as a teenager dealing with his powers (possibly freight-hopping). This then makes the kid next door the Ned to his Spiderman, knowing about the power and helping him. This is all based on the fact that the promo shows a bag that does not belong to a child but rather a teenager.
I thought the same thing...and maybe Chris is troubled or uses his powers in a selfish way hence the ragged colt thing

Chris isn't Max. Max has a Timelordish power where she could just reverse time, so no timing issue for her. Chris has to deal with time not being on his side. This game mechanics is gonna be a new way to play NoNods game, and I sort of like the idea.
Something I liked about the first game was that you could go back and change your immediate choice based on what you think was good then (Even if it may not be in the long run.) but Chris isn't Max II, so it'll be interesting if they completely flip it so time is working against us instead of for us.

I think the protagonist of LIS2 is going to be the neighbour kid, and the story is going to be about Chris teaching this kid with actual superpowers to be a superhero, because even though he doesn't have any powers of his own, he still knows exactly what a superhero should be.

One thing is that 'ragged' doesn't normally mean wild or feckless, it's generally used to mean worn out or frayed, so it could refer to Chris in that he's far more worn and frayed emotionally with his father and the loss of his mother then other kids!
I got the implication that the game will take place a few years after captain spirit when Chris is a teen. Chris dealing with growing up with an abusive dad. Maybe it goes hand in hand with the "Chris is the villain" theory and simply means that Chris still has the potential to be good but it depends on how you, the player, treat him.
i got to agree with luke on this one, the "heroes" situation theory actually sounds plausible and it would open up for a lot of more games.

You kinda guessed it here. Played Life is strange 2 now and the two protagonists, Sean and Daniel, do turn out homeless and at the end of episode 2 they do train hop. And one of them has powers. (I'm not gonna give away too much, just in case somebody scrolling down hasn't played the game yet.)
One semi I theory I have is that the drivers that killed William, paralyzed Chloe in alternate timeline and killed Chris's mom are the same driver.
We never get many details on any these accidents, none of the drivers were caught and Beavercreek is supposed to be near Arcadia bay, so it is possible.
greenliongirl07 it’s most likely a different driver for William and Chloe too... Chloe got in the accident I believe 6 years after her dad was suppose to die because it was around the time of her first car (16) her dad died long before that in the other timeline
Mental Popcorn Probably. The only reason I even made the connection is car accidents feel like they happen too often in the LiS universe. In the original, yes we had a school shooting, teen sucide due to bullying, accidental gun death, getting hit a train, drug overdose, death by gun shot and a teacher killing two students and almost killing a 3rd with the exception of the last two (and possibly first) these instances just happen once. However, the car accidents even happening years apart and off camera come across as more common. It maybe an oversite or just a quick way to kill off parents or have someone get crippling injured without having to give much detail and leave emotionally scarred children.

Only problem is the year don't add up. Chris mom die in 2015. William die in 2008 and Chloe accident is in 2010. But what we can say is that Max might be the reason that the mom is dead.
asia911 The mystery driver might not have been hurt in any of the accidents, at least not to the point that they couldn't leave the scene. I feel like if Chloe knew the name of that driver who killed William, she would've gone out of her way to get to them. Chloe's accident in the alternate reality left her paralyzed; the other driver is never named, but judging by the struggles to pay Chloe's medical bills that driver was not identified. Her parents could've sued the driver to help pay for her bills. I feel if the other driver had died, didn't have insurance/ under insured, been put in jail, had payed, or if Chloe had been found at fault either William, Joyce or Chloe would've said or hinted at it. We know Chris's mom was killed in a hit and run while she was outside her car and that traffic camera footage is either being covered up or can't be used due to a glitch or problem with the footage. Like I said we never get many details on each accident and people get different cars. Even years a part it could be the same person.
But I will admit it might just be car accidents are more common than I think and it is just their quick way to kill off characters or have life changing events happen off screen. It just seems weird that all 3 accidents are hit and run without the other driver getting caught. Thinking about it like this turns hit and runs into a comp out. We need Tim's twin to die before the story so we can emotionally damage this character: hit and run, don't worry about details.
But if more people have powers are they gonna be causing natural disasters like Max did? cause if not I feel even more sorry for Max and Chloe.
It's not really same. If they don't have the same power as Max it's seems like it's don't really cause anything. Max was playing with the time, always jumping before and after, causing the trouble, but their powers are just basic as flying, fire, water invisibility, etc, no troubles.

It’s probably going to be like the Marvel universe. All heroes, villains, and anti-heroes have power levels judging by what they can do. Max has the ability to break and bend the universe to her will which can cause total destruction. Which would make Max one of if not the strongest character at least in the Marvel universe. Doctor Strange has the ability to bend time but it’s technically not his power and I’m pretty sure he didn’t use it in his fight with Thanos because it would either take up too much energy since they’ve only one once in over millions of scenarios or maybe he didn’t want It to get taken away by Thanos because there is no way to loop or reverse time once it’s ripped out of its a socket. Apparently Chris has telekinesis which won’t do much (like push and pull) unless he unlocks more abilities like Max did along the way.
Well, max power caused natural disase because max fucked up the timeline constantly, and it seemed like the universe wanted to get rid if her because of that, like your body trues tog get rid of diseases. The kids power seems like way smaller, so it wouldnt cause thing like that, but max power started out smaller and hardly controllable, and after some point she was able to stop time or go back years. But one thing is sure,chriss power totally wont cause trouble the same way as max, and the butterfly effect wont comm after him, but his power is realy easy to see, and he could have problem with actual humans interested in that.
I have always called bullshit on Max's powers causing the storm because she had the premonition prior to any use whatsoever, and considering it's all time travel the fact that somehow time travelling to before she used it the first time means that she never used them as far as the universe is concerned? How come she remembers then? The way the ending was handled is awful, and that's why I'll always choose Chloe. Just honestly awful writing for the part.
I was really sad because I didn't want to do all the whimsical fun stuff after breaking the glass in the sink. I was afraid of making noise, angering dad, and getting Chris in trouble.

They really did a good job at portraying an abusive alcoholic parent who can't deal with what life has dealt him. There are little bits here and there that humanize him and show that deep down under all the hurt he isn't or at least didn't used to be a bad guy or dad, but that's no excuse for his actions now, never is. Too many good people fall into these cycles and addictions they refuse or feel they can't change and become horrible people who do irreparable damage to their loved ones. Was a bit hard for me to play this little game but I think it's so important.
I think the worst part of the whole thing is that we don't have anything funny to say about this observation and we'll never be quoted in the Comment's section on Show of the Weekend... that THE WORST PART. /cry
Definitely. I was so preoccupied with not making the dad angry I didn't do any of the playing. The only bad choice I made was steal and smoke a cigarette. Then I was honestly scared thinking I might as well have gave Chris a black eye myself.

It's also possible you'll be able to play as Daniel. Also, the choices you make in Captain Spirit and LIS season 1 will affect season 2. So I have two ideas based off of the Captain Spirit playable teaser we got. 1. The reason we now have "timed" decisions in LiS2 is because Max's time powers screwed up the time quilt (See Dragon Age Inquisition's Dorian talking about Alexius messing with time travel for that reference) and so now you, the player, have to make the most of every second because she went all Flashpoint timeline on Arcadia Bay no matter if you saved Chloe or Arcadia Bay. 2. This is a longshot theory at best, but my theory is that Chris is actually saved by his mom's ghost and the neighbor kid can see ghosts so he's just like "Oh so my neighbor's mom just caught him from falling and hurting himself, cool". So that means that the neighbor boy obviously has powers, but the fact that the ghost of Chris' mom is still around to take care of him, if you ask me that's kind of a power in itself. Like somebody tries to attack Chris and suddenly they're being lifted off the ground and thrown out the door by an invisible ghost, and Chris is just like "Bye!!" I consider that a power even if it's a ghost doing all the work for you. Also ghosts are also called "spirits" so that's a connection, admittedly a loose connection at best, but still, who knows. I mean aside from the producers, writers, animators, and anyone working on the actual game that is.

Cool theory, but how would you rationalize the evident abuse from chris' father ie the big bruise on his wrist that his father apologizes for? I like that this idea could apply to why the neighbour was out walking too if a ghost saw what was going on and somehow got her to go for a walk.

Honestly, I can't. I'd like to think that a mother, dead or alive, would do anything to protect her child even if it's from the man she loves and married, but I also know that there are real life instances where this is not the case. Where one parent is abusive and the other does nothing to stop it. It's possible that the ghost of Chris' mom blames the alcohol more than Chris' dad, but I really don't know. It's just a theory though so I could be completely wrong.
It would be like Beyond: Two Souls way too much though. That's almost a direct copy.
I think the neighbor kid might not be real? He waves at Chris, who waves back, and then the dad/older brother/person waves back again, kind of like he doesn't see the kid.

I couldn't agree more with Luke's theories. If I am not mistaken, Dontnod explicitly said Chris won't be the protagonist of Lis2; I think it'll be the neighbour (the younger one) and Chris will accompany in the same way Chloe accompanied Max in the first game.
Theory:
Chris is a main character in LIS 2... the antagonist. He develops a fixation on people with powers, and the game actually takes place 10/15 years in the future.

Oh, the moment that made the game for me is when you open the treasure and it's pictures of your family and of your mum. Man, I cried in front of my gf.
Chris has the powers because the powers emerged out of stress. It wouldn't make sense if the neighbors had then because that's not stressful. He's not gonna get hurt. Plus I think Jefferson is actually Chris's dad. Like they(Mark and Chris's mom) hit it off when they were young then they split. And when Max kept changing the timeline the consequence was Chris getting powers. Maybe when Chris falls, the timeline changes, and he starts to hover. His powers kick in. BOOM THEORY!!!!!

I like how they tie some things in. Chris has a dad that works on the railroad, Chole and Rachel rode a train, Chole and Max walk on a railroad. some of these things are subtle but cool
My theory, for what it's worth, is that this is what, in fencing circles is called a _feint_ which is when you make your opponent think that you're going to attack in a certain way, but when they move to block or parry, you attack from a different direction. Because that's what they do in LiS, y'think things are going along fine and then, ooohhh, right in the feels. So theorise, speculate, discuss all you want, I fully expect that at the end of the day, people will be saying _touché_ Don'tNod, _touché_ indeed.

I think Chris is going to be an antagonist of LiS2. I know a lot of people love him now, but I think he could become a Victoria character of sorts. This game is meant to show a more innocent Chris before years of an abusive childhood make him into a mean teenager.

The ragged colt proverb is actually Irish in origin. The original is more like: "Many a ragged colt made a noble horse"
Also, yeah, I found Chris to be a pretty realistic depiction of a child without a good adult in his life. Doing all the chores his dad should be doing, escaping into a dream world where he's a superhero, covering up for his dad when people worry, and so on .
The kids at the end are the old lady's grandkids if you convince her everything is fine she tells Chris they came over for Christmas
I love when we talk about life is strange :) I never thought about the idea of Chris not being the main, although with all those points it really does make sense. I saw the ending scene as more of a "Chris is not alone" thing, especially with the neighbour dropping by beforehand. I've been thinking alot about why each person got what power and if the protagonist isn't chris or he doesn't have powers, it's a big misdirection. I know it's a stretch but It could be that each protagonist has had a power so far, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the theory that Chloe has the power of silver tongue to show her rebellious and fiercely independent attributes. Max has rewind, I think it's because she's timid, anxious, reflects on situations alot, and is overall indecisive. Chris, even if it is a misdirect, could have gained the power of telekinesis, or maybe it could even be combustion and the firecrackers were a misdirection, because of the definite powerlessness of being with his father, having been unable to save his mother, and the guilt of his father blaming him could be spun to a child to have them believe they could or should have been able to do something. It's a stretch, I just want some thoughts. Chloe's power is so slight and unpronounced if it is a power I'd be surprised, but I love the idea. Her rebellion and independent nature made manifest in unearthly tact and debating strategies for being so young. Chloe's smart and can be ruthless, but isn't it odd that they put a mechanic in that she could always win certain arguments she truly feels she needs to win for the right reasons? EDIT: Chloe's power could also be using silver tongue to make people self destruct like she knows she has been, but could also be inadvertantly using it on herself for the right reasons. Alot of good and bad ways to use a silver tongue power, which makes it even more far fetched: It's a fun idea I think. The young colt could be talking about the main character, if it's not Chris and the teaser trailers bag is any indication, we could be playing a protagonist "from the other side of the tracks" so to speak. I'm not saying it cant be the kid from next door, but maybe that young kid has big issues of his own, acts out alot before we commandeer his life, and that's why he sees and chooses to help Chris because he feels he's too far gone, but Chris is a good kid with a future.

I wonder if it will have a similar relation to LIS1 where the neighbour kid discovers his powers by saving Chris when he falls from the treehouse/even potentially saving Chris from his dad at some point (like Max discovered hers by saving Chloe) and then will have the heartbreaking decision at the end of the game to go back to have Chris die falling from the treehouse/not save him from his dad in order to restore things to normal. I hope that isn't the case, but just a thought I had whilst playing this myself :) Although it would be cool to play as Chris again as I liked his character, maybe they might include playing as multiple characters. I do like you guys' theory of there being multiple people with powers like Heroes, I think that would be a great route for the game to go down.
Another random thought I have is it would be cool if they did a similar idea to Detroit: Become Human but with Humans vs Humans with powers, them wanting to be given the same rites as humans, multiple characters with different storylines, multiple routes to play through, that kind of thing would be really interesting to see in the LIS world :) xx
p.s. Imagine if the 'ragged colt' reference is some kind of anagram for a character in the upcoming game or something that will be a big part of the new game! :)

They tell you your choices the game will affect your save file in LIS2. Your choices are only talking to the neighbor lady and designing Captain Spirit. Given that and the "runaway" aspect, especially with the abuse, I think it's clear Chris is the main character. He's gonna run away. It'll be his adventures as he tries to survive the Winter in his imagination.
I like how Max is a Doe and this new main character is a Colt. Neat how the kept up that theme.
Maybe Chris will be an antagonist in the next game, and we are given a tragic background story to empathize a little. Just like LiS:BtS did with Nathan and his dad.

I have a theory, tho I may just be stupid but the hawtdog man comic reminded me a bit of Life is strange, about the start where the hotdog guy got splashed by water, it reminded of the car scene in life is strange when Max and Warren was talking then suddenly Someone was there ( I forgot) and then the car when Max chooses Chloe and leaves Warren to fight the guy (when the mustard picks up hawtdog man)
Then the big robot thing was “The storm” and the mustard and hawtdog man was Chloe and Max

I'm really intrigued by the concept of the timing mattering and things sort of passing you by as you're completing other actions for LIS2. I hadn't been much surprised by Chris's dad calling him, or by his reaction whether or not you answer the phone in a timely fashion when it rings but the one that really surprised me was when I cooked him the mac and cheese. I put it in the microwave and got sucked into looking at all the things in the living room, and was surprised when his dad not only complained about why the microwave had been beeping (the mac and cheese was done) but also commented on the fact that the mac and cheese was cold when I served it to him. Seems like it will be a really interesting gameplay feature moving forward.

I personally think Charles and Frank are siblings or cousins. They're too similar not to be. That could be another thing that links together Life is Strange and Captain Spirit. Just a simple thought.
It's also possible that the new game could be about Charles and Emily during their teenage years. Maybe Emily had powers and that's how Chris has them?
I think/hope that the reason they released this was to show when chris first got his powers and for Life is Strange 2 they will do a time jump to when he is a teen in high school with these powers and he is best friends with the neighbor boy. as luke said we need that high school drama.

I say the main thing in the life is strange universe, these powers are born from a dramatically trauma from an Indigo Children, that some manifest them vastly, while some just can see the glimpse of it like Rachel, I mean Max gets his powers all thought because of that butterfly photo, but I think that photo was just a way to make people believed about the butterfly effect theory or in other terms its a way to sidetrack people on the manifestation of Max's power, while I personally think Max actually manifest her power from the trauma when she saw a random girl (at first) to be shot in her sight, but maybe in her heart Max already knows that the random girl is Chloe, making the moment of trauma even more convincing for the power that Max had received in that very moment.
Oh yeah and if you don't know, Indigo Children are people who believed to possess special, unusual, and sometimes supernatural traits, or in Life Is Strange terms, supernatural prowess/power. But don't quote me on this, this is all merely a theory I'd like to share.

I’m thinking that the “Ragged Colt” is Nathan Prescott. He’s certainly young, and wild would be something of an understatement. He seemed to have been mentally and emotionally broken before Jefferson came on scene - as his father wasn’t exactly loving - and I think Jefferson put pressure on him as an authority figure, and used him for his social connections at Blackwell, as well as his family ties. Everything that happened with Rachel also clearly broke him even more - see his manic scrawlings of “Rachel in the Dark Room” in Wells’ office. I also seem to remember reading something about how Mr Prescott - that is, Nathan’s father - was supposed to have a larger, more antagonistic role in the first game. I mean, Before The Storm paints him as more of a sympathetic character, a young man who’s father is emotionally distant, who’s bullied because his family is awful. He even gets a love interest in Samantha Myers. We could be looking at some kind of redemption story for him, one in which he tries to undo some of the damage he did. I don’t know, I just like the idea that even someone who is as broken as Nathan Prescott could have some sort of redemption. That’s just my thoughts.

the main point of LIS is a coming of age story and to not look back at your mistakes and try to change them but move on and progress forward.

EDIT: the writers never out right said which ending it was, but it was highly suggested and hinted at the arcadia bay one, especially common sense cause of the huge impact Acadia bay being destroyed would have while chloe dying.. really doesn't change much
and throughout the whole game chloe is dying and you have to save her (i know i was able to guess that part of the ending back in like episode 2 or 3 before 4 and 5 were out, im sure others did too) so saving her one last time doesn't make sense, especially cause she'll likely still have to die and all max did is kill more people in the process. Add on it leaves Jefferson either dead or alone with David.
Too much bs goes on and assumptions with the chloe living ending, makes the most sense that it'll be vague and not talked about EVER again OR they will choose the arcadia bay which is still debatable since people will be pissed off about it
Divine Potato The devs said time and again in interviews that none of the endings are canon. That's one of the reasons LiS 2 will focus in diferent characters and locations. Follow your own advice and use google, friend.

As you say, he is in the Reynold's yard, so based on age it's their grandson. The name Ethan is written on a paper during the end credits, Chris didn't mention any previous friends named "Ethan" so it's clearly a name that have significane and I guess that it will be his future partner in crime.

It's just a theory, based on the overhwelming praise Max got for kissing Chloe it wouldn't surprize me if they add a similar option in this game. Also I assume he will be Chris' sidekick in the game, but it's up to the player to decide where they want to take it.
Just a heads up, the two kids in the end are brothers and grandchildren of the neighbour lady. She tells that if pick certain dialog choice in the conversation with her. I agree that one or possibly bothe of them are the protagonist(s) of LIS 2.
This might just be my stupid brain thinking stupid things but I swear Chris' facial features look very similar to Max's... Like I'm probably so wrong but they could be related in some way maybe? (I apologise if they talk about this in the video, I haven't watched the whole thing yet)
There is one more Easter Egg not many would pick up on is when you look at the Spi9der in Chris's Room he calls his pet Spider Baby and mentions her catching something in her web. Referencing to the movie Spider Baby from 1968!

There's actually a radio interview of a firefighter in Before the Storm that makes it clear that the fire is supernatural in some way.
I don't think his dad is a bad guy. I think he is broken and the whiskey made him mean because when he is sober(ish) he is loving and truly kind. You can tell Chris loves his dad and does fear him until he is drunk.
Lrbearclaw I'm sure fathers would relate. There's a lot of things people without children don't really get until they are in that role, it's all very jarring, life may be strange, but it can also be tough and incredibly cruel.

I could see the multiverse becoming a plot point. If you look at one of the pictures in the store there is a patch that says "hole to another universe". Might be a long shot but it makes sense. When Max uses her powers in LIS to go back in time she is essentially creating alternate universes.
