    It's very easy and sane as 125 and other few models I have programmed by hand 800 freqs, tagged up and volume plus 3 on all, added ctcss, dcs colour codes

    I believe Tone Out is mainly for fire departments in USA. Similar to a pager. I’ve never seen it working here in uk.

    Ran is the mode 0 is the number for that talk group just like ran 1 is the code to open the transmission. Also tone out is for programming the fire depts tone into the scanner to set the alert off when that tone is received by the scanner. Kn4mfk

    I can’t believe Uniden still use the ancient “Mini USB” 😱. Seems a great radio. I’ve got the 325P2, SDS100 and 200, and Whistler TRX1 and 2. But I’d be tempted by the 260DN. Does the 160DN definitely not record ? That’s a shame when the 260DN Does. Also, did u find out where the 260DN records to ?

    If the Uniden BCD260DN performs similarly the portable BCD160DN, it will be pretty "deaf" on the analog channels. An NXDN--capable commercial radio will run circles around the Uniden radios in analog performance. I also have a Uniden SDS100 portable scanner; it also performs pretty poorly on analog channels--ridiculous, considering what the SDS100 costs.

      Not noticing any major issues with analogue on 160dn, 125 or my sds100 units all do very well and I scan and listen a lot from farms radios, to cctv users, to factories, to shops, mil and civil air, marine ok not done that on 160dn as yet

      Currently actually seems better on uhf mil air than the 125 on same aerial and location but only a slight differance

      @@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Not a problem, happy to help. DMR has 16 colour codes (0-15), and NXDN has 64 (RAN0 to 63). Kenwood seem to use NXDN.

      That was a mid range scanner more I suppose it's not having close call for dmr and analogue and having to switch between searching a sub tone or digital code, why on earth do I have to keep switching should be be automatically done
      Also dtxg the sevuce searches expecially got uk, marine and uhd and vhf air not full, set up your own if mil 137 to 155.975 25 kz set up am, 118 to 137 8.33 a vhf air and 225 to 399.975 25 kHz am mil air uhf, but remeber 137 to 155.975 25 Kh also mu h military air

    how does it compare to the sds 200.

    • @HamTechRadioScannerDrones
      @HamTechRadioScannerDrones  4 месяца назад +1

      There are some similarities but they are totally different as the sds200 uses Systems , Departments and channels , the 260 is way simpler using Banks and channels .

      @@HamTechRadioScannerDrones the system Whistler TRX and Uniden SDS use is ridiculously complicated when starting out in scanning. Very daunting. It’s okay when you get used to the way it works though. But they’ve built the 160DN the way I’ve always wanted, in 10 banks of 100. Just like the old scanning days. This should simplify DMR scanners for those who find Systems, Departments, Trunking and Groups too complicated. A good move by Uniden.

      @@HamTechRadioScannerDrones I've been considering the SDS200 but put off by its complexity and price. The 260DN looks much easier to program and operate and is about half the price. Looking forward to somebody in the UK stocking them.
