If you like my videos, you can support the channel here: www.buymeacoffee.com/akisherceg 🍕 Thank you! :)
Okay, I decided to make a supercut from all(well, not all, but most) of my footage taking down the Highland Ravager!
A little explanation: back when most of these footages were recorded(some of them are new, but most of them are old), most people said things like: "Mages are only good for crowd control." or "Warriors are just meat-shields" and "Only Rogues can take down dragons fast!".
So I set a goal for myself - an "Achievement" if you will.
I will kill the strongest dragon(with the JOH dlc, it's actually the second strongest, but that dragon fight has different stages where you can't hurt the dragon) in less than 2 minutes with every class. Two minutes seemed like a short enough time to call it a "quick boss fight" so that is why I went with that number.
I kept testing and testing different skills and combinations until I managed to create builds for mages and warriors(and of course for rogues, but that was easy) capable of destroying the dragon in under two minutes.
It was quite fun, so this video is basically just a reminder of those times. I hope you will enjoy it! :)

@@AKisHerceg I never played as a mage primarily so this playthrough trying mage in nightmare difficulty but confused between rift mage and KE? any suggestions?

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  3 года назад +9

The Rift Mage can be awesome for crowd control and it has the ability to regain its mana(it basically has infinite mana) thanks to its specialization. This is extremely useful, for a mage to cast powerful spells and tear enemies apart. As I said, the specialization also comes with excellent crowd control spells.
Knight Enchanter is a mage tank, who is nearly indestructible thanks to its passive ability to gain Barrier based on its damage. This will provide plenty of Barrier for it to go against almost any enemy and take them down without any health damage. The higher your damage, the more Barrier you gain, so you can go full offense with this mage(high damage) and still be an amazing tank.
If this is your first mage playthrough, then I recommend the Knight Encahter. It is safe, it is fun and it can deal a lot of damage if you spec it well. Try my Frost/Fire Crusader build, you won't regret it! :)

I'm making a DA fan game. Iwant the specs to be something like:
    WARRIOR
    Champion (+10strength/+20vitality)
Nearly all warriors seek to be the one in
control of the field. Large and in charge,
    champions specialize in being resilient
and are masters of crowd control. They
prevent hoards of enemies from reaching
their frailer allies as well as empowering
the party or intimidating the opposition
    through robust shouting.
    Reever (+20strength/+10dexterity)
These fierce fighters are keen on the
berserking nature of being a true warrior.
They enjoy seeking a destructive path
paved in blood. They sacrifice their own
blood to see their foes bleed more and
thus prefer a solo match. Though they fall
rather quickly in group combat, it is not
before they have done serious damage.
    Templar (+10vitality/+20wisdom)
Most warriors tend to prefer shrugging
hits of the physical variety. Templars
on the other hand sacrifice offense in
order to boast a fair resistance to magical
energies. They thus specialize in combat
    against supernatural forces and guarding
    the party from hostile magic.
    ROGUE
    Assassin (+20dexterity/+10cunning)
It is in every rogue's nature to go unnoticed
on the streets while some more
experienced rogues can slip in and out of
the shadows during combat or even in
    plain sight. Assassins specialize in
unsportsman like conduct and prefer to
    strike outside of initiated combat.
    Duelist (+10strength/+20cunning)
The rarer more disciplined rogues perceive
stealth as a last resort quaint idea that has
no place in the realm of fairness. A duelist
specializes in solo melee combat where
form and talent lead to victory. Their
reflexes border on supernatural and thus
    make for consistant counter attacks.
    Ranger (+10vitality/+10dex/+10cun)
    Rogues come equipt with immeasurable
prowess to scout out dangers to the party.
Among these are imposing beasts who
can be easily manipulated by illusion and
    sound. Rangers specialize in ranged
combat and prefer not to get up close and
personal with the enemy. Rather they call
upon wild beasts to fulfill that role.
    MAGE
    Warlock (+10vitality/+20intelligence)
Mages that specialize in the art of
    necromancy are among the most
forbidden, and for good reason. Warlocks
are sorcerers who specialize in raising the
dead from their well deserved slumber
only to have them fall again. They can also
use their powers for good by reviving
    and fortifying fallen allies.
Battlemage (Arcane Warrior) (+5 to all)
Very few mages, let alone warriors, can be
quite the threat of a battlemage. They are
    strong intellectual powerhouses capable
of wielding the heaviest of weapons and
armors while having the most dangerous
lethal spells at their disposal. Though they
fear mental depletion, scarse are those
who can stand in their way.
    Soulsword (+15strength/+15wisdom)
Underestimating a knight enchanter is one
    mistake many likely have regreted.
Soulswords syphon their life's work into
their blades. In addition to being a
    respectable melee presence, they are
    remarkable healers and enchanters. They
can support allies in a variety of ways.

    • @ПетърУанчелов
      @ПетърУанчелов 2 года назад

Mages need at least 2 ranged specs. There is no point to have 3 classes when there are only 2 ranged specs whithing them. In my opinion combine the soulsword and battlemage into one and make a druid class that functions like both shapeshifter and healer/support with some distinguished nature dmg spells or create an illusionist who creates clones of himself and teleports and messes with time or smh. Just be more original. DA classes and specs are great fundamentals but it would be cooler if you make your own spinn on your own game.

Full Draw after Leaping Shot, then re-active the upgraded Mark of Death used before the fight. Am I right?

      @AKisHerceg  3 года назад +2

Glad you picked it up again! :)
Depends: are you a flank attacker or a face-to-face archer? If flank then you need a Superb Dexterity(or Cunning if your crit chance is too low and you want to compensate for it) amulet. At least that is what I would pick. If you go face to face, then you want the Malika's Guard Amulet for a massive Attack and Dex boost for your rogue.
For belts, since there is not that much benefit from Guard/Resistance/being hit etc. belts on a rogue, I go for a Superb/Master Tonics Belt. This way I can have up to 7 or 8 Mighty Offense Tonic. :)

Actually, the tier lists I have seen regard Knight Enchanter very low, saying it not deal as much damage as Reaver or Rift Mage (Rogues are out of question). Even Champion is regard more highly than KE, ironically due to Champion's survivability (not sure about Champion's damage though).
Also, Flaming Array can be considered one of mage's biggest damage dealers, but this dragon has high resistance to it, so mage may be at disavantage here.

Especially on Nightmare/Trial difficulties. Warriors tend to fair best solo against nightmare bosses. But rule of thumb is, if you want something dead fast, nothing is faster than a Rogue. Pincushion Hail of Arrow Leaping Shot Artificers will kill a dragon faster than just about anything. Same with Pincushion Thousand Cut Throwing Blade Tempests with double daggers. Get Hidden Blade and Walking Bomb masterworks on your weapons/armor and you'll kill them in a second.

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  2 года назад +15

      Mark of Death happened. :)
It is a unique skill the Assassin has. It will gather all the damage you deal in 8 seconds and inflict it on the target again. With the Mark of Doom upgrade, it will increase your gathered damage with 50%. So whatever you dealt on the dragon cut it in half and add that half to the damage you inflicted.
So if you deal 100k damage on the dragon in 8 sec, you will inflict the whole 100k on the dragon again if you activate the mark causing 200k damage in total(minus its armor rating).
If you use the Mark of Doom upgrade, you will get an additional 50%(it will also ignore armor). So 100k+100k+50k = 250k damage on the dragon when you activate the mark. Possibly one of the most overpowered ability Bioware ever invented...

Im about to do a full trilogy run after playing dragons dogma nice to see vids are still being made for DAI. Personally something that always bothered me is that I feel that mages were the weakest that were ever displayed in this gameline by far. You compare that the last 2 titles it feels like there was a major fall off in power.

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  10 месяцев назад +4

Generally, I would agree, but it all depends on how you build them.
The Mage is by far the best CC/Support class - in fact that is what they are meant to do in Inquisition. In Origins and DA2 they were a bit more complex, but this is just the effect of streamlining(which I don't approve, but you roll with what you get). Also elemental damage is just not as high as physical due to resistances. This is actually consistent with the rest of the trilogy.
Even though Inquisition kind of changed mages a little bit and placed more focus on CC and Support, they are still great at dealing damage, if you know what you are doing.
Watch the resistances and exploit the weaknesses of your enemy. If they are strong against one element, they will be weak to its counterpart(borrowed straight from DA2). This is how you can deal 20k frost damage on a fire dragon. Use combos often - mages are the number one class for setting up combos as well. In fact, mages(Rift Mages specifically) are the only class who can actually perform every single type of combo in the game.
Mages are a class for the patient players. You can do phenomenal things with them, but you have to learn the mechanics a bit more. :)

    • @brandonbutler8778
      @brandonbutler8778 10 месяцев назад +1

@@AKisHerceg I agree with that. I think the streamlining of the games kind of kills the variety of choices and combos you could potentialy pull off. I just feel like the Mages got the short end of the stick in this game extra hard and I think these games favor mages pcs storywise but that may just be me. Something that really got underneath of my skin was how the elements got divided up Skyrim style and then you had the 1 support tree. Hell DA2 had Fire and Ice in 1 tree not 2. In DAO you could do spell combos for unique effects that would set off a few nukes( cloudkill and death hex or spellmight, tempest, blizzard, mana clash was an instakill on enemy mages). To see them now just kills me. I only ever really played Mages in the dragon age games bc of stuff like that and thats what I like, I'll take fireballs over crossbows any day. In a nutshell of the mage, KE excell more at outlasting the enemy than killing them almost immediately, same thing with Champion, though built right they can pump out some decent numbers, not rogue high but still good. As you said Rift Mage is by far the strongest cc spec for mages. I think Necro(hurts more bc its my fav) got screwed the most, yes they have some good burst spells but most of the other specs can do that just as well if not better. Im hoping with Dread Wolf around the corner we will see vast improvement to the mages in particular. Side note does the Virulent effect on walking bomb only target 1 dragon leg or does it spread to the others, Its been a few years now and I can't remember if it does or not.

Pretty backwards.

Thanks to certain abilities however, the damage becomes way over the top, so rogues end up being super overpowered against bosses.

@@khar8630 Yeah, it is overpowered because of the damage. :)
Everything in their skill tree synergizes with more damage - Dexterity gives more attack(more damage) and more Critical Damage. Cunning gives Critical Chance, so that you can have a higher chance to deal even more damage. With equipment you can stack your damage even higher.
Contrast this with the Warrior: Strenght is the source of damage for a Warrior, not Dex, so if you want decent Crit Damage, you need to invest in Dexterity - which you can only get from equipment. Same with Critical Chance. This is why a Warrior can never have the same damage as the rogue. Even a weak Archer Rogue will deal more damage than a fully specced Warrior. On the other hand, a Warrior has all kinds of skills to raise their survivability.
As far as survivability: just like you said - you have a masterwork that lets you have Guard on Hit. That is not available for a Rogue based on skills. They are designed to be squishy.

Infinite Guard and Barrier? Not sure what you mean by that.

Barrier: You can place the Barrier spell on you, or pick the Knight Enchanter specialization, which has a passive skill Fade Shield, which will generate Barrier based on how much damage you deal. There is also an amulet called Amulet of Barrier which has the same effect and can be equipped on Warriors and Rogues.
Guard: You can generate Guard with masterworks("Guard on hit"), skills like Livid, War Cry, Charging Bull, Shield Wall, Block and Slash, Challenge and Horn of Valor. The Champion specialization's Walking Fortress can also give you guard.

Flashpoint works in a wired way. It states in the description that your next ability won't trigger a cooldown, but this is not entirely true. It is more like "for the duration of Flashfire(it lasts for 1 sec after activating an ability) you can cast any spells indefinitely". Sadly in that one sec, only Energy Barrage can be cast multiple times, because Energy Barrage can interrupt its own animation. So you can squeeze in 3 EB during that one sec if you press the button keyed to EB fast enough. :)

I have seen some videos and posts on tier list of specializations. While I agree that Rogue are broken (no cooldown and infinite stamina), many seem to regard lowly of Knight Enchanter. They reasoned that while Knight Enchanter have good survivability, they are lacking in dealing damage so they cannot be compared to Rogue and Reaver (and even Rift Mage at some degree). Yet they think very highly of Champion due to it's survivability, regard it on the same tier as Reaver and Tempest. So how is Champion's capability of dishing out damage? What make it tier A while KE is tier B while both are specializations focusing on survival?
You have played through all of them, may you share your thought on it?

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Год назад +2

Champions are great at dealing single target damage because of the To the Death skill. Without it they are significantly behind Reavers and Templars. Sure, they can also spam Combat Roll, just like a Reaver and a Templar, but the other have high damage skills in their spec too.
I find it quite absurd that people would think that the KE has low damage, when it has access to the same high powered elemental skills as the Rift Mage or the Necro. The trick of proccing a Walking Bomb masterwork with a Fire Mine for colossal damage also works on them(in fact they can do the same with Decloaking Blast, if they upgrade Fade Cloak with it, which is the second highest damage spell in the game after Fire Mine, and along with Winter's Grasp on chilled targets). True, the spec is focusing on survival but that does not mean that you can't build them to be great damagers.
I think KE is great for damage and survival. You just have to build them properly.

Despite that, now I can see where the hype on Champion is from: the ability to make (a single) enemy to take more and more damage as time goes on while ignore their increased damage output due to Champion's tankiness.
Haiz, if only mages have the mean to recover mana like rogues and warriors when they crit. Being mage suck :(

What? Knight Enchanter doesnt have damage? It's superb single hit damage class, it's just gimmicky. The whole point not in the skills, rather passives there. You enabling gaining shields from damage, couple that with spirit tree bigger shield, then add shield converting to damage in fire tree - voila you can create biggest booms in the whole game. Againts anything that isnt immune to fire that is ;) (you shank dragons anyways).

@@ironzur2082 : This is talking about the comparison between player's class, not between player and mobs. Of course, every class sweeps in-game mobs, but which one is better and faster at doing so?
As I know, the boost from fire passive depend on the percent of the barrier consumed, not the value of the barrier, so bigger shield not only doesn't give more damage but also make it harder to reach max shield.
Beside that, mage's biggest hitter - Fire Mine - might have big multiplier number, but it has long cool down time. Compare to that, warrior class has a rolling skill which do good damage (500% despite the tooltips said 250%) with cool down of 2s. Mage can cast once and warrior can roll 5 times. Then there is also the fact that warrior's weapon damage is more than twice that of mage so 500% on warrior is more than 1000% on mage. Rogues are even more insane.

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  3 года назад +5

      It has many reasons. :)
First off, and this is just a personal thing, I love that it's a sword. Mages + swords are always a win for me.
But the gameplay aspect is this: Yes, it doubles the projectiles on Energy Barrage(this will pretty much makes EB one of your strongest spells), which means you can have multiple status effect on enemies as well - Winter's Grasp's upgrade the Winter's Ruin deals 1k% more damage on chilled enemies and Energy Barrage with cold a element is the best/easiest way to apply Chill. On top of this, if the blade is made of Lightning or has a lightning rune in it, it also applies shocked status effect which will increase your elemental damage even further. Fire will cause burning. So you can pick which status effects you wan to couple/play around with. Energy Barrage this way can also be a spell which ignores immunities, since one element will always deal damage even if enemies are immune to the other.
Since you can attack with it as a melee weapon, it is excellent to gain back large amounts of mana fast, if you can handle it in close range.
Its stats are also great: great attack boost, good crit chance boost and nice crit dmg.

    • @AKisHerceg

Depends on the build. Warriors and mages are fine with 40-50%, rogues need to have more around 70-75%. Which is not difficult with rogues, since they get attack and crit damage from Dexterity, so all you need is a little bit of Cunning or crit chance boost to reach 70+.

The Superior Skirmisher Hat from the Black Emporium 10 slots for cunning until you can get the Mask of the Grand Duchess via Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts by publicly exposing Florienne. The Ring of Slicing from Emporium gives 5% crit chance and 10% crit damage, so is the equivalent of an endgame ring. You can duplicate it with the chest glitch too, if you aren't against it.
If you use the either the Prismatic Greataxe or Chromatic Greatsword with Warrior, they hit twice, doubling your crit chance in theory. The
Greatsword has a higher damage stat but its autoattacks only do 50% physical damage and
100% random elemental damage, but the axe autos do 100% physical and 100% elemental. The sword has 12 leather slots for ice dragon hide to get 24% crit chance but neither has a grip or rune slot. So a two handed warrior can get 49-54% crit chance without cunning from quests but with the weapons, it is virtually at double for proccing crit cooldowns.
Hakkon's Wrath is the best crit chance bow in the game with 59% crit chance or 65% with a critical masterwork if you use 12 ice dragon hide and 20 great bear hide. With the hat and 2x ring of slicing, you can reach 84%-95% crit chance without cunning from passives or from
quests. An artificer can get 100% crit chance from 65% bow, 2x ring of slicing, crit passive and the mask without. Though, with decent crit chance, attack might be better.
Dual wield rogue only needs 50% crit chance because of a passive that doubles crit chance when flanking. Assassin has a passive that gives 100% crit when attacking from stealth too. Hakkon's Mercy and Coiled Strike have 12 offense leather slots ((utility slots are 0.57% offense slot) and barbarian rock crasher gives 16 virtual slots.
The Wrath of Lovias is the best staff for crit chance. You can get 39% crit chance without a crit masterwork. The Hilted Staff Grip can give 14% crit chance but it's a random drop so split staff grip is a second choice for 11% and found at Sulevin Keep merchant without the perks. The Masterwork Archon Staff Blade is also a random (the only good one I have) but you can get 11% crit damage and 16% attack on it. Masterwork Qunari staff blade is 2nd best but is randomly available at Sulevin with the Short List perk. Battlemage Staff Blade is a decent alterior and found with the split staff grip.
Flanking and crit damage tier 3 materials give 3% bonuses but there is no tier 4 material for flanking damage, though imbued tusket hide is tedious to farm it gives 3.5%. If the damage calculations calculate the same for both, then crit damage is better at higher critical chance but early game, flanking damage is better if you consistenly flank and easy to miss can be grabbed instantly. From my experience, both appear to be calculated at the same time so they give similar returns and you are gonna be
critically hitting more than flanking if you get noticed so crit damage is probably better. In either case, with 50% crit chance you should get dexterity on utility slots. Though, attack is probably better because it increases all your damage but its materials have lower values.

    • @ecthelionofthefountain3769
      @ecthelionofthefountain3769 5 месяцев назад +1

      Damage is calculated like this apparently. Final damage= (base * random (0.95 to 1.05) - armor * (1 - armor penetration)) * (ability multiplie * (1 + critical damage bonus + flanking bonus) * (1 + attack bonus + damage multiplier + type bonus) * (1 - magic resistance).
Both flanking and crit damage are calculated together. Though you will only have 50% crit when not flanking, you can still crit and when flanking, you will be 100% crit chance anyway and with the 3.5% crit damage vs 3% flanking bonus, you can reach a higher crit damage bonus.

This is giving me an idea for an RPG that’s about slaying dragons. Name: Reign of Dragons
Story: The Dragons have destroyed the human, elven, Dwarven, orcish, Cait Sith (humanoids with cat ears and tail), Kitsune (humanoids with fox ears and tail) and Velveteens (humanoids with rabbit ears) nations within the large continent of Generia. Only the last remnants of humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, Cait Sith, kitsune and velveteen have banded together to reclaim their lands from the vile dragons by slaying their 7 leaders that hold domain over their nations.
    Locations
    Human Field
    Elven Forest
    Orcish Desert
    Cait Sith tropics
    Kitsune island
    Velveteen coastland
    Dwarven Mountain (final level)
The gameplay is a lot similar to that of Shadow of the Colossus with the art design of Legend of Dragoon. There is the addition of enemies such as Wyverns, Dragonians, local wild life and the undead. There’s also the concept of romances in where the player gets to have a relationship with one of the companions that the main character travels with.
    The bosses
    Blue Dragon
    Green Dragon
    Red Dragon
    Purple Dragon
    Yellow Dragon
    White Dragon
    Black Dragon aka Final Boss
