Rubin was my favorite fighter back in his heyday. Jose Torre's description, "when opponents resisted his power" he lost his drive, is perfect. At the time I was following him, his quick and explosive/powerful combinations gave one the feeling that this guy couldn't lose. As it turned out, not the case. Dick Tiger taking him apart assured that. I always found Dylan's "he could have been Champion of the World" to be obnoxious as at the time of the arrest, his career was clearly in a tail spin. Thanks for the upload. It's the first time I watched it and for the first time have an in depth understanding of the injustice.
Well, I think Hurricane could destroy any man if he was in the right mind and he put his heart and ambition into it. Lets say his life was in danger....he would become even more heartless, and ruthless than the people who felt no sympathy for him and his family by placing him in the cell for 20 years.
Hurricane was a monster, and no man could truly beat him. Out on the street, he's the toughest. The only men to match him might be the other greats in the ring he faced.
Patterson New Jersey racial purity headquarters for the KKK of the North and Homeland Detective De Simone who hated African Americans. There was not one eye-witness but the way Calvin Deal talks, walks and blabbers his mouth you would think he was there. The fact thar Calvin Deal and his website drones on and on about Rubin Carter and John Artis commited the crime however there was no eyewitness which makes you wonder about who is covering up the crimes? The victim in the hospital refused to identify Rubin Carter as the killer.
If HE was soooo innocent why were there two different Alibis as to where they were.....?? ?? ?? Why ?? He was so guilty that refused as lie detectot test that would have completely set him free !! He denied to take it folks !! He always had a story and an excuse,...and it was always based on Race.... He did this crime for his friend who's son was killed a few hours before the crime. His friend told Police.....,if you don't do anything ,..."I will"...and many people identified him as the killer , same car .... same guns ......same location.....and two dofferent stories on their whereabouts from both Artis & Carter.....there was a reason these men were convicted Twice !! Patterson had it's Racial problems ..but this was clear cut. The two men were guilty....I wish he was'nt but........he was one of the Killers .
Don't believe the film, and take The 16th Round with a pinch of salt. Read the other books and find out as much as you can, and you're still in doubt! However what sways it for me is this, if Carter and Artis did this, then Carter fired the shotgun that killed one victim, and Artis fired the handgun which killed two others, and eventually the final victim. He stood and pumped a number of bullets into Hazel Tanis. When you look at John Artis, do you see a boy capable of mercilessly killing three people in cold blood? Yet if Carter was there, so was Artis.
+4v4nte Yes, but there was a THIRD person involved..Nobody ratted him out. They dropped him off, then they were pulled over. That's what I meant when I said that Artis may have just been the driver, and Carter and the other dude did the murders.
markymarc_b The third person in the car was Bucks Royster, an old drunk who virtually lived at the NiteSpot. He was probably more drunk and incapable than Artis at the time. Also, Bello saw two men running out , Valentine saw two men get in the car, one in the front passenger seat, one in the drivers seat. He was also identified by the police when they first stopped the car, with three people inside.
@@coperpot100 That is incorrect. There was a black man murdered earlier that day by a white male, but the man was not related to John Artis. The white male was convicted and ironically only received ten years for the murder. Yet, Patterson, NJ law enforcement were trying to give Rubin Carter and John Artis the death penalty.🤔 Here is a link to a great interview with John Artis: ruclips.net/video/zkJQ5XOYCoE/видео.html It provides some of the best insight into the case that I have heard.
You don't know the facts behind the crime! Learn them before you make such idiotic statements "This guy was guilty as sin" .There's only a few people who know what actually happened that night and your not one of them.

Since they couldn't beat him in the ring fare and square, they did him dirty and cheated by sticking him in a cell.

So, Carter was either directly or indirectly involved. Now I'm hearing that he was indeed in the car, but did not do the shooting.

Artis was not even carters friend, was Carter a bad man yes was the man who got a lift home no far from it,
Rocky fish I heard that Artist dad was murdered that day A few hours before the murder in the bar
