Does the Nissan Serena from 2018 makes a very sensible purchase?

  • The Nissan Serena used to be a van but now it's a smart seven-seat MPV for you to drive around. This one is from our Channel sponsor Kylemore Cars and is a Japanese import with some quirky features.

Had one from 1997 to 2007 very practical - slow - reliable and economical. Rear seats fold up into boot so van like space. Great for when you have 3 small kids and need to transport them and their mates anywhere. Plus unlike much, much more expensive VW Caravelle the windows properly wind down in rear doors.

Having little like this in the UK market is why so many people import Nissan Elgrands and Toyota Alphards. I have the latter. Great car.

We should have been paying far closer attention to the Japanese for years.
They don't go in for diesels in a big way, why was that?
They sale tonnes of interesting vehicles but keep them to themselves.
They could have been selling them here for years instead of the dowdy stuff we generally get.

It is real torture to sit on the third-row seats if you are not a child or a very short person ( 160 cm or less). You can withstand this torture max. for 15 minutes. The reason is that the seats are very low, thus you need to bend your legs unnaturally.

you can move that small seat / tray / armrest to the front row to make a 2-2-2/3 seat configuration allowing rear passengers to walk thru to the rear seats, and if needed, you open the small seat in the middle row to change to a 2-3-2/3. In fact seat configuration maybe 2-0-0, 2-2-0, 2-3-0 as well.
Extremely practical car / van for a family.

For people who have given up on life but want to look after their kids lol. Its proportians just look all wrong. It could have been a good looker but its not. I think its because its so narrow and tall.

Size to do with the Japanese car tax system, if vehicles bigger than than they get clobbered by the Government, it's to encourage smaller vehicles due to the lack of space in their cities apparently.
A lot are imported after (I think) ten years or so, to get rid of older cars off the road, by, (you guessed it) the Government taxing the crap out of older cars. (and you thought our Government was bad! ) :)
