I've been looking at a lot of UK new home tours (not sure why, lol, I'm in Canada and don't plan on moving) and your main floor plan is different than what I've seen so far. Typically, the kitchen and living room are flipped from what you have. I like your layout, bringing the shopping in on a wet day doesn't have you traipsing through the whole house.
Ah America!! Amazing, the houses look bloody huuuuge over there! Yeah I agree with the mess, nicer to have it on the tiles (easier to clean) but I do like a kitchen backing on to the garden sometimes too! Thanks so much for watching - we just did another house tour so check it out!

I've watched several British new-build home videos and I've noticed that every single one of the houses toured has radiators for heating. Are there any new-build British homes that don't have radiators? I ask because I (as you've probably figured out) am in a different country where the only buildings with radiators are about a century old. I've lived six decades, and I've never lived in a home with radiators (not even when I was a kid). It just seems as though they're sometimes very hard to plan a room around. But I do think your house is absolutely wonderful!

And I have lived in Chicago, which gets VERY cold in the winter, as you no doubt know. But except for one time when I was a kid and we visited my mother's friend who lived in a very old apartment (probably built before 1920), I've never seen a radiator in any American home. The hot air simply blows out of vents (sometimes up from the floor, sometimes vents up near the ceiling). In my home, I have what's called an HVAC, which blows both hot and cold depending on the thermostat setting. Anyway, yes, your home is FANTASTIC. LOVE it!

Have you considered removing your glass French doors and leaving it open so the doors don’t hit your sofa or reversing the way they open so they open into the kitchen or having bi folding concertina doors it’s crazy that the builders allowed not only double doors to open into your living room like that but also there’s another door into your hallway it’s as if they didn’t expect anyone to have a sofa
Great idea! The doors haven’t been on for a few years now actually - we took them off for that exact reason. (I think it’s in our updated house tour video) 😊
