    fav song on the album. I'm guessing that sound towards the end of the song is Greg breaking something in the vocal booth. This song sounds very NIN inspired: love it

    Does anyone else feel that Liam has more of a presence on this than bass has previously enjoyed on Dillinger releases? Also, I honestly believe these might be Greg's best and most varied performances so far :)

    When people say things like dep have gone soft. You know they have never been in a serious band and know nothing about music.

    • @user-vj1pq6uz8m
      @user-vj1pq6uz8m 10 лет назад +1

      I've been in serious bands, I'm 37 now, i was on stage since 15 in '92, signed 16, opened for Overkill, Souls at Zero (wrathchild america) the last disc i put out in late '09 is in a movie and in the trailer.... THE POINT IS... is that for me, it's not a fact of DEP getting soft, it's them not being DEP, or doing what they used to do - they stood out like a sore thumb, NOW OR NEVER, NJ HARDCORE SPLIT, UNDER THE RUNNING BOARD, CALCULATING INFINITY and then MISS MACHINE? I mean, bands evolve and it's good or bad, but the point is that they sound like tons of other bands now that were influenced by CALCULATING INFINITY, i mean, after MISS MACHINE which was horrible, they did some okay stuff, but even their new single, no one would be able to tell the difference between any of those albums - Ire Works, Operation Paralysis, One of us is the killer... there's ONE ORIGINAL MEMBER... it's a different band that sounds nothing like prior LINE UP and every album now sounds the same, and plus, their on stage stuff now is ridiculous. Pig Destroyer is a band that evolved in a good.... In my opinion its' like The Deftones changed and never went back to being what they were, but at least you have the line-up, the same vocalist, here you don't even have the poetry and you have a singer/screamer? Go listen to INHALE/EXHALE, THE NUMBER 12 LOOKS LIKE YOU, BRING ME THE HORIZON, ect ect, DEP NOW is influenced by DEP

    • @user-vj1pq6uz8m
      @user-vj1pq6uz8m 10 лет назад

      If i were you, i'd go and buy their orignal stuff - "Now Or Never" and "Under the Running Board" EPs and the album "Calculating Infinity" and you'll see the brilliance in it and the difference, you have to realize, this is a completely different line up and a different vocalist and lyricist in every sense

    • @Dekartz
      @Dekartz 9 лет назад +34

      Robert Earle Stanton You lose all credibility when you state that their albums all sound the same. There's a considerable amount of variance in the songs on this very album sound much less their back catalog.
      Alternatively, it seems like you want every album to be Calculating Infinity and have lumped all of their albums since into the vague grouping of "Not calculating infinity".

    • @user-vj1pq6uz8m
      @user-vj1pq6uz8m 9 лет назад

      Dekartz I understand things evolve, 1st, i appreciated the first EP "Now or Never" to the original 3 song "Under the Running Board" - right there you have a big difference, and onto "Calculating Infinity" - i saw them prior to the release of that, what I found interesting was the complexity plus Adam Doll would write poetry,not lyricism, and it would be conveyed by a hardcore vocalist in Dimitri. As a huge "Patton" fan even I was upset at the idea of Patton working with DEP at first (because i knew Mike would write lyrics) and was skeptical of someone else doing vocals other than Dimitri - however Adam Doll worked on that album also, and as we learned, Mike Patton can do anything and did an amazing EP with "Irony is a dead scene" which was definitely a highlight... to then hire that hack who can't be Mike Patton and was blowing fireballs in the crowd and i saw him bleeding onstage and the whole act, one original member, they should have changed their name because the next album was friggin' horrible -
      I really try and like the band, it seems as they were once very unique that they fit in with everything now - with every album, and yes, i listen to every one, there are a couple songs here and there, however they should have changed their friggin' name - one orignal member that plays guitar and what they are has nothing to do with The Dillinger Escape Plan i loved

    • @LintRiggs_
      @LintRiggs_ 5 лет назад +6

      @@user-vj1pq6uz8m It must be boring to play the same shit every song. They clearly have a wide and varied taste in music. People say you sell out when you change your sound. i think it's precisely the opposite. A band tries to keep a "true", an original, sound to appease their old fans, which often kills authenticity and creativity.. People evolve and mature. And to kill that is the ultimate sell out; just for the fear of losing a fan base and their approval. It takes guts to say "fuck that" and try something else. That is well more rebellious than if they had just kept their same sound to keep their fans happy, and I applaud them for it.

    The irony in all this is virtually every band (that hasn't broken up) in their peer group has changed drastically since they were formed: Coalesce, Burnt by the Sun, Cave In, etc. (You could make a case for Converge, I guess.) That original "mathcore/metalcore sound" is dead, though.

    Trey and Patton found DEP, after DEP did NOW OR NEVER and UNDER THE RUNNING BOARD, and I saw them, the REAL DEP open for Mr Bungle in '99, then they put out CALCULATING INFINITY, after Dimitri quit they had no vocalist and Patton did an EP with Adam aboard, after that MISS MACHINE? that album sucked, The others there are spots, like on this, where there are great spots, this album's pretty good

    • @AnonymouStalkerCorp
      @AnonymouStalkerCorp 10 лет назад +13

      Tell me, what is so bad about Miss Machine? It certainly doesn't lack the aggression of Calculating Infinity. Just listen to shit like Van Damsel and The Perfect Design. They added more vocal diversity into the equation with Miss Machine. Something they clearly lacked on Calculating Inifinity and really brought out on the EP with Mike Patton.
