  • One 2-stroke oil for all mix ratios! AND Free firewood supply - from roadside cleanup, logging, trimming, and cutting trees along the highway by the highway department. Here we use the Stihl MS261 to cut up some Maple rounds, haul them in the F350 (and Ford Ranger), and split them with the Split-Fire 3465 log splitter. #firewood #stihlms261 #logsplitter #logging
    You can order the Saber 2-stroke oil mix from Clovis Lubricants - designed for used at 100:1 ratio. Amsoil says you can also run this at 50:1 or 40:1, or 80:1, but there is no advantage to running at these other ratios. Clovis lubricants: www.clovislubri...

    We are fortunate to have enough trees on the property and along with neighbors so that I don’t have to go “searching” for firewood. I only burn campfires, but do that on most days of the year so I do enjoy a good supply of fuel. It’s great that you take the time to both clean up the environment and do things with your wife!
    Would like to hear about long term results of that 100:1 oil as that intrigues me. Also, love the split-fire…I have their chipper.

      The Split-Fire is amazing. As far as the 100:1 - so far, it's going great. I like that it doesn't have that typical 2-stroke smoke and smell.

    I like the idea of the Amsoil all in one. I may try it with Stihl and Troy ikt machines around. Subbed.

      Thanks for the sub! An Amsoil all-in-one is a great idea!

    It really is a double edged sword, the right of way for the power lines does need to be clear, but it looks ugly when they get finished. One of those "necessary evils" in life. Some wood tongs may help moving the rounds a little easier. At least maybe the smaller ones. Good job guys! Thanks for sharing, Chad and Jennifer. 🪵🪵🪵

      Even though it looks not as appealing here in the woodlands of PA, having the roadways clear does really help visibility when pulling out of the driveway, and along the sides of the roads as all our white-tail deer (and bears) are moving around more and more into the fall. Thanks for watching!

    It's not a bad score. On the waist, not bad at all, even for a bigger producer like me.

    I tied here in NE Kansas to do that road side firewood that I see some of y'all doing and got stopped by the law. Apparently someone has sued the highway department for them getting hurt cutting along the road and now it's not allowed, at least here near my home. I have been looking at a couple of trees that are possible for firewood, but not as close to home as I would prefer.

      I am glad that we do have access to this free wood! I do imagine there is some liability though. I did notice that they chipped up even some really big trees around here - perhaps to keep people from cutting them up, or perhaps just to avoid leaving a mess. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

    Saber is good stuff. I use Honda HP2 at 40:1 but I have heard good things about Saber as well. Just don't use any of the Stihl branded oils, they aren't very good especially at 50:1

    I agree with you on how the properties look after being cut. Good for you to not only clean it up but also putting the wood to good use. I especially like how you even cleaned up the cemetery. You two do great work together!

    Hey Chad, which bar do you have on your 261? Also, love Jennifer's sloth shirt!

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  Месяц назад +1

      I'm currently running the 18-inch bar. I have used the 16" and the 20" on it in the past - and found that the 18" is my favorite for everyday bucking and cutting.

    Are you mixing gas/oil 100:1? I’m sure it’s good for that…theoretically… and I’m sure many mix at that with no problems. I. just. can’t. I use 50:1 oil, which seems high, that I probably mix at ~45:1 (shorting the gas). The plugs don’t foul and there’s still no smoke to keep the bugs away. If oil is good for 100:1, why wouldn’t mixing it 50:1 be twice as better for cylinder and rings? For pennies. (Plus they’d sell more Amsoil)

      Great question - we're likely going to stockpile as much as possible for now, to make sure we have enough for ourselves to heat our house for the next few winters.

    Do you ever think that the cap to the ranger limits you from using it for as many “real truck purposes”?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  Месяц назад

      I would say that the benefits of having the cap on this truck, far outweigh any negatives - especially since I also have the F350 without a cap for hauling anything tall. For my daily driver use - the Ranger with the cap is great. It keeps anything I haul from getting rained on, snowed on, or sitting in the Sun all day. If I need to haul the quad or dirt bike or something taller/bigger than will fit in the Ranger, I either use the F350, or the trailer.
