If I was in this situation. My comment about humans inevitable extinction would probably be something like this. From the future conquerors of the stars. And rulers of the earth. To basically becoming the next Neanderthals. I wonder what scientists will call the next stage of the mutated humanity. Maybe homo mutanus? If humans were to remain in any sense. It would be at most be Maybe a small Bank of human DNA? And some residual genes that are regarded as useless.
Why only one "next stage"? Since we are reaching for the stars, we might as well have one subspecies for every planet we colonize. If there are no aliens, we might as well become said aliens for each other.
