I appreciated how you separated depression from tired. It validates my resistance when other people labeled me as “depressed” but internally I knew that wasn’t right. I’m just exhausted from trying to meet neurotypical standards from within a neurodivergent body.

Yes myself as well I was in therapy looking for relief from 14 yrs of Treatment Resistant Depression, with fatigue being a large part and it was my psychologist that recognized Autism. Then with this I found the words around the fatigue and how exercise made me worse and my psychiatrist diagnosed ME/CFS. Yes there was a time of depression, but there was just before that of a really bad viral ( influenza). So it took years to have a HCP to look past the depressed label and see the physical and developmental aspects as well. To see the whole person. Very healing. And like you it is exhausting when trying to be someone you are not.

I find the purpose of my life to be the core who I am today - especially after having survived a serious suicide attempt. Right after it, I kept asking 'why am I still here? why was I still kept here?', I then moved in with my parents in Istanbul, and the answer came in the shape of cats. It was 3 am on a rainy stormy night, something woke up and made me go to the living room, I looked out the window and saw a completely soaked stray mother cat bringing her tiny newly born kittens into the cardboard box I had put out, completely by chance, in our garden. The mother cat then turned and looked at me, I had a strong sense she was thanking me but also telling me 'please help us', and it was a huge Aha moment.
From that moment, stray animals have been my purpose, my reason for waking up and pushing through the darkness, and exhaustion. Life is so exhausting, being autistic is extra tiring & lonely, I also suffer from fibromyalgia and chronic pain, so that's not fun either, but these animals are my life, their love is everything. I'm a loner, have few friends, Ive never been the popular one in any setting, but I don't care. These animals love me, and if they don't, I love them - all of them, and that makes me feel so happy.

My best skills and ability are working with horses, canines, and felines and like many others like ourselves the way to earn an income with these abilities is mute.
Our true nature is more easily recognized by the animals we tend than our culture. We must trust ourselves and the animals we tend as the bottom line of our worth.
I am glad you are still here among us. ☮

It is my understanding that autism is an integral part of human manifestation and consciousness. It has been overwhelmed by modernity and written language over the last 5000 years.
Being autistic is a useful characteristic in hunter gather societies and pre-modernity human tribes or bands.
That many of us with autism have difficulty may be less a problem with ourselves and more one with modernity and its fascination of interchangeable parts as its model.

    • @visionvixxen
      @visionvixxen 4 месяца назад

Yes but how do we “manifest” and actually functionally step into and stay in the thing we get… sustain it?
Also yes- it would be easier to live in nature with others- in rhythm… and simplicity.
Moving all the time… but anyway, we have not evolved ed to live in this. Another thing- this is complicated by aDD, because we need novelty also but another to help us manage novel situations- a person who understands and listens to our needs and helps us get them met … the novelty motivates and clears my head but then needing the structure… it’s so confusinf

Just went hard cleaning, helping my brother move in, and it was only four or five hours and I already need a nap though I would LOVE to keep helping and keep going. We really do exhaust much faster than other people no matter how much food and energy I start with, and in perfect health it often gets depleted so quickly. On the one hand I don't like that because I want to stay industrious. But on the other hand, I have what I need though not above my means, and still enjoy moments of life so deeply. It really does seem like for me, a strong onslaught of emotion often tires me out faster then even physical labor. I love learning more about our autistic brain and hearing discussions like yours on the matter. Thanks for sharing today!

Recently found out I am autistic ( just over one year ago) and easing away from “barrier bashing”.
I liked how you expressed and asked how this actively makes you feel and does it feed the soul, or am I doing this because think I should do this without help.
Asking for help is a difficult skill. And self imposed ableism is fatiguing.

Back with a second comment, my pre-autism awareness had me constantly pushing and crashing. Your timely video reminded me that it is OK and even a good thing to change plans or commitments.
I just found out my cats cancer has spread and have to make some decisions. Yet the old me would of not cancelled making my other big decision of buying a new computer. I would of tried to do both.
I think my past sense of not being good enough drove much of my life’s choices.
Already struggling with the decisions around a new computer, the old one is from 2012 and running on windows 7. And change is difficult. Yet now I know this can wait. And not be less of a person.

The testing for autism is biased and sexist. In time it will be shown that autism is prevalent equally in either sex as well as a self defined sexual preference. The over use of pronouns is a flaw in our current language.
Autism is a sole mark of humanism with no impartiality based on race, gender, religious or national orientation. ☮

I wish we could pray to have this end… the worst is not being able to “brain.” But not wanting to move or not being able to sleep. You’re just sort of in torture like someone having extended sleep paralysis.

    It’s nuts

I am myself (self diagnosed) autistic. Currently on the list for a diagnosis. I guide clients that are also autistic. A lot of my clients have this “ableist” mindset. They want to be able to do the same als NT people. How to guide them in that? Because I know that thats not going to happen. For them, it feels like they can’t grow, like they can’t accept it.

I hate this. I don’t care too much to die but there’s not point to existing. Wake up, survive, cry, unable to exercise, desperate for peace and a plan for the day week month year and none- eat sleep hope to wake up w some energy and focus with which to try to build/rebuild a life.
I’m fighting so hard to survive each day but waiting to check to the end of my life?!? Wish to come
Alive. Work again, run again. Ski. Even have friends be able to keep them or care to reconnect with them. I avoid them unless I’m feeling here. I hate this
