As an Irishman I met a woman of the Haudenosaunee nation (more commonly known as Iroquois). We talked at length about our ancient cultures and I told her how I had always felt the Ancient culture of the Gaels and other Celtic peoples was very similar to that of the Northeastern tribes of North America (mayhaps other areas but my primary knowledge of Native American culture is of the Iroquois). And to my surprise she agreed and was versed quite well in both histories. Hurling being similar to Lacrosse, Iroquois matrilinear traditions being similar to that of the ancient Picts and of Celtic respect for women in general (Boudicca, Maeve, Brigid, Grace O'Malley, Scatha, etc) and the ancient pagan ways of the Celts and their reverence for nature, bodies of water, animism, etc. and the similar beliefs of the Native Americans. The Celts did not use standing structures as places of worship but instead designated specific places like lakes, tree groves and sacred hills as religious spots.
I wish it wasn't so but too many people don't understand what Paganism is. After years of disillusionment and pain brought on by modern organized religion and especially it's practitioners I've come to identify closer with Pagans than any other group.

As an Irishman I met a woman of the Haudenosaunee nation (more commonly known as Iroquois). We talked at length about our ancient cultures and I told her how I had always felt the Ancient culture of the Gaels and other Celtic peoples was very similar to that of the Northeastern tribes of North America (mayhaps other areas but my primary knowledge of Native American culture is of the Iroquois). And to my surprise she agreed and was versed quite well in both histories. Hurling being similar to Lacrosse, Iroquois matrilinear traditions being similar to that of the ancient Picts and of Celtic respect for women in general (Boudicca, Maeve, Brigid, Grace O'Malley, Scatha, etc) and the ancient pagan ways of the Celts and their reverence for nature, bodies of water, animism, etc. and the similar beliefs of the Native Americans. The Celts did not use standing structures as places of worship but instead designated specific places like lakes, tree groves and sacred hills as religious spots.
I wish it wasn't so but too many people don't understand what Paganism is.
After years of disillusionment and pain brought on by modern organized religion and especially it's practitioners I've come to identify closer with Pagans than any other group.

when I listen to this song makes me think of the elders, we’ve lost so many in our life in the past months due to covid-19 and other things. One thing my generation lacks is taking in what they tell us and teach us. ❤️ I’m one of many that respect and take in what elders do or tell me. I’ll always have respect for them their our back bones to our family’s 💯 forever cherish your elders and your family’s. You never know what can happen or when they can leave this world.

Thank you. I can't speak for all Native Americans but I'm Cherokee and I believe it's important to let go of any resentment towards the Europeans. Not saying we should forget about the past but we can rise above those times by showing kindness and having a mutual respect for one another. Love to you and your people as well.
We in Europe used to be "native". We used to be pagan, had love for nature. Capitalism, religion (abrahamic) and greed led us to first destroy Europe, then America.
