Just started learning how to play drums and was very confused as I don't have a teacher yet but with this video not even sure I need a teacher tnx for the good work and keep it up
Great video, as usual. If I had this information when I actually had a (terrible) drum set, back in my late teens, it would have been a huge advantage, I'm sure of it.
This was phenomenal. I recently got a drum pad for some live looping, and I’m teaching myself drum rudiments, and this was SUPER helpful! Thank you so much!
As a fellow teacher, it's really refreshing (and comforting!) to see you follow the exact same structure of groove learning as I teach, almost note for note! Well explained and thanks for your input.
Don’t forget about heel down as you suggest right at the start as it will be needed later on in the journey as a drummer if you want to play very subtle bass drum strikes such as feathering, not for beginners but keep it in mind, great video apart from the initial dismissal of heel down technique, drummers need both if they want to be versatile.
Really enjoyed the video but as someone who can't read music, could somebody explain why in the notation of the fills section, the first hits on the snare are shown between the lines but after hitting the tom and going back to the snare, those notes are on the line. Thanks.
Michi explained it in the video, but you might've missed it. He plays it: snare, high tom, snare, floor tom. But most beginner drum sets have a second racktom. For those he advices to play it: snare, high tom, low tom, floor tom. And that is how it's notated.

Same here.. I always try to make the lessons I wish I had growing up.

Thank you. As you said it is really comforting to hear other teachers do the same as I do.

Of course you are absolutely right. I didn’t want to say that you don’t need it at all. Thanks for the clarification!
Thanks for sharing your experience. You are my favorit for learning step by step on drums 🎼🎶🎵
🤜🤛
That is so great to hear. Thanks a lot my friend!
6:21 flawless voiceover there.
Haha.. don’t tell anybody.

@@Booskop. Yes I didn't make the connection. Thank you for the reply. Makes it all clear.
Hey Michi, awesome lesson for brand new beginning drummers. What model of Promark stick are you using?
Funny that you ask me. I have used 5a forward for quite a while. But in this lesson I used 5b just to try something different.
@@DailyDrumLesson Cool, I'm a big fan of the Promark 5A and 5B rebound in the Firegrain. I really like them a lot.
Yeah, Pro Mark sticks are fantastic.
