Might be an unpopular take, but I really don't like the direction they're taking Palpatine, especially in the Darth Vader 2020 comic. In the previous 2017 comic, Palpatine still showed respect to vader and it was implied he wasn't that much more powerful. But now, with the introduction to Exegol, he is potrayed as a god and almost nothing of consequence matters to him.
Exactly. Sidious is a masterful duelist and in force power. But should not be invincible. Very few should be able to beats Palps. Also like how vulnerable they made Palps in RoTS. He is a master planner...but cant determine every avenue. Him losing to Mace proves that and how scared he was. Plus its possible with enough time Yoda couldve beat Palps.
I just wish we got George’s version. Also theory idea, what if obi wan was told he can’t train anakin and instead left the order and took anakin with him to train
it would have been just as hated by the fandom considering by the early 2000s the EU (legends) was already beloved by fans and georges seauels would have contradicted them.
Yo that’s a really interesting theory man! I hope he used this idea for a vid I’d definitely watch that. If he doesn’t you should pull a Thanos and do it yourself 😂
One that wasn't mentioned that I personally love is when Palpatine goes nuts and slaughters the Lylek on Ryloth. Vader was fighting alongside him, just trying to stay alive, but his master was having a freaking ball, crackling with laughter and unleashing his full prowess with a lightsaber as he cut the most dangerous beasts on Ryloth down, including a Queen Lylek.
Honorable mention, Lord's of the Sith book where Palpatine slaughtered that entire village on Felucia(sp?) after one of the villagers found out he was force sensitive.
Thank you for covering this so much. I don’t have much of the legends. So your videos fill in the gaps. I just love Legends Luke and Leia. I love their children. Disney effed up by not allowing Luke to marry and have his own children. In Disney, unless they decide to later have the healing produce a force baby of Ben and Rey, the actual Skywalker bloodline is gone.
❤️ your daily content. Put my other SW nerdy friends on your Vader video. Proud to see how much your powers have grown over the years. We'll be watching your rise with great interest 🙂
Yeah. I concur. After that story arc I could never think of a believable way D.V. could take "Ol' Grizzle". Before, he at least stood a chance and given more time I think there WAS a chance. Yes, the Palps was the ultimate strategist, but Vader was always bettering himself always looking for an edge and that kept him ravenous. Compared to Palpatine, Vader doesn't get the credit for his OWN cunning and smarts. I think Vader would have eventually found a way to nullify his mechanical weaknesses (i.e the force lightning and any mobility issues) Vader overcomes EVERYTHING thrown at him; that's why he's by far the most fascinating character in the whole of Star Wars. Making Palpatine "unbeatable" takes away Vader's only reason to live and thus kills what makes him fascinating. \m/
I agree it was writ that way on purpose so that the weaker protag can win just like how Luke stood no chance against palpatine so to destroy him Vader blind sided him and threw him off cliff

Hey SW Theory, I don't know if you remember this one scene but it's from the book Lord's of the Sith. Where Cham Syndulla and his band of rebels try to assassinate Palpatine and Vader when they arrive on Ryloth, correct me if I'm wrong though I believe some Imperials were involved in the plan as well.
Do a video on all the different throne rooms he has on Coruscant, they keep contradicting themselves 😂 he probably has like 20 different thrones in case he gets a bomb threat.
I think back in the old days of early EU material they got a bit too carried away with Luke's power. In that regard, I prefer the approach Filoni and Favreau chose, cause Luke didn't have that much formal training so he is supposed to looks a bit less fancy. He's supposed to SLOWLY learn thing by reading and listen to holocroms and such. Like, the end of Mando S2 was perfect: he's very skillful, but he's more pragmatic than the Jedi of the republic cause, well, he has to be; he's pretty much the last jedi (let's not mention the movie) so it makes sense. Of course, it will be all for naught cause... yeah, epVIII
It’s important to note though, that the EU isn’t a monolith. While Tom Veitch got carried away in Dark Empire, Timothy Zahn portrayed a much more grounded Luke who was far less powerful chronologically just a year before in the Thrawn Trilogy, of which Filoni and Favreau have been taking inspiration from. Luke was in the same way, less fancy and arguably even less powerful than Mando Luke had been (depends on how strong the Darktroopers really are). When Zahn came back to do the Hand of Thrawn, he addressed the big power up as Luke unconsciously tapping into the dark side. In part because of being far inferior to the dark Jedi Joruus C’baoth (a clone of a Jedi master) and his brief apprenticeship with Palpatine. He dialed back Luke’s use of his power while also making him to be more aware of his senses, visions and more subtle uses of the Force instead. Then the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy and the Jedi needed to be as strong as they could be to save it. This, his talent as the son of the Chosen One, all the experience and knowledge he accumulated in decades and the Dark Side cloud Sidious and Plagueis made no longer limiting the Light are why he became so powerful in the EU. As Obi-Wan told him in their final encounter, Luke was not the Last of the Old Jedi, but the First of the New, the New Jedi Order. That’s one of the many reasons he’ll always be the definitive version of Luke.
Love the vid as always. I Was curious if you ever plan to do a collection video? I know we see bits of your collection, but I’d love to see it all in one video!
I wonder how different the time after return of the Jedi would’ve been if vader didn’t die? That’d be a crazy what if idea lol. To me he’d probably go back to be with Luke on the rebellion, and possibly become a gray Jedi. That’d be kinda cool.
I wonder if it is true that Matt Smith was suppose to play a younger version of Palpatine in Episode IX, but it was cut because Disney (and especially KK) doesn't know SW.

The last couple entries gave me idea. Make another list comprised of times someone attempted to assassinate and/or overthrow Palpatine. I know for a fact that both canon and legends have plenty of stories where either a member of the rebellion, or an imperial who thinks they can do it better, tried to do one of those things (on screen fights with a Jedi or Sith, events where Palpatine paid someone to PRETEND to do that, or Vader trying to train an apprentice probably shouldn't count).
After really doing a lot of research on the sequel trilogy in relation to Palpatine… Imagine if Snoke was Siddious’ consciousness transferred to Snoke before he died!!! Then Johnson kills the character of Snoke off!!! 🤣🤣 OMG what a train wreck!
Think of it of they would start with the path of destruction up til shown in Phantom menace Palps would be cool to show but yeah he was a very wicked being .. . Thanks for showing these variants of him
video idea, in the kenobi episode six fight between obi wan and vader, you can see obi wan use anikans signatures lightsaber spin behind the back several times. could of obi wan actully of taught this to anakin, or did obi wan learn from hi aprentice and use his own move against him. im not your closest watcher so ill feel like an idiot if u have already made a video on this, but i am certaintly the biggest star wars fan.

Rey Nobody and dollar store Darth Caedus would never have stood a chance against Palpatine. Never mind a fully powered younger Palpatine with a younger body.
