- A trip to the island of Gaou, a French island in the Var which depends on Six-Fours-les-Plages and is part of the Embiez archipelago.
The traditional fishing boats, called "Pointus", are the emblem of Mediterranean Provence.
The stern (rear) and bow (front) are symmetrically pointed.
The lagoon, where the water is calm like a lake and shallow, is a breeding ground for species, a nursery for fish and it is home to a marine flora of Posidonia.
This natural environment is doubly protected by the Natura 2000 zone and the Conservatoire du Littoral. This area is therefore prohibited for motorized navigation, anchoring, trampling and the practice of windsurfing, these activities could harm the ecosystem of the place.
The island of Gaou is accessible to all by a footbridge.
On days of mistral, northwest wind, when the sea is unleashed on the rocky coasts, the peninsula and its islands are reminiscent of the Brittany coast.
There is an exceptional fauna and flora with the famous anemomorphosed pines.
These trees with particular shapes, which were shaped by the "Mistral".
Overlooking the sea, "the Venus out of the waves" was inaugurated in 1961, it was created by the sculptor Robert Forrer who decided to sculpt his daughter Manina.
It was built on an old blockhouse.
Legend has it that it is the symbol of the osmosis between land and sea, a Venus emerging from the sea, her gaze turned towards the Brusc.

Beaucoup de souvenirs...Le Brusc était un caillou un peu sous-estimé (par rapport à Sanary ou Bandol), c'est devenu un spot balnéaire et une marina au top !! Il y a même un festival très côté : Les Voix du Gaou. Espérons que le littoral n'en sera pas trop abîmé... Vœu pieux😮
Oui comme vous dites, en espérant que ça reste intact longtemps. Pour info, les voix du Gaou n'existe plus depuis un bon moment. 😔
i y a longtemps on campaient sur l ile du Gaou y avait le bac a la place de la passerelle et les pointus des pêcheurs a coté le matin on se réveillait avec l odeur de la pinède et le chant des cigales
