I have to admit this is a good looking bike. TVS doesn't exist in the U.S. but we finally got RE here. Hopefully more India brands will arrive. The Chinese have.
Our dear Sarge can get his knee down on anything with two wheels. Some say, as a kid, he learnt to drag his knee on his bicycle before he learnt to walk... And that he goes through his knee sliders faster than a woodpecker goes through plywood. All we know is he's called the Sarge..!!
Wait, how does having 5 gears instead of 6 give you better acceleration? If it had 6, the gearing would (realistically) be closer together, meaning the drop in revs would be smaller when going through the gears, hence keeping it closer to peak power band. So, more gears should mean better acceleration AND better top speed. The worst case would be adding another, taller gear, while keeping the other 5 to be the same ratio, which would only give it a bit more top speed but no less acceleration in the first 5 gears. The only issue would be the need to constantly shift gears (like on a duke 200) and added complexity. For example, even the old Honda RC166 had 7 gears, for the specific purpose of getting the maximum out of the engine for both top-end and acceleration through the gears..
yes right even when u use just up to 5 th gear in a 6 gear bike , you can accelerate it fast. 6 th gear helps in relaxed cruising & better mileage with higher top speed
what a bike! I wud rate this as the best 200cc bike! a little low on power and top speed but the fun it gives you is amazing! so light and agile! easy to change direction! love how the clutch is on this bike! what a machine! I currently own 200ns..but loved this bike to the core
The facelift was really bad on the 160 because of its colour and garphics scheme. But the on 180, it looks far better than the older 180. More agressive (The tank cowls and the tail), more modern and those "eyes". Anyway it's a subjective matter but calling it a 'debacle' is just plain wrong. You know what's debacle? The new Karizmas. So much that the company stopped its production in less than a year.
yes I also thought the same,, y did he said that even after the facelift model was released the sales were and are going strong now also,, that is why they are just introducing new colours. and about karizma that was really a bad upgrade...
Yay! Yay! Yay! TVS is back with a bang after a long time.. A new sub-1L pocket rocket is now available in the market.. That raw mad-acceleration, flickability & meatier exhaust note provided by RTR series used to be the best in its segment and this new 200RTR still follows that legacy.. Only those who had owned an Apache can relate to this feel.. Sagar and PD folks, we are waiting for a complete review on our desi pocket rocket..
TVS trying to hit home while the NS 200 is out the game eh! What I find interesting is that TVS has positioned this at the entry level of the 200 cc segment. TVS has a racing heritage, so they could have just as easily built a bike with more performance, better styling and more equipment to take the competition to the more premium offerings in this segment. So is their strategy to provide an easier stepping stone to the 180 RTR customers, or to keep a sizable price gap with the upcoming TVS version of the G310?
Good point there, we suspect both. This will give a taste of a 'fun' while being easy on the pocket and might help price the more equipped sibling attractively
+Rituraj Dutta i agree with you on the pricing strategy of tvs, they would need to maintain a gap between their premium offering and home bred baby, having seen 20+bhp rtrs on the track by tvs, power wasnt the only thing they were after , this is a really good strategy as many different type of riders can purchase this bike for a variety of reasons , like a jack of all .
+PowerDrift No arguments there. Thing is Bajaj is the only Indian bike manufacturer to concentrate on the design and performance aspects more. I really want Hero and TVS to step up their game and offer world class products to the Indian consumer.
+ribu samuel I understand. Majority of us want a versatile machine since we can afford only one. And that has to do all the duties like highway touring, city traffic slicing and carrying both rider and passenger in comfort. And this product promises to do all that, and that too for a reasonable cost. So kudos to TVS for that.
exactly, this is a product that can be fuel efficent and fast and cheap and comfortable and so on, like u said. tvs has done their strategizing well by using minimalist approach to keep cost down, cater to a wide audience while not being dull doing so . really impressive is the pricing on this one. as a manufacturer that learns from mistakes and improves upon its products, kudos tvs .
I've been riding my RTR180ABS since 2011 and I must say, this iteration of the bike seems to do a lot of justice to all the previous version's shortcomings. Looking forward to a full ride review. The matte yellow color, in my opinion, looks the most insane of the lot.
+Bhargav Gor That's a good thing. Competition needs to step up, rather than slapping new stickers on old bikes. And not to mention the cost cutting they do. Have you seen the mirrors on the FZ?
**REPOST [Two weeks since the last Post]** I know u guys are damn busy and have a lot in your plate, but please do us all a favour and try to give the comprehensive review. As they say in Bollywood- Intehaan ho gayi, Intezaar ki.!!!!! ;) Hope that we'll get the review asap. Cheers.!!!! **Comprehensive review awaited.!!!!!** Hoping that it will throw some light on the following: - Daily commuting - FI or Carburetor - Fuel Economy - Comparison with the competition. ( i.e. Pulsar 200 [ns /as] family ) Hope to get a reply as well as the much awaited review soon.!!!!! Cheers.!!!!
THANK YOU POWER DRIFT FOR REVIEWING THIS BIKES ITS MEAN A LOT TO US INDIAN MIDDLE CLASS. WHO CANT AFFORD IMPORTED BIKES. BUT DEPENDED ON THIS TYPE OF INDIAN BIKES WHICH GIVES US THE HOPE THAT WE CHOULD ALSO ENGOY THE RIDING WITH OUT SPENDING A LOT OF BUCK
If this bike delivers what the customers are expecting this will be a big threat to the RS 200 and ktm duke 200, as they both are performing great in the segment of 200 cc bikes.
***** bro Indian market is price sensitive market. That's the reason why bajaj and maruti Suzuki are so successful in the industry. And I think this apache will shake some things up in the market of 200 cc.
+Bhargav Gor exactly your point !! The indian market is a price sensitive one and RS and Duke both are doing justice to their price tags with the features and performance they dish out to the customers .. the rtr 200 seems to be targeted at people with the 1 lac price benchmark in their planning .. and in that view , I feel that both the duke and RS are safe enough ...
+PowerDrift In Indonesia and some other countries. Yes. You guys have any news on the CS brand of pulsar. Read somewhere that bajaj will launch the CS 200 by the last quarter of this year ??
Hey sagar im big fan of you.. and want to join PD army & im desperitly waiting for the launch Of apache 200 and i definitly need your help to suggest me wheather i should buy a carb or EFI version should i go for tvs tyres or the peerli tyres & should i go for the ABS vesrion?? Bcoz safety and good quality is my priority.. Waiting for ur rply
Disappointed with the sales of RTR. Dealers(in kerala) just have no idea when the Apache will hit the stores. Shoddy response,if any to enquirers as well. TVS needs to learn a thing or two about customer service from Suzuki, who builds a fantastic relationship with gixxer owners.
+Sarath nair.s I completely agree; for instance I booked the bike long back and still not being given an answer as to when I will receive mine being the first Customer.
I get the feeling that TVS can probably manufacture a bike that can, at that time, or later, be used as a cafe racer. My first bike, the rtr 160 he, is pretty spent but still never fails to give me that "motorcycle" feel as opposed to my current ride, a drift-crazy Duke. The wholesome power delivery at all gears and the inherently reliable braking all make up for whatever vibes that remain after one gets used to them. Let's see how this 200 fares, and let's see what doors it opens for the BMW-TVS promise that we're still waiting for to amaze us with a step-up.
+Chandrasekar Venkataramanan That is a first hand feedback & we love it when we read such stuff! Also, the upcoming Auto Expo will answer a lot of your questions!
Finally an rtr review........................it looks like a good upgrade to the rtr 180 and at a very tempting price range...........this is something that bajaj is been doing in the past with the p220 by keeping performance at a very accessible price point..........a bit disappointed that they lost on to the braking dept. for the bike, which was always one of the strong points to buy an rtr in the first place (my reason to buy an rtr at least)........ perilli sports demon is a good add on as the regular tyres tvs used to provide had horrible wet grip and pathetic stopping grip...n finally a 4 valve engine....i always keep telling that this engine has a lot of potential.......btw i noticed that the rake may b longer than the previous generation rtr, that adding to its weight would mean the rtr may have lost on flick-ability......i hope i m wrong though................good first impression though covered all the main points to look out for .........thanks srgt. sargar and powerdrift.....love u guys
That exhaust note alone should garner enough attention for it - for a single cylinder bike of course! Waiting for the thorough review and the top music too - DnB ftw!!!
Great work ! Now TVS needs to make a kickass TV advertisement ! They better market the product aggressively before other brands launch updated versions by the end of the year!
+PowerDrift just checked the upcoming launches! days of comprising are gone! there will be a bike for evryone. whatvr ur need is, there is a motorcycle in market for you! And obviously more work for you guys ;)
+PowerDrift just checked the upcoming launches! days of comprising are gone! there will be a bike for evryone. whatvr ur need is, there is a motorcycle in market for you! And obviously more work for you guys ;)
Thanx to power drift and Dino’s vault got this beauty in MATTE RED. Exhaust note, comfort, handling man awesome budget oriented sports bike with city characteristics.
hey PD guys... please add reasons not to buy section also..we'd love to hear Sagar criticizing any bike..he literally convinces ppl on everything..I'm still confused on KTM 200 or 200 NS..Cozz they left me hanging in that elaborated video even..clever yeah..
As concerned to the intro of the rtr... it's the best for me... but I'd like a bit of the testing of the rtr on road. .. would also like to hear it's sound and all the new new features precisely. All an all I'll give just 3/5 to urge revi5
the bike looks good and sounds good as well, as a current RTR Fi owner i am a bit disappointed by ur feedback on the fi version coz it's so much better than the RTR160 carb version so i thought it should be even better on the 200 especially since it's a closed loop system. Well only one way to find out a comprehensive review. Cheers!!
I prefer to have bigger profile tyres something like a 110/70 at front and a 150/60 at the rear. Also why has TVS limited the power band to such low numbers? They could definitely have done better. Having said that the bike does look good and with so many options you might just be spoiled for choice. Can't wait for your comprehensive review of the bike and at the same time still waiting on your review of the Benelli TNT 25. Really want to know your views on the product. Cheers!!!
That's a pretty broad spectrum (taking into account the price points at hand) that TVS seems to targeting. It looks like a champ compared to the old one whose looks were pretty subjective. Looks like the sales yamaha, suzuki and maybe even ktm will be affected not to forget our other homegrown brand, hamara Bajaj! I would like it you guys could collect a bit of data on long term TCO (total cost of ownership) and also, how their bikes are currently. If that factor is covered, picking a bike with peace of mind and a satisfied heart is much easier..then again this is much easier said than done. Sagar seems to spare no bike when it comes to testing lol, the last time i saw flogging of this magnitude was when our class didn't do homework back when i was in school!
+MONSIEUR MOTO now the standing goes this way BENELLI tnt ,KTM duke TVS apache 200v tvs achieved something remarkable.this will be the begining of death for fz,gixxer, pulsar, and many others.
tvs has done a great job,the looks of the bike is awesome except the exhaust. M too much fascinated with this bike. I was thinking of buying RS 200,but now m confused as the options tvs is giving on this bike like pirelli tyres, abs and fi with an attractive price tag. Please do a comparo of rtr 200 carborater version with pulsar 200ns. And rtr 200 fi vs rs 200.i dont think rtr will beat rs or ns,as the power on paper is more than rtr. Help me with this.
First of all- Your reviews are awesome!! I have fallen in love with this bike. Secondly I had a stupid question about the aesthetics..PLZ DO ANSWER..(i had seen the fuel tank cap in red like this video...but when i saw other reviews it the cap was normal silver...whats with it...is it in some specific variant?...that red cap really adds some extra charm)
***Comprehensive review awaited.!!!!!*** Hoping that it will throw some light on the following: - Daily commuting - FI or Carburetor - Fuel Economy - Comparison with the competition. ( i.e. Pulsar 200 [ns /as] family ) Hope to get a reply as well as the much awaited review soon.!!!!! Cheers.!!!!
Eagerly waiting for the same, as your reviews play a very important role in the selection of a new vehicle. Thanks for the reply and Keep up the good work.!!!! Cheers.!!!!
Hey! Your reviews are too good! Can you help me out with something? I want to buy this bike, the apache rtr200 but tvs has recently launched a new version, the race edition which has a slipper clutch. But the issue is that this version is not available with abs as it is not yet under production. So should I go with the previous version which has abs and ditch the slipper clutch? I mainly want this bike for commuting. Please help me out with this one!
Daayyum! TVS blew everyone's mind with the overall package with that killer pricetag! May sound dull on paper but trust me when i say that it will have very less power loss and will make up for it on the onroad power delivery. Hope to buy one soon!
+PowerDrift As sagar said on Younow that u have completed shooting the footage (THAT WAS A MONTH BEFORE) ..... After a month u r STILL EDITING it..... Hats off power drift....!!! Way to go guys =(
+PowerDrift I think it's awesome and value for money, packed with every goodies one ask for in one bike only. Its almost perfect but what can we do nothing is perfect ;)
+PowerDrift It would have been phenomenal if it had140 section rear tire & underbelly exhaust. I don't understand despite being naked version & weighing less than the RS how come it produces same power ratio?I'm just eagerly waiting for your street review with exact mileage ;)
Dood's please do a full review for the machine!.. been waiting for your own way of reviewing this beast for months.. cheers! Please don't disappoint us!!
With all respect to proud racing heritage of RTR series, we expect a phenomenal video of Sagar testing this beast on Lavasa.. We r counting on u Sagar..:)
You never mentioned about the height of the rtr is it still the same ... Morever it looks good but still draken was much dark concept this is simply a smaller version of it ... Wish to see a comprehensive review on it ... Please let us know about the height is it stil smaller as compare to the adventurer tourer or pulsar or a ktm for comparison ... I so want to understand the frame with mono it doesn't looks that great
Hey, PDArmy! Apache Rtr 200 4v 2017 is on its way, with its carb variant becoming BS IV compliant and featuring AHO. Please feature that too in one of your videos! :) Waiting for it to hit the market!
Is the bike as light and maneuverable as the FZ or the gixxer for city urban conditions? Which tyres would you recommend for such use, TVS or pirelli? Also, how spacious is the bike for two, and driving ergonomics for a 6 footer? How much is the difference in low-end power between carb and FI version? Please answer all. Thanks in advance. :)
Really impressed with styling and the new upgraded refined engine.TVS has really taken the RTR to next level, mind blownhats off to the pd teamlooking forward to the full review :)
I have to admit this is a good looking bike. TVS doesn't exist in the U.S. but we finally got RE here. Hopefully more India brands will arrive. The Chinese have.
Why people are hating the exhaust?
I seriously loved it...
May sound weird but it's actually what I always wanted *-*
Damn I want that!

Doc Nikhil cough cough Indian Stig cough.
Doc Nikhil I,
I always come back to your comment Doc. Such an amazing comment.
Love the fact that indian manufacturers are moving on from just great styling to better overall performance
Wait, how does having 5 gears instead of 6 give you better acceleration? yes right even when u use just up to 5 th gear in a 6 gear bike , you can accelerate it fast. 6 th gear helps in relaxed cruising & better mileage with higher top speed

Yay! Yay!
+Yugendran N 6 years & we are not surprised at it being a good bike! Kudos to putting in exponential amount of work from their racing heritage!
TVS trying to hit home while the NS 200 is out the game eh!
What I find interesting is that TVS has positioned this at the entry level of the 200 cc segment. TVS has a racing heritage, so they could have just as easily built a bike with more performance, better styling and more equipment to take the competition to the more premium offerings in this segment.

can't comment much now..but wait for full review..👍👍
+Mukesh Solanki And we at PD cannot wait to get our hands on it!
+PowerDrift team, Honda hornet if you guys get time!!
can't wait for the comprehensive review ✌
Love how they give us options in terms of which parts we want
+adityabeatz Customization. We love it too. :)
Yeah more companies should adopt that style...even you KTM :)
As concerned to the intro of the rtr... it's the best for me... but I'd like a bit of the testing of the rtr on road. .. would also like to hear it's sound and all the new new features precisely. All an all I'll give just 3/5 to urge revi5
I have been waiting for ur review since its launch....good bike... good job PD😀☺
the bike looks good and sounds good as well, as a current RTR Fi owner i am a bit disappointed by ur feedback on the fi version coz it's so much better than the RTR160 carb version so i thought it should be even better on the 200 especially since it's a closed loop system. Well only one way to find out a comprehensive review. Cheers!!
+Sagar Sheldekar they gonna offer an inverted front end option with that original swing arm?
***** look at what I am building.. 1971 "Grom killer".. 100lbs, 17hp possibly supercharged to 25hp
i liked the looks and the features and it love the exhaust note
I prefer to have bigger profile tyres something like a 110/70 at front and a 150/60 at the rear. Also why has TVS limited the power band to such low numbers? They could definitely have done better.
Having said that the bike does look good and with so many options you might just be spoiled for choice. Can't wait for your comprehensive review of the bike and at the same time still waiting on your review of the Benelli TNT 25. Really want to know your views on the product. Cheers!!!
Still waiting for that comprehensive review from Powerdrift!
can u pls tell me which model is good carburettor or fuel injection.
Sagar seems to spare no bike when it comes to testing lol, the last time i saw flogging of this magnitude was when our class didn't do homework back when i was in school!
even tvs is our home grown brand
+MONSIEUR MOTO now the standing goes this way BENELLI tnt ,KTM duke TVS apache 200v tvs achieved something remarkable.this will be the begining of death for fz,gixxer, pulsar, and many others.
+Harsh s wait till the NS comes back!!!
Impressed with new RTR!! Finall she gets Monoshock but expecting More wider rear tyre
+Abhishek Deshmukh But Pirelli's #NuffSaid
+PowerDrift yeah Pirelli is good choice , though 140 rear section tyre like in fz or in CB Hornet would have make differnce
tvs has done a great job,the looks of the bike is awesome except the exhaust.
Secondly I had a stupid question about the aesthetics..PLZ DO ANSWER..(i had seen the fuel tank cap in red like this video...but when i saw other reviews it the cap was normal silver...whats with it...is it in some specific variant?...that red cap really adds some extra charm)
yaa bud youre right its for efi version only..just to differentiate
***Comprehensive review awaited.!!!!!***
Hoping that it will throw some light on the following:
- Daily commuting
- FI or Carburetor
- Fuel Economy
- Comparison with the competition. ( i.e. Pulsar 200 [ns /as] family )
Hope to get a reply as well as the much awaited review soon.!!!!!
Cheers.!!!!
+ashwin gupta Those are neat points comrade. The full review shall be taken care of soon.
Drum and bass 👌🏽
Thumbs up for ur awesome review....
+Ash Gopu Two thumbs up for that awesome comment! Hope you have shared it ahead :)
Sure i will
Daayyum! TVS blew everyone's mind with the overall package with that killer pricetag! May sound dull on paper but trust me when i say that it will have very less power loss and will make up for it on the onroad power delivery. Hope to buy one soon!
+Abhinav Kumar Make sure you take a spin on the bike & experience what this RTR has to offer!
can't wait for an NS 200 vs RTR 200 from you guys
tvs has done it! damn ABS Pirelli Fi what more you can ask for.

+Aakarshanification You're welcome aye! What do you think of the TVS RTR 200 4V!
+PowerDrift the video came 24hrs later then it should be i think...but PowerDrift sign is enough to show how awesome is this one!!! :)
+Vishal Singh Apologies for the delay but we really hope you got an in-depth look on what the new RTR has to offer!
Though i am a cruiser guy but i really like your video's.
+Ashutosh Vikey We have something for your liking too!

+Vinil Syam We would happily get it done!
I know a little better what Apaches are capable of .but this one takes the TVS ahead of competition for sure.
How is the sitting position? More like older rtr's or comparatively more aggressive?
Rtr 200 the best looking so far, Great work Tvs
+Rubin Shrestha Amen!
Sagar your reviews are Awesome!!!
+Ravi Kiran Thank you Ravi :)
powerdrift Ns 200 or 200 4v is better to buy give me some idea..
good job bro
Is the bike as light and maneuverable as the FZ or the gixxer for city urban conditions? Which tyres would you recommend for such use, TVS or pirelli?
Also, how spacious is the bike for two, and driving ergonomics for a 6 footer?
How much is the difference in low-end power between carb and FI version?
Please answer all. Thanks in advance. :)
bro, apache is known for its superb handling.....so doubts in terms of city maneuverability.
+Sanket Jain i test rided the bike its faaaaaaaaaaaaar ahead of fz,gixxer.pulsar all competitors should now kneel down.
Great looking bike even greater is the review. Good to see Sagar in his leaner avataar.
