Speaking of Dexter Gordon, his solo on The End Of A Love Affair is my favorite horn solo of all time. It comes in around 1:26 on the tune. I know, I know, Cannonball's Love For Sale...

Even in the first 6 minutes such valuable content. I hope you don't mind me thinking of you as the top musical scientist, keeping content so interesting, not to mention you an incredibly great player, with great tone, and all so inspiring musicianship. Thank You sir-keeps me coming back !

I liked the Autumn Leaves examples. The motifs by themselves sounded good and even better with the connecting handles. Appreciate the work! Thanks, and also I learned something.

Wow Richie… thanks a lot for this great lesson! As always, a concept many Jazz teachers mention and encourage to use, but without structure, “just follow your fingers” approach, surely Beethoven didn’t do that… yet you dissect it, explain it and teach how to apply it, and voila! A beautiful solo appears as magic, but it is not magic, it is the structured tools you share here. Hope to apply this to the solos I am working on. See you soon!

This is really cool. I've been collecting bebop "hacks" for years but this really hits the spot. Now I hear it everywhere and hear it when I don't hear it. Using it judiciously makes lines much more coherent.

    Hi there all!
I'm a modestly proficient guitarist who doesn't read music. I want to embark on a bit more bebop. Could anyone tell me if Mr Zellon's Bebop Guitar Improv Lesson Book : A Comprehensive Guide to Jazz Improvisation, is appropriate for me please? I guess what I need to know, is whether it does or doesn't have a foundation on musical notation.
Many thanks if anyone can advise please 🙏 X

The workbook does have a foundation in notation but all the books also include TAB
