Most people have little understanding about Air Defence system and thus, easily fall for the hype of S-400 parroted by the bots. They fall for paper performance without realizing its real world implication. The S-400 became operational in 2007 and glorified for its 400 km engagement range - little do many realize that the SAM (40N6) with 380 km range didn’t become operational until very recently. They’re also unaware of the type of target(s) 40N6 is designed to engage. For nearly a decade, Russian outlets claimed 40N6 having Mach 14 speed with ‘anti-satellite’ capability - only when the missile went operational a year ago, the manufacturer’s data pointed a complete different reality - Mach 3.5 speed with smaller engagement altitude than PAC-3 MSE against ballistic missiles. And it’s designed specifically for non-maneuverable targets (AWACS, Bombers, UAVs, etc.) and not ideal for tactical Fighters. Against Fighter aircraft, S-400’s range actually shrink to a maximum of 200-250 km with 48N6E variants. This is not much different than the so-called "inferior" Patriot. For decades, outlets highlighted everytime Patriot failed, while ignoring its successes. In 4 years, Patriot in Saudi Arabia intercepted over 230 ballistic missiles - that’s more than 1 intercept every week. How many ballistic missiles or anything did S-400 intercept in last 15 years of service? Zero. People talk about Patriot’s failure in recent attack on Abqaiq oil refinery in Saudi Arabia, how it failed to intercept Iranian drones while overlooking S-400’s performance in Syria. The S-400 had been deployed in Russia’s Khmeimim air base in Syria since 2015 and that particular air base faced multiple drone attacks over last 3 years. There has been multiple failure to defend the air base against drone attacks, some resulting in Russian aircraft being damaged and personnel killed - yet the S-400 was never used to engage any UAVs despite repeated failure of point defence systems. These also highlighted serious flaws in Pantsir S1 - a system designed specifically to deal with such threats and Russian analysts reporting those flaws were forced to remove their posts. The US fielded PAC-3 with hit-to-kill warhead in 2000 as kinetic warheads are much more effective against hypersonic targets. Russia still relies on conventional fragmentation warhead and there’s no indication of it getting kinetic warhead anytime soon. At the same time people don’t look at Aegis platforms, which is the US equivalent of Strategic Air Defence system. The S-400’s pesa primary Search radar 91N6E is capable of detecting a 0.4 m2 ballistic target from 250 km. The Aegis’s now obsolete and non-AESA SPY-1D(v) reportedly “can track golf ball-sized targets at ranges in excess of 165 km.” Golf ball = 0.0025 m2. For a direct comparison, if you scale SPY-1D’s range to 0.4 m2, then it corresponds to 587 km - that’s more than twice the range of S-400 (91N6E). Unlike S-400’s overhyped 40N6, the SM-6 on Aegis with 260 km+ range can engage almost any endo-atmospheric target from sea-skimming cruise missiles, tactical aircraft to manoeuvrable ballistic missiles in their terminal stage. There’s nothing comparable to SM-3 in Russian service, the most tested exo-atmospheric interceptor with a range of 2,500 km. The Aegis BMD system have demonstrated its ability to engage targets over the horizon using targeting data coming from airborne platforms as part of Cooperative Engagement (NIFC-CA). SM-6 have engaged cruise missiles solely relying on targeting data from F-35 or E-2D. When was the last time you heard S-400 doing something like this?
^^Well said 😉 I also want to point out that Patriot was designed to fully integrate with various tactical defense platforms extending its capability substantially. In 1977 Patriot was integrated with HAWK & it has only improved since then.

It was not even designed to be better, but Russia lost ability to make many parts after fall of USSR. So it is just slightly more compact modernization. @@goldendiamond761 The same is true of Patriot batteries. The difference is Patriot batteries have been improved the last 20 years. Russian air defense hasn't
The US only had 700-800 ATACMs because we haven’t been buying them for a while. The weapon that replaced the ATACMs has already arrived and is filling Army inventories as we speak. The PRSM or Precision Strike Missile. It is quite a bit more advanced than ATACMs and has a range of at least 310 miles but probably upwards of 550 miles the exact range is classified. And it can hit moving targets on land or sea. It was test fired against a decommissioned warship traveling at 20 knots and scored a direct hit. The CEP Circle area of probability is 1 meter. So draw a circle on the target 1 meter in diameter and the weapon will hit inside that circle. It’s incredibly accurate. ATACMs is at bad either it’s CEP is 3 meters especially the latest ones. But about the ATACMs we will probably wind up giving Ukraine about 80% of ours we will give them more as the PRSM is delivered or the Prism missile for short. It is a smaller missile too with the same size warhead so one HIMARS launcher can hold 2 Prisms as opposed to 1 ATACMs. But the US is not the only country that has ATACMs and I believe there is still a production line for them gone in the United States as it’s sold to allies. South Korea has a lot of them and they will probably give Ukraine some of them and some European Coumtries have it too I don’t know which ones off the top Of my head.
This is false. The US has 4000 ATACMS in their stockpiles and 500 a year are being manufactured at this very moment to fulfill an order that was placed in 2022. The US can keep giving ATACMS as long as they have funding.
Is there a new PrSM Increments 3 missile developed that increases range beyond 1000km and has a antiship capability as well as land attack. This missile should shake up the Russians.
Thing about the strike vid is the S-400 didnt start firing until juat before impact and only got off three, maybe four missiles, like they disnt realize they were under attack until it was way too late.
Which is weird because a ballistic missile really isn't hard to spot and identify. I think what's happened here is S-400 isn't actually designed to hit tactical ballistic missiles, just air breathing targets. I reckon they _hoped_ it would have a secondary capability against TBMs, and that wing and a prayer got written into the sales pitch. Russia will NEVER say a weapon can't do something if you asked them.
In the full video i saw 6 failed interceptor launches. not just 3 given how fast ATACMS travel the first interceptor missile being launches wasnt right before impact. It just seems that way because the missiles travel fast. When they tried to intercept the atacms was still farther away
I think this video lacks the difference between S-300V and S-300P. S-400 is basically an upgraded S-300P, while S-300V was optimized against ballistic missiles.
Most Western air Defense platforms are turn-key 🔑operational. Meaning that very little user input is required for them to function after they are set up. Russian platforms rely on operators to correlate tracks which introduces errors & requires skilled radar operators which can be difficult to train/find.
Thanks Binkov, hope you are staying well and keeping any seasonal ailments at bay. Appreciate the time and effort you put into this video even though sometimes my bias makes me want to grumble and disagree with your statements. Keep it up.

@@dailyrant4068 " We don't know but assuming it was a saturation attack" except we do know. ATACMS are big they can only be fired once by a HIMARS truck before reloading. Meaning Ukraine already needed multiple HIMARS trucks to hit the S400 multiple times. If it had been a saturation attack this would have meant they needed their entire stockpile of HIMARS trucks near this exact spot. Which strategically speaking is not sensible. Why keep your entire stock of HIMARS trucks in one spot on the off chance you catch a group of s400 off guard. Also logistically speaking it is nonsense to keep their very limited supply of ATACMS all in one spot as well. At best they keep 3-4 missiles in one region at a time. Which is exactly what was fired. Sad Binkov failed to mention how logically speaking it is impossible for this to have been a saturation attack.
The Aegis’s now obsolete and non-AESA SPY-1D(v) reportedly “can track golf ball-sized targets at ranges in excess of 165 km.”
Golf ball = 0.0025 m2.

South Korea has a lot of them and they will probably give Ukraine some of them and some European Coumtries have it too I don’t know which ones off the top

This is false.
The US has 4000 ATACMS in their stockpiles and 500 a year are being manufactured at this very moment to fulfill an order that was placed in 2022.

-how many atacms fired at S400
-What is the intercept %?
-What is the opportunity cost of targeting S400?
-What benefit is there for Ukr targeting S400?
-What % of atacms are fired at S400 vs all other targets?
-How many atacms are Ukr rx each month vs S400 production?
These are pertinent questions the channel dodges because of what this channel promotes...

It would appear RU has a bottleneck in Active Radar missile production both SAM and AA, as the "AMRAAM-SKI" (R-77) is equally rare being observed in Russian service.
Isn´t there like 1 radar for one battery of 4 for S300 and S400?
Excellent info
To answer your question: why can't they defend against Atacms? Because they are Russian S400.
Yes s400 they can only defend against airliners
@@neiltitmus9744That was a Buk (SA-11 or 17) medium range missile. There's no way the DPR had an S-400 system while they were just a bunch of rebels supported by Russia, their arms were mostly just kept from the elements of the Ukrainian army who defected to the pro-Russian side, and they had lots of Buk systems.
@@DaFinkingOrk Do you really think S-400 is much different? Also Buk what take out that airliner in Donbas was model present only in Russian military. Because those Rebels were literally from Moscow. Look Girkin.

Ballistic missiles -- from Hitler's V-2 to ATACMS -- are very hard to shoot down. They fly faster (even the V-2 was supersonic), but don't carry as much explosives, as the slower cruise missiles.

It had been reported thatt S-400 batteries scheduled for overrseas delivery... have been delayed, sine die.
That's correct. The Russians still owe 2 batteries to the Indians.
They had until December 2023 to deliver the last 2 batteries in an order that was originally... 🤔... originally 7 or 8, I think. They've missed that deadline.
I don't know if they're short on any other clients. I don't think they are, but I don't keep up with many other Countries. Not too many parties buy weapons like this, & half of those who can build their own.

america has spend 180 to 240 billion in two years to its 24 trillion a year gdp to help ukraine, and ukraine has be able to do so well becuse of america, america is basically using less then 1% of it gdp and russia cant even compete with that, like using a finger in a arm wrestle xD

See the launch at ~@5:21 ? The launcher has a decoy plate on the front of the launcher to help confuse the enemy if it was being observed. Its hiding its capability by looking like it has a set of smaller GMLR missiles, but breaks away at launch like "haha just kidding im launching at something 300km away instead."

It'll HELP with that mission but Ukraine only gains air superiority by putting wings in the air.

Ahhh your info is so wrong, almost like you didn't bother to research this story one bit, the U.S. isn't restarting production of the atacms, atacms is a much older weapon developed decades ago, the U.S. was waiting for the new PrSM missile to go into full scale production, and since the U.S. armed forces got their first batch of PrSM missiles in December 2023, they started to replace the atacms and send them to Ukraine.
