The wind surfing and strapped surfing are so cool to see. I'm sort of surprised we don't see more accomplished surfers branch out into the wind related board game. What could be better when surf is blown out? Moar kiting pls...
I used to be a hater of all non surf stuff, I think most Ca surfers are hard headed with this surf or die mindset. Sad really once you wake up to all the other watersports being dope in their own way

You guys rip...I used to love windsurfing..Only surf now, but spent a summer on Maui in 1987...It was like walking into Windsurfing magazine...Stayed at Brett Lickle's house...We'd be just hanging out smoking weed, and people like Dave Kalama or Mark Angulo would come walking in and we'd be totally star struck...lol.

For Price there are literaly people giving away their windsurfing gear on the second-hand market. Good gear too, basically got 5 boards for like 300$. A small fanatic, two bics, a krit and a mistral compétition. As well at a bunch of sails. 4.5, 5.3, 5.6, 6, 7.2 and 7.8. also had a 7.4 but sadly it's dead now. I've had that gear for 3 years now and it is still working perfectly.
Also you Can buy a good little 10 feet sailboat for 1000$. That how I got mine. Second hand market, again.
And finally solo sailing Regatta is by far more extreme than windsurfing... I mean spending month Always awake steering an often huge sailboat at 25 to 40 knots on an ultime or and IMOCA or even just a mini, barely sleeping for days uppon days... That's more hardcore.

There's about a half dozen windsurfers at my local kite spot which is fairly choppy but isn't the open ocean with waves and I never really understood why anyone would want to do that over kiting.. slower speeds and crashing every other tack... When you add real waves into the mix with talented windsurfers it starts to make some sense though
Kiting isn't as hard as windsurfing so you're sense of satisfaction getting better at windsurfing is higher.
Furthermore windsurfing isn’t slower at all as soon as you’re gliding
