Hey Laura! Just wanted to chime in and say THANK you for all the work you put into these videos. Your task list is already huge, but taking the time to set up the different camera angles and bringing us along makes every chore a little more complex. You have taught me so much and given me the confidence to try new things out in my garden and I’m so grateful! We have friends that recently moved here to Boise and aren’t as familiar with their plants. They were about to rip out a hydrangea standard because they thought it was dead. Because of the knowledge you’ve shared about pruning yours, I was able to stop them! I pointed out the little buds that were forming and showed them where to prune. 💁🏼‍♀️ All thanks to you! 😂 I look forward to your videos each day!

Fantastic that you were able to save the hydrangea! I'll never understand people who do anything to a plant without looking it up first - it takes seconds to Google something!

You are just like me and your husband like my husband. We are planting our newly done garden. I want to buy all kind of stuff imagining them to go here and there. But it's so hard to explain everything to my husband who wants to know exactly where everything would go or fit. And I am well "I will know when I put them in place".
However I am so thankful to him he is still helping without getting the idea what I wanna do believing my gardening skills ( learnt from you😊). Hopefully our garden comes along nicely.

Thats exactly what happened to me last late spring and summer. We planted a new garden after removing 16 sick red tip photinia's ( I hated those for so long, and I was so happy to see them go). I designed and planted the new garden... I am a planer sort of like Laura, but also it depend's what you can find at your local tree and garden center. I planted throughout our hot summer, got some very good sized plant's and tree's at discounted prices , and I love our new garden. Go for it! My husband love it too despite my luck of planing !

      @sarahthomas3149 4 года назад

Kim Miller I live in Townsville Australia. It’s pretty hot and humid all year. We can’t grow anything that needs a cold period. We do run into problems because the tropical plants love the wet season but can suffer in the dry season. We also have lots of drought tolerant plants but they can rot when we get a big wet season. Last year we had massive flooding. They had to drop the dam gate to stop it from bursting. Lots of plants rotted and uprooted.

Oh my gosh! I and my hubby are the same. In MY process of planning ,and it drives him nuts, he wants to know what, when, where and why. I usually plant marigolds with my crops and he asked if I could leave them out. 🤨. He doesn’t like the look. I get frustrated because I always have to explain myself why I want something a certain way. Even after 40 years of marriage. 🤪😄😄😄. That said he always loves what I do. 🥰 Laura our way of planning, in my humble opinion, adds mystery and FUN to the whole process. If I can’t have fun and enjoy what I’m doing, then I don’t want to do it. 😉👍. “ Keep calm and keep on gardening!”

Good choice on putting Foxgloves in shade/part shade. Bacause our last name is Fox, my Dad loved Foxgloves. 12 years after his passing, his Foxgloves are still coming up every year (reseeding themselves). They definitely do much better in shaded areas!!! I bought so many new varieties of Foxglove seeds this year in all different color & sizes & can't wait to see them when they bloom!!!
Also, love the double columbines! We used to have blue & pink ones come up every year, but we think our garden guy sprayed them not knowing what was weed & what was plant.🙄 So also throwing a ton of different Columbine seeds out this year too - including the double varieties!
Need to see if I can find that MiteEx in our garden stores! Once in a while we will have a problem w/ them. Used to be Dahlias, last year it was Petunias & Neem oil just was'nt doing it!!!🤨

It such a pleasure to watch you planting and getting things ready. I live on the west side of Michigan zone 5/6 and we really can’t start getting many plants in until mid May and all of our nurseries are closed due to the pandemic. We are in lock down/stay at home until April 30. Are you in lock down/stay at home? So, again this keeps me happy for now. Thank you

'Plan' to plant the columbines turned into something even more beautiful than 'planned'! Maybe planning is overrated. 💕

Sometimes I see new growth popping up and can't recall if it's a plant I want there or a weed. I'm getting better with some of them and recognizing more each year but I've had a few mishaps when I pulled out perennials thinking I was weeding. We learn as we grow, I suppose. Thanks for mentioning it when you noticed the hostas were in places you didn't realize.

I just found you several weeks ago and am learning SO MUCH. Thank you for all these wonderful tutorials--I've been busy out in my yard this spring and for the first time feel like I can create a beautiful garden myself! Question: How do you keep track of what projects you need to do on any given day? How do you plan your days, weeks, seasons? It seems like there is always so much to do!

I love love LOVE watching your channel. We just moved into a new home and the landscape is old and pretty much a blank slate. You give me so much inspiration but then I get overwhelmed with it all. You have such amazing talent and taste.... Do you ever give "suggestions" of what you would do?

I am with you Laura on starting out thinking where all my plants are going and then I end up putting them all somewhere else! Ha Ha. Nice to I am in good company like that... I split up 6 of my hosta last year and ended up with 20 extra pieces of hosta and just put them everywhere...I am finding them all over now too as I try to plant other plants! 😆

You could mark your hosta with little stakes when you cut them back. Perhaps that would save some time next year.

Coffee with Laura and some lovely plants is a great way to start the day. I am sad because I don't think we are going to have much of a garden this year at my work as our child development center has been closed and won't open until at least May 4th and I am not even sure about that so we shall just have to see. But we can still plan and make lists for things to get and all of these videos help with that! I can't wait to see the alum come up and I hope you are able to fix the fountain as it is such a pretty one. Love how you just scaled the fence so you could get the arb tied up!

You can also plant vinka around those irrigation boxes. They’ll stay accessible, but will be covered by vinka stems

Loved the video Laura. But I really wanted to comment on the video you all put up on the Highlights channel...peaceful rainy day in the garden. The footage was just so lovely and soothing. Did Aaron shoot all that video? I would love to see more like these! The mallard duck pair at the end was just icing on the cake. Just wonderful you too!

I’ve put decorative stepping stones or flagstone over the boxes. They’re super easy to move to get to the boxes and since they don’t necessarily create a pathway that will be walked on you can use the decorative ones with designs on them.

As you were talking about the irrigation boxes, I was thinking, just paint them like stepping stones. Before I finished the thought, you were talking about paining them.
Yes, black would probably be more practical than a stepping stone look. If black paint wears down after a couple of years, you just paint it black again. If you got too detailed in a "stepping stone" design, then upkeep would be more difficult. I still think a dragonfly or a frog design would look cute on a couple of them, but I am good at creating migraines for myself.

Aquilegia are beautiful! In Scotland, they tend to be targeted very heavily by aphids, but still worth growing, just need to have soapy liquid on standby permanently.. :)

I planted a couple fox gloves in my front bed where it's more morning sun and ample shade in the afternoon. They were in a greenhouse for awhile and I hope this is their year to bloom. I hope yours do well! I also think it's kinda funny when you plant new things and run across plants you've forgot. I do the same! I think your my sister from another mister! Lol

Hi Laura! I have been a fan for a couple years now and really enjoy watching your RUclips channel! You’re a talented hard worker and I totally relate to your garden creativity. I am a wine sales rep and recognized the name of your tulips, “Pinotage,” immediately. This is actually the name of a grape native to South Africa. It is pronounced PEE-noh-tahzh. That’s an A sound like you’re a fancy French person. 😆 It’s an interesting wine if you ever get to try it-some people love it, some people don’t, but it’s definitely worth a try as most producers now are making great quality wines! I’ve noticed Color Blends names some of their tulips after wines like Beaujolais and Chardonnay. Anyway, keep being awesome! Cheers!🍷🥂
