    Would love to see photo examples from the reception with just your continuous light and how that looks! Love the simplicity you bring to your gear

    My husband was inspired to buy the z6ii and the 24-120f/4S from you. Now I’m still learning on how to use it to it’s full potential. And i can honestly say it’s an awesome camera, takes beautiful pictures. I was shocked by the price tho😱 the lens alone 👀
    Watching your videos for some tips. Thank you

    Not photography related specifically but shooting in Australia it's so handy to pack roll on sunscreen and insect repellant.

    Hey Luke, love your loadout - have a similar one down to the capture clips but use the pentax 645n instead of a contax. Youve been shooting weddings for 10 years, who would you say are you greatest influences? Aside from your own experience, have you taken any courses or classes from other wedding photographers? What would you recommend?

    • @lukewtcleland
      @lukewtcleland  Год назад

      Thanks! Oh that's awesome. I would say my biggest influences actually have been fine artists. Van Gogh, The Group of 7, Degas, etc. In terms of wedding photographers, Jen Huang Bogan would be my fav. I have never taken a course or class, so not much help there sorry! (but I'm currently working on creative one from my own experience)

    Hey Luke, thanks for the video. I like the idea of the clipboard since its much more professional than folded up paper in my camera bag but I'm having a hard time figuring how I would store it throughout a wedding day. Where do you keep your clipboard? Do you have it on you at all times or just when you need it? If you keep it in your large camera bag/case, then where do you keep that bag throughout the day? Thanks!

    Great insights here - the Contax 645 will be mine one day haha! I've been struggling recently to find a reasonable outlook on how many photos one should deliver for a wedding - would you be able to share your stance on this?

      That's great! I may be rethinking the contax 645 - videos to come!
      Oh that's actually a great idea for a video, how many photos to shoot/deliver for a wedding. I'll add it to the list! Stay tuned!

    Luke - I'm an events photographer and tend to be able to get in quite close for all of my photos. I have a shoot tomorrow, which is a dragon boat regatta. Because they need close ups of the rowers, and I'll mostly be on land, I hired the Z70-200 2.8. I've hired and used it before and don't like it - it's huge, and I like to be very intimate with my photos - right up close to the action always. Hence - 90% of all my shots are on the incredible 24-70 2.8s. Also, like you, I shoot everything with daylight HSS, TTL flash on my V1. Here in Perth, Australia, the weather is basically always sunny, and unfortunately most of my events are always from about 10am - 4pm. The fill flash is marvelous and takes the shadows out from under the eyes and balances the light beautifully on faces. My question - I shoot with two z6ii's. However, because I don't want to get the big lens very often, and I always want to get in close, there is the odd time that I need to us DX crop mode on the Z6ii, or I have to crop the image in tight on Capture One. I'm finding if I do that on the Z6ii, the final image is quite small in size (only around 8-10 mp). I'm wondering if I should sell one of my 6ii's, and get the 7ii, so when I crop in tight, because of the 45mp sensor, I'll still have a reasonably sized image. Have you had any experience with the Z7ii, and what do you think of this idea?

      Nikons coming out with new cameras this year, perhaps just wait a bit longer with camera purchasing decisions. What about getting an 85 prime? It’s lightweight and has a bit more reach than the 24-70

    • @lukewtcleland
      @lukewtcleland  Год назад

      Hey Philip - thanks for watching and your question! My initial thought is that I don't like relying on resolution to crop in. Especially if you don't necessarily need that resolution generally. Because you'll also have larger files to store, and larger files to edit with. An 85 prime is a great idea, and if you want even more than that, theres a 105mm 2.8 that we have and it is large, but its very lightweight (less than half the weight of the 70-200.
      I haven't used the z7 yet. But seems like a good camera. Also, I know you're aware of the final image size being small. But does your end use or your client even need it to be bigger than that? That's more than enough for web usage, and I would say maybe look into what the max printing size would be and go from there. Hope that helps!

      @lukewtcleland  Год назад

      I agree! It does seem like they will come out with more soon. So maybe waiting a little longer is a good idea.

      @@lukewtcleland That's a great answer Luke and you may have saved me a lot of money. The Z7ii in Australia right now is over 5K - a very expensive camera. The 85 1.8 is a lot less than that. I'll look into this - you may be onto something. Yes too - my old 27inch mac is quite slow now with Capture One, so perhaps those huge files from the Z7 would kill it off - ha! Cheers

      Hey Luisa! I use the 80mm and 45mm Contax lenses on my Contax. I don't use any adapters for them, but I have been interested to see if there is anyway to use other lenses. Of course! Thanks for watching!
