  • Shane Hendren shares why the GRS® MagnaBlock™ and the MicroBlock® are his go-to choices at the bench. The MagnaBlock is exceptional for large and small pieces while the MicroBlock can be used directly on your bench and easily moved out of the way when not in use.

I have the GRS Magna vise and had my jaws ground down to 30 mm and it works better for me. I can keep my hands braced on the lower part of the block which gives me more control. Thanks GRS.

Hi there! Thank you for your question! There is no significant movement when the jaws are open.

Dear Hendren. I spoke with Sam Alfano and for traditional Chisel and Hammer he told me I should get the heavier vise
I can get and he told me about the magnablock. I have two questions. Could I position it on my steady woodworking bench? Doesn't it slide? What do you think about what Alfano suggested me? Finally I see there are not many holes for the pins so what if I'm engraving a small bracket for the furniture that I make, am i still able to hold it or should i buy addons to fit it into the vise? Thank you

Hi there! Thank you for your question! The magnablock is 32.5 lbs. so long as the bench is adequate for this kind of weight it should work. It has a rubber base that reduces the potential to slide, but that also depends on how slick the surface it is placed on is. Sam Alfano is master and I would take his advice. The GRS 520 attachment set item number #118096 can be used with this vise to provide more clamping possibilities.
