Did I fool any Jordan Fringe fans? 😘
Yep
@@itsjayden8002 I hope you don't hate me for it. 😢
@@BradleySmithRUclips Still a good video
Yeah I thought it was his 😂
@@do-not-subscribe Please stick around anyway! I got fun videos, too
The Postman is one the few Christmas villains who has an actual reason for hating Christmas. Nobody likes being overworked during the holiday season.
And the government doesn’t give bonuses
It’s later revealed that the postman also had a childhood driven hatred for Chrismas. Later in the show (im gonna call it a show) when he goes through santa’s toy bag, he pulls ous a model train set and says ”Ah, here we go. The train set that should’ve been mine when I was a kid. That was the year santa put me on the naughty list. He didn’t cut me any slack so I’m not cutting him any slack. OL’ FAT BOYS FINISHED ‘HO HO HO’”.
@@DSdemon767 I want to know what he did that year. Did the postman sleigh his parents or something? What did he do to piss off Santa?! 😭
Postman is right up there with Thanos on my list of "Villains that I AGREE with".
He and Grinch would get along perfectly
In the directors commentary of the film, Matt Groening mentioned he wanted a segment involving Santa and Olive celebrating a successful Christmas at Joe's Crab Shack before fading to credits, but due to an ongoing promotion already going on with the PJ'S Christmas special in store and legal ties, it had to get scrapped last minute. Luckily this idea got revised as a small cameo in the Futurama Christmas special the year following.
How'd I forget to mention this!? 🦀
The fact it’s specifically Joe’s Crab Shack makes me laugh for some reason.
@@crimsondynamo615 he’s a maniac for the Shack
@@BradleySmithRUclips Waiting for that shack compilation / review / documentary episode
Im so glad someone is shining light on this movie. I felt like I was the only one who remembered it. Also, Drew named one of her daughters Olive.
Oh WOW!! I wish I had mentioned that, but what a cool fact.
omg that's such an adorable fact
I still can’t believe that a Christmas special made by Simpsons creator Mat Groening and Jimmy Neutron creator John A Davis became a part of my childhood
A very strange combo, but one that worked surprisingly well.
Trivia: An olive doll was used in a Chilean show called "31 minutos" as a character called "Joe pino"", it was a very popular show around 2003, it was a sesame street like show but the dolls were the crew of a news show with a lot of sass. Joe pino was a special case since he was very neutral to every topic and encouraged talking about ideas and understanding each other rather than letting ideologies separate people.
I'm not 100% sure what Drew Barrymore's first role was, but the youngest I have seen her was Firestarter. That movie is a horror & def will make you cry. So be prepared. My dad once told me the Barrymore family date back to the silent era of films. How wonderful, to be a part of such a legacy.
I remember seeing this as a kid on Cartoon Network even had a one time special on NBC, but that was many years ago. It don't show it anymore which is a shame it deserves to be a classic.
This one was always my favorite Christmas special. Olive is still as adorable as I remember. Thank you for the massive wave of nostalgia! I remember this playing on Cartoon Network
No problem! Thank you for watching my video. :) Olive was a truly special special. And I caught it on Cartoon Network, too!
Also my favorite joke is how the bus driver Richard Stan thinking that the pledge of allegiance was about him lmao
It's not?
I don't get it
@@sussybaka119 Richard Stans is supposed to sound like “which it stands” from the pledge of allegiance
@@sussybaka119 “for which it stands”
The author also made a sequel to the original book focusing on Valentine’s Day. If only they made a sequel to the special based on that book. I always loved how the special cleverly mixed edgy humor and innocent undertones.
Gosh, this is my favorite from my childhood. Everytime i sing the "All of" part i always think of olive
Olive’s owner is named Tim. Olive says “ever since he was tiny, Tim has loved Christmas” TINY TIM!!
Olive The Other Reindeer, The Tangerine Bear and Annabelle’s Wish were the top three Christmas movies I religiously watch every year growing up. Yes they’re small compared to stuff like It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf and Home Alone but these were my childhood.
Schnitzel says hes Blitzen’s cousin. He also says he’s “flightless, unfortunately” implying that flightless reindeer might be a genetic defect.
"I'm a victim of oppressive corporate bureaucracy" -Martini, is my new life moto
Watching this has been a yearly Christmas tradition for my family for a long time. I’m so glad someone is showcasing it like this!
every time i learn a new fact about olive the other reindeer, I discover a new way this story is so very connected to my childhood lol
I watched the premiere of it - I think it was on Fox, but I'm not sure. One thing I AM sure of, though, is that there was a character in it named Round John Virgin, who seems not to be remembered by anyone else.
It doesnt feel like christmas unless i watch this special. Especially hearing the postman's villain song.
Its a great song
You know, I was watching Jordan Fringe's holiday videos and I think the algorithm picks up on it, because you mentioned him it recommended your video. I liked this though, I really had no idea Groening made this. The 3D animation explains how they managed to capture such a unique art style. This was always one of my favorite holiday movies simply because it's so unique and different compared to all the other movies being sappy or focusing only on Santa and Rudolph.
Olive has to be the most adorable cartoon character in all of fiction
That part where she growled when she smelled the mail made my heart melt!
One of the best movies there is, and way too underrated
I'd remembered watching this a lot from Cartoon Network
Yep, me too!
In 2013 before a Christmas play at my Catholic k-8 school. Me and my classmates watched this movie in a dark room, huddled up until it was our turn to go on stage. Once it was our turn, I was upset because we didn't finish the movie. Sometimes that memory feels like a fever dream, but today I'm reminded it's not.
Man it's always a treat when you upload, these videos are so well researched and have so much interesting shit crammed into every inch of them.
Aww, thank you! I do try. 🙏
I remember seeing it near Futurama. I know this isn't evidence but I probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I was surprised to Matt Groening (?) in the credits and hear Michael Stipe when I saw it. I haven't seen it since but I remember really liking it.
Weird how the guy behind both Simpsons and Futurama created this.
The artstyle looks very different from his usual style. (Then again, I actually love this "flat" style more).
Once again, you've managed to cover something I felt like I was the only one who remembered, because I've never heard anyone else talk about it either in real life or online. (I found your channel through the Mission Hill video.) I definitely watched it on FOX the first year it aired, when I was . . . 19, I guess? Was it really that long ago? Christ. Yeah, I remember it being really cute and wholesome, and I've always been disappointed it didn't become a holiday classic.
I remember when I first saw this in elementary school and rented it multiple times on VHS at the library ever since
I especially loved the behind the scenes special at the end
I hope kids in schools can still rent it nowadays. And I had never seen the BTS before I made this video, so that was a delight to discover.
I remember in kindergarten watching this movie on a Friday and we were half way through it and had to finish it the following Monday and was sad I had to wait. I told my mom about my class watching the movie and how we were half way through it and she said she thought we had it on vhs and we did and I remember putting it into our vhs player so quick and finishing it that day. Loved it as a kid
Omg, i forgot that this was actually a book. You really brought back a part of childhood that got hidden under every other meaningless thing i know.
All I'll say is that like it or hate it. "Olive the Other Reindeer" will always be one of my all time favorite holiday specials!!!
Remember it how the hell can you forget it was played loop every Christmas for 5 years.
Does she apologize to Rudolph for laughing and calling him names?
I just discovered that song from making an Insta post. Wtf was that song?
This is undoubtedly my favorite Christmas special, I always loved it ever since I saw it on CN back in the 2000s. Glad other people appreciate this as much as I do, great vid!
The whole movie is on RUclips I just watched it the other day.
Martini is one of my favorite characters I love how he used every thing he had in his suitcase.
I’m conflicted on liking it though just considering Matt Groening was on a specific flight log.
OMG I didn't remember he was on Eeep Steeen's island... ruh roh
I grew up watching this almost every Christmas.🐶
I watch this every year
A person of culture
I'm so glad someone else remembered this movie! This was one of my favorites from my childhood. I watched this on Nickelodeon. I never knew this was made by Matt Groening, I gotta rewatch this again. I'm so glad the algorithm gods referred your video, this was such a trip down memory lane.
Just watched the Olive movie on RUclipsr hours earlier and it was a fun blast and catching things I missed, like Matt Groening was attached and realizing the voices involved Drew Barrymore and the late great Ed Asner as Santa.
WAIT... you're not Jordan Fringe!?
Or, am I?
@@BradleySmithRUclips no your not,but you 2 are most likely friends, cause why else would you do this? youtube friends do the same as they do o3o
I knew that the mailman was Dan Cestelanetta, but I had no idea that Matt Groening helmed the whole thing.
Right? It’s a wild thing to discover
I normally don't like Chrismas stuff (was more into Halloween content), but i remember enjoying this alot
This is my favorite Christmas movie and I watch it every year on Christmas. I didn’t realize it was by Matt Groening until a few years ago when I started watching it on RUclips
First seen it on CN
Nice! It’s awesome when media from our childhoods hold up over time
THANKS FOR REMINDING US OF THIS 1!!
holy crap i totally forgot about this but now i remember that i used to see this every year as a kid during chirstmas time.
I went to a boarding school for the blind when I was a kid, and they had this on VHS. I watched this at least three times every year up until I reached the fifth grade.
I had no idea there was a kinda-sequel. I hope the voices stay the same.
That would be really cool if they made a Olive, My Love Valentine’s special!
@@BradleySmithRUclips Wait, it’s just a book? Dang.
I’ve been thinking about this one a lot this year. I was so surprised when I found out olive was voiced by drew Barrymore
I forgot this movie existed but I kinda remember that bossman Imao
Seeing this video has unlocked a deep memory in my brain.
I thought santa vs. the snow man was a fever dream. I thought it didn't exist. Why brad? I thought it was gone.
It’s a fever reality!
Thanks for watching this video by the way. :)
I HAVENT SHUT UP ABOUT THIS MOVIE ALL MONTH. THANK YOU FOR VALIDATING ME THAT THIS WASNT JUST A FEVER DREAM!
I don't remember that Christmas animation despite that looks serene and I think lost childhood memory
그 크리스마스 애니메이션은 고요해 보여도 기억이 안 나고 어린 시절의 기억을 잃은 것 같아요.
The visuals always reminded me of Parappa
One thing that always annoys about Christmas specials is that adults don't believe in Santa, but he is real and leaving presents, but don't question where they come from. This special shows exactly what would happen. He's well known and even has to make a press conference for major issues.
I originally got the VHS rented from a library.
I feel like Tim is kind of like Charlie Brown with no filter. CB is annoyed his dog doesn't act normal, but Tim seems to be trying to force Olive to be a normal dog
Olive the Other Reindeer was one of my favorites.
Yes it is such an amazing classic!!!!!! I make sure to watch this movie on RUclips every year. I need to own a DVD copy of it because nothing last on YT forever!
a warm and safe holiday season to all.
Except The Postman
Great video man! I used to watch this special all the time as a wee lad, still a great special fr
(Also Martini has the the same voice as Luigi from GTA 3 :D )
Thanks, Zac! And I mentioned Martini being Luigi. ;) Iconic actor for real
Now that that truly was a different time in a different place
I always watched this movie on CN when i was younger
Same! Classic times~
Holy crap, I whatched this when I was in first grade, and forgot about it for like, forever, but I never knew it was made by the SIMPSONS GUY!!! Thank you so much for refreshing my memory 😂
Happy holidays everyone!
It will be if they watch this special!
Olive’s owner is voiced by Jay Mohr, who looks just like Mr. Incredible irl
I remember seeing this back in the early 200s on cartoon Network
The nostalgia is flooding my mind now
I remember watching that in the 2000s of Cartoon Network man. That is something that you remember forever. It's a shame that you don't find it nowadays❤❤
Man i remember watching this every year as a kid and it was on cartoon network never seen it on nick as i recall i loved it lmao never knew matt had a hand in making it tho no wonder the jokes are so good lmao
Joe Pantoliano also was in the first Matrix movie, also Peter Matnicol was Yanosch Poha in Ghostbusters 2 & the dad in Mr. Bean: The Movie
I miss seeing the CN checkerboard in the corner every year.
I’m gonna sell glasses that have the old Cartoon Network logo in the corner so everything can have the classic checkerboard
I thought this was a new Jordan Fringe video lmfao
of course I remember it,I loved that movie to death when I was a kid,I must've watched it a million times,I still watch it every single year
Holy shit, I cant believe I forgot this special
19:17 JIMMY NEUTRON & PLANET SHEEN ARE MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS!
PLANET SHEEN IS THE MOST UNDERRATED TV SHOW & GREATEST SPINOFF SHOW EVER MADE!
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE! like I would watch it every Christmas with out fault.
Joe Pantoliano was also in Pluto Nash along side Jay Mohr….Joe played Morgan, the gangster henchman of Rex Crater who chases Pluto, Bruno and Dina.
Honestly you gotta give props to them keeping the animation relatively similar to the book's illustrations.
a character named Joe Pino in the Chilean show "31 Minutos" is actually an Olive plush that they just had lying around
I swear, I remember watching this on Nickelodeon
This is fine but the 60s Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer is the True Goat
real cartoon lovers love both
I wish they would still air this on tv but, i had to watch it RUclips. Also i had a feeling she was a jack Russell, so glad i was right.
Funny enough, I watched this and that Hoops and Yoyo special recently.
I think thats a old Christmas movie on RUclips it's like Rudolph and Merry Christmas!
Wow, that postman went to a lot more effort than the mouse from Rankin-Bass's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas who accomplished the same thing with just _one_ fake mean letter.
The 1st time I remember watching Olive The Other Reindeer was on Nickelodeon!❤️📺🎶🎄👍🏻
Your profile picture serves you right
This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time and I give zero shits about any negativity anyone says.
I watched it the other day but yeah I remember it as a kid. Interesting they decided to run with word puns based on things people know like Christmas songs and the Pledge of Allegiance
i'm really curious as to what would have happened if olive was a goose, not a dog.

*In my finest Homer Simpson voice*
Mmm.. emotional steeeeaks
I read this book as a child. I had NO idea it was a cartoon!
i remember watching this fever dream when i was in 3rd grade
I remember seeing this movie advertised on Fox8 when I was a kid. I never got around to watching it though.
I remember watching these in CN in christmas and love it, but then never apper again I spent 20 years searching for these show (because my childish brain couldnt remember the name). A couple years ago i finally found it in another RUclips channel i was stunned and beyond happy. Is also a pleasure that people are starting to talk about it, is like a it was all a dream and it was all in my brain and then finally it was confirmed that these actually happened. Also i am a huge The Simpsons and Futurama fan and when i found out is a Matt Greogoring production it was the iceing in the cake.
Sorry about the long post but the obsession this show produce me and the scanvanger hunt that was find it was a life project and finally is coming all togethere
(Also sorry for bad english is not my first languge)
Last if someone is curios, or in and obsessive hunt like me,another nice christmas special that is not talk about very much, and it was great, is robbie the reindeer (stop Motion) i think is just three episodios about a reindeer and his friends and the humour is similar to olive (if i not remember bad. And also the Plimpton Christmas special is heartworming with great animation
I had this on VHS. I remember in kindergarten we were assigned older kids as Buddy's and mine read me the book and I didn't like it because it was nothing like the special.
So Clara was right? Satan is a mailman
Olive looked just like our dog : ]
This was my shit as a kid. I love olive
HOLY SHIT THERE WAS A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL FOR THIS BOOK??? WHAAAAAAAAA
5:24 cool song
