- The sister ship of ULYSSES the new Explorer Yacht Project Name U116 (116m long) arrived Bremerhaven on 05 December 2016 evening from KLEVEN shipyard Norway. Stahlbau Nord will equip the Yacht completely in the next months like predecessor Ulysses.

That's quite something. Thanks for sharing. I think that more and more owners are looking to build yachts at industrial shipyards rather than traditional yacht builders. To me it makes a lot of sense.

Beyond a certain size (say 100 meters) I agree it makes more sense. But then, Ulysses looks so much more like a working boat than a pleasure boat.
I quite like the Ulysses shape and design. Classy interior but overall its practical, and have you see the amount of toys it can take!!! Who needs a support Vessel when this can handle it all?
Considering the guy who owns this started out driving a tow truck, for a small auto body shop in New Zealand, he has not done too badly really!
Now that is what a ship should look like.

Andromeda or Ulysses he was told by the shipyard that built it that he had to build 2 so he had one built used it until the second one was built( which is 16ft longer ). So when he got the second one he sold the first pretty cool

Hi, ive been wondering about this U116 and U107....i just cant get my head around. So the owner builds U107 and then makes another one slightly bigger and then selling the smaller one. can you maybe provide me with explanations?

Is there no way for a shipbuilder to make the seams in the steel hull panels invisible? I think that would have an amazing visual effect on this beautiful boat.

I will drive this weekend to U116 again, maybe she is fully covered for the outfitting work protected against wind, rain and cold weather. And my new drone is on the way...arrival hopefully next week

Why not build a real ship? Steel and aluminum is only way to go. Fibreglass is great for bathtubs, and coating steel and aluminum. The cost of the hull is 20% of the total amount of any vessel.
I think the hull is steel and the upper decks aluminium as usual.
@@DrDuu ---- Absolutely it is real ship, the only way. And since 80% of cost of any vessel is in engineering and technology, financially choose the best materials for the hull.
