Arnel is a very disciplned person. Does NOt smoke, drink or even do drugs so that he can perform and sing. He is overworked because they have been touring since Feb. With only a few days of rest. He is a human being not a machine.
If you know somebody that can sing Journey's catalogue that will last at least for 5 years, then tell Journey's team. I agree with your idea, as you said it will make the camp a better place.
He's great, he sounds just like Perry on some songs. I think they should finish the tour, take a break, and recharge or refocus and get back out there next year.

I hear these “geniuses” discuss in-ear monitors of Arnel and how he is hearing which has no relevance to how his voice is coming to the audience when it is clear as day the audience hears a man with strained vocals. The clips on the net sure sound like he has weaker vocals most likely due to strain. Arnel needs help from Deen Castranovo, drummer, who’s voice sounds strong and he can sing with Arnel at times and maybe sing a song or two giving his voice a break. Greg Rolle could rejoin the band and sing some songs too but this current arrangement where Arnel sings everything is doomed. It can’t work as his voice is too strained.

He had one bad singing day, it happens. I saw Journey in Los Angeles about a month ago with Def Leppard. Arnel was in top form that day. He even was showing off his pipes a little.
I’m a huge Steve Perry fan and believe he does have the best voice, ever. With that said, Arnel is amazing. Arguably the hardest catalog to sing, let alone for 17 straight years. Arnel is pushing 60, no 60 year old men can maintain what he has. I love Arnel, but to also be honest, I think Jon and Neal are the bigger problem. Jonathon looked like he hated every moment of the Rio show. Maybe time to hang it up. In my perfect world I would love one last big show, maybe in San Fransisco. Arnel signing, but Perry takes the encore and blows the world away. What a way to wrap it up.

Also don’t forget arnel is one of Steve’s biggest fans and let’s face it Steve is the one who left the band he was not thrown out Arnel had very big shoes to full. I Love Arnel. Saw Journey in Seattle a few years ago with Arnel and it was great! worth every penny. Hope he hangs in there for a few more years but does take care of himself.
Watch the concert footage. Arnel wasn't only dealing with a tired and strained voice. Arnel was slurring his words. He appeared to be under the influence of something. What? I don't know.
I listened and it's obvious Arnel had bad night and lame excuses won't hold up and honest criticism is not a personal attack- even if it can mistakenly feel like that.
If it was sabotage then why were the other Journey singers not affected? They sounded great. It seems like someone would have noticed someone tinkering with the equipment. That is a very serious allegation to have made. If true is there proof? It is okay to have an off evening. We all do! He should have stepped away that night and gotten some rest and get some medical advice regarding his voice. At the least stop and figure out the equipment issue. Wishing all parties the best.

I saw Journey on August 25th at SOFI Stadium. Arnie and the rest of the band sounded great. It was a blast!
