- In this episode, I review the upgraded Wotancraft Pilot series 3.5L and 2L camera/everyday carry bag. New clips, a new strap system, and possibly the perfect bag for shooters who like to go out with a minimalist camera setup.

What I saw was like 20% of the bag, 80% of your face. Just saying..
My face is worth 80%, just saying.
@errydm I know it's a year later but bigheadtaco has a better video showing more of the bags features and what can fit inside.
When you do these reviews, make sure you set your camera on the actual product - I see your face all the time, not the actual bag...
Fair point , thanks for the feedback. I typically show more b roll for in depth reviews and use the company’s website for quick and initial impressions.
Would you be able to put a Leica Q2 with attached lens hood in the 2l?
I think so Keith, pretty sure , but I’d double check with them on their Instagram to me 💯 sure.
I've been pausing and rewinding this video, trying to see the smallest possible bag to safely carry my mirrorless Nikon (Z7) and prime lens. I think it may have to be the 3.5, but I'd love to get away with the 2L. Thanks
I bought the 2l to basically use as a camera insert in a backpack and have a small one camera lens set up. The strap is just a bit too short for my bigger frame. Do you know if the 3.5 l has a longer strap? I have the og 7l and the strap is longer.
Just got mine in the mail. Absolutely disagree with the majority of these reviews. 99$ ish for these things? Nonsense. Should be $30.00, but who's going to ship it back to Taiwan..? I t would be worth $30. There's nothing special about the materials, it's run of the mill, middle of the road quality. A bit disappointed I couldn't find a RUclips review which discussed the true essence of this bag.
Sorry you feel that way, I really like mine.
@@LuskeyBowser I just got the 3.5l and while it’s super light, it also has very little padding compared to my Billingham and too expensive to return so I’ll just keep it if I want to travel light- I just have to be careful.
Just received the Pilot 7L. Very impressed with the build quality. Bag layout was well thought out. Holds two Leica M bodies with lenses attached and still has room inside for small stuff (extra rolls of film, spare battery). Delivery from factory to my door in 4 days!
Right on Ken, yes they are super fast we delivery and I'm so happy you like it!
Would you say with 2 M bodies with lenses attached there is enough room left for a 3rd lens? Thanks
@@mwales2112 Yes. Two M bodies with lens attached and room for a spare lens and film!!
@@kendono Thank you
Nice. It’s got a military sling style adjustment for the strap. I’ve actually adapted my MAGPUL rifle slings for use on my camera systems, because of the ease-of-use adjustment. Good to see a similar system being used on a camera bag. 😊
Cool bags Justin cool to watch ya new video over my morning coffee before I had into my office to do some editing from my 2022 photo classes in KL …😄
Nice Geoffrey, have a great day :).
Hi Justin. I love Wotancraft products & have been using many of their bags for the last 6-7 years. I like their “vintage” look & their products are well made with quality materials. The one step pull tab is very nice to adjust the shoulder strap. Best wishes.😊
Thanks for taking the time to comment Jeffrey. Yes, I love how they keep improving their classics , love the pull tab as well.
Like a lot of photographers I am always looking for the perfect bag, guess what? They don't exist put this one is pretty damn close. I have plenty of bags, Hex, Wandrd, Peak Design, Peter Mckinnon and a couple of Amazon specials. Some great bags but not exactly what I was looking for. Thats where the Wotancraft pilot 3.5L comes into the picture.
While I was looking for a minimal bag, I was concerned at 3.5L the bag would be too small. Turns out that this bag is perfect for almost all my daily carry camera needs. I carry a Fuji Xpro3, My xf 16-80mm zoom, a Voigtlander 23mm, and a xf 35 r wr. I also carry the usual cables and a couple spare batteries, all in 3.5L bag! Plus the bag looks great.
Hey Justin, I am also located in Vietnam. Could you tell me where you Hanoi did you order these bags? Or if you know a dealer in HCM? Thanks.
Hi Justin. I was wondering about your thoughts on storing & carrying the following camera body and four prime lenses using Wotancraft's 3.5 L sling bag.
1x Fujifilm X-T5;
1x XF 18 mm F1.4 lens;
1x XF 23 mm F1.4 lens (type 2);
1x XF 33 mm F1.4 lens;
1x XF 56 mm F1.2 lens (type 2);
Although, the hobbit travel pouches from Wotancraft was not reviewed in your video. I was wondering, would either the xs or s sized versions of these hobbit travel pouches able to store these prime lenses individually?
All the best to you from Perth, Western Australia.
Worth mentioning, I contacted Wotancraft to see if it was possible to order the new strap separately since I already have a Pilot 7L (which is absolutely my favorite bag, and which I decided to purchase originally with the help of your channel). According to them, the strap can be purchased by itself for $10 US, and they offered to add it to another order I already have in process. Not sure if they'd ship it as a standalone, since it doesn't appear on their site individually at the moment as far as I see - but for anyone who already has a Pilot, it's worth asking!
Can't wait to add this it to this stellar bag.
Can you do a review of the new sling pouch bag from a photographers point of view?
Just ordered a 7L :) Can't wait.
You’re going to love it :).
I wish it came in a 5L version, the 3.5L is a little too small & the 7L is a little too big. A 5L would hit that sweet spot in between.
Hey Justin. For this type of kit which size would you recommend : Digital M + 28 + 50 and sometimes a 75 (but not always).
Thanks for highlighting these new models Justin. Fuji shooter, own multiple Billingham & Domke's more often than not using their smaller sized options in the heat of Thailand. I like this 3.5L option size wise & the features you highlight - strap, buckle & slight weight saving. The price seems pretty reasonable for a quality bag, just have to get it when I'm back in the UK as I don't think they have a dealer in Thailand.
Great to see the world moving away from velcro and zippers. Plus Taiwan deserves lots of support.
Been trying to figure out if you put 2 straps on the 3.5l is it like a tiny backpack that would be perfect
Perfect. Been waiting for a smaller version since I'm a one lens one camera guy
You'll love it Marc, it's perfect for that setup.
Go with the 3.5L
Do you prefer the 2L or the 3.5L?
I love these bags. The pilot 7L still top of my list but these are super practical.
ooh, nice!
It certainly is :)
