    When I first learned this form I was surprised at how little one swings the saber versus how much time is spent pushing and shoving with it. Your brief explanation is excellent, and the reality was that in combat one is not always blessed with the perfect distance. These saber techniques are also interesting when compared to European “half-swording “ we see in the classic manuals from Italy and elsewhere. Two different ways to solve the same problem. Thanks!

      Ciao David. It is precisely a characteristic of this particular Taolu of Yang style Taiji, the Chen style sabre, although much more complex, is more "normal". 🙏🏽

    I noticed you holding your arm outside the blade when handle is forward. Why are you protecting the blade with your arm? The arm is vulnerable to a complete seveence.
