  • After doing the first SEPTA: Route By Route video in 2009 (featured in a later upload after being able to convert older VHS footage), it is time to do it again. Seven years later, there is new equipment, some routes have been eliminated, a few were created, and others have changed. So, it's the 2016 edition of SEPTA: Route By Route!
This video depicts a scene of all regular service SEPTA transit and rail routes, featuring all five modes: bus (all models), streetcar (all models of equipment), trackless trolley, rapid transit, and commuter rail (all three types of equipment).
Each line is presented as follows (with destination clearly shown):
    - In numerical order for the numbered routes
    - In alphabetical order for the letter routes (with the rapid transit and high-speed lines in their appropriate place within)
    - In alphabetical by line name order for the Regional Rail lines, showing all trains in the outbound direction**.
**One train had no destination signs displayed, and one other train was only properly signed in the front, with nothing on the sides, and the sign for the opposite end of the line on the rear
All scenes were shot all over the city of Philadelphia and various suburbs in the four surrounding counties between May 9th and June 6th, 2016.

And now we’re in the 2023 with the D40’s (2000’-2004) and De40’s (2002-2004) gone. But at least we got the De40lfr’s, De41’s and D40’s (2005’s) left in service.

It was... I did a few 12 to 15-hour days driving all over the region to get them shot in order like that. I did have a few shorter video sessions, working around my work hours, and took a 5-day delay after Route 90 because I had to wait for a Saturday to get the 91 (a Saturday-only service).
I also wanted to do different locations than I did in my 2009 version of the video. Managed to achieve that goal too.

Great job! I have finally watched this all the way through. I plan to do some SEPTA joy riding in the next few months, and your video has given me some ideas. Does the route 113 bus actually go into Delaware? I know that the 127 goes into New Jersey, although you showed it going the other way. My favorite scene in this video is the 15. I love PCCs But I will have to wait until the fall to ride them because of bus substitution this summer. I did a joy riding project in 1989 and rode the 91 on Saturday, April 1. Are 312, 316, B, M, and N actual behind-the-scenes designations, or did you decide to use them? If there had been no actual L bus route, you could have used it instead of M for "the el".

    • @trainman1971
      @trainman1971  7 лет назад

Thanks :) Yep, the 113 trips to Tri-State Mall cross into Delaware a few blocks from the final turn onto Naamans Road to head into Tri-State.
Yes to 312 and 316.. those are the route designations for the Cornwells parking lot shuttle and the LUCY internally. A few of the Eldorado buses actually had signs programmed to display the respective route numbers, but I was never lucky enough to get them on video or in photo. B, M, and N, I just used myself to clarify the reasoning of how I positioned the Broad St, Market-Frankford, and Norristown High-Speed lines within the alphabet. :)
I took a 3-week delay in getting the video done after Route 90, because it took me that long to have a Saturday off to get the 91 shot.

I've forgotten what train number that was.
And now, with all but 3 coaches completed overhaul, that set will likely be back to 6 cars again once regular schedules resume after enough of the Silverliner V's are back in operation.

    • @trainman1971

It's simple, really. Once you arrive in Philly, you can go to the ticket office at Jefferson Station (right across from the Greyhound terminal where the 317 terminates) and buy an Independence Pass. It's $12, and good all day for unlimited rides on the entire system except for Regional Rail trains arriving downtown before 9:30am weekdays. Travel to Trenton station adds a $5 step-up charge.
