  • The Time USB 100AH Pro batteries that I used has a 4% discount code of:
    BMC (from www.timeusbpower.com)
The Anderson connector was the hardest thing in the process, I first tried to crimp the terminals, that was a mistake, so I ended up soldiering them.
The battery replacement was a pretty easy to do.
I purchased the EG4 LiFePO4 charger from: Signature Solar signaturesolar.com
    Total Cost:
    $215.36 Charger
    $1250.00 Batteries
$20.00 Anderson connector, wire, battery connector
    Total
    $1485.36

Great info on the batteries. Need a foll🎉ow-up video to see what connections you made for a new charger.

We have not noticed much lost of traction switching to LIFEPO4 batteries! More power and a much longer running time.

The last few seconds are hilarious: "...my wife is the one that uses this mower and she was complaining that they run out real quick. The..." (Video ends). LOL!
Anyway, from what I understand, only about half the amp hours are usable on lead acid batteries because you're not supposed to run them down below 50%, so 100AH lead acid is really closer to 50AH. On the other hand, lithium Ion and especially LiFePo batteries have no problem going much further down and so you get much more usability out of them. So, replacing a 100AH lead acid set up with a 50AH LiFePo setup would basically be equivalent as far as amp hours go, but the LiFePos would be superior in every other way.

why did you buy a separate charger? wouldn't the original power supply charge them just fine?

Will the OEM charger charge LiFePO4 batteries?

Actually I did reuse the main Anderson connector, that power the motors and drive unit. I added another Anderson connector for charging from the new Charger I got for the Lithium Iron Phosphate from Signature Solar!

Misc. Parts from Amazon, batteries directly from TimeUSB. There are better prices on 12v 100ah batteries now, but get the standard size not mini.

Why didnt you reuse the original cables and Anderson connectors? This is a clean, very oem looking fit. Does the battery gauge still work?

Batteries with that low of charge are usually bad. We have had very good luck changing over to Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, there are right now batteries you can buy from Battery Hook Up for $110 for 12 volt 100 ah LFP, they do need a BMS. I never use any battery now without a BMS. Battery Hook Up sells BMS’s, I personally like Daly’s or JK’s. I’m also waiting for two 12 volt 100ah batteries from Amazon that I will be making a video of the cheapest LFP 12 volt batteries you can buy on Amazon! They probably will be a better deal, then the used batteries from Battery HookUp because they are new and come with a BMS. I really prefer to spend a little bit more on a good BMS, so do consider those batteries from HookUp Up!

I "inherited" a RM480e, and I bought new LiPO4 batteries. I'm missing the part you reference at 3:30 in your video- little wire with little connector - I have to buy another one of those. I have the part number, I think, but it is $70 for that little cable. Do you know what it does and is there a possible cheaper option?

That plug on 3:30 goes to the seat plug

If you fall off your seat it shuts down the mower, I really recommend installing it

Did the lose of weight effect the traction?

The voltage may be OK but the Amps are probably not OK. You need to be able to not only check the voltage but also the amperage of each battery. You may have only one bad battery in the Amp dept.

I wouldn’t trust any charger that was not specifically designed for LFP batteries! Overcharging Lithium Iron phosphate is a no no!
