Fantastic DIY Blake. I just purchased a 2018 slightly used s3 and this covered everything 100%. Im a bmw guy/owner and this is lightly different on the bottom end with that little drain plug tool being needed. Thanks so much
I've been looking at a3s and then I found out Audi sucks out the oil , I was almost going to back off but looks like a cheap tool is all that's needed. Sweet
Joshuabrutl not true I have 2016 A3 sline sport and had 2012 a4 2.0t quattro with 245k miles did not take any oil. The old engines prior to 2010 had issues. New engines are great.
Awesome DIY video for changing the oil Blake! I have a 2015 S3 and just paid $350 for its 55k service which was oil change and filters. I now know what to do at 65k! Many thanks. If you need a video idea... one for changing the spark plugs would be very informative too! #WrenchOn
You use oil 5W40 while Audi recommendation is 0W20. I put Ravenol SMP 5W30 to my Audi A4 b9 2.0TFSi according to Audi’s 50400. What do you think about putting 0W20 oil that Audi put in each car during service time? Thank you in advance for your answer. Best regards, Jacek
You Wish Thanks. I spoke to my colleague from Audi dealer and he said it was European Union emission reduction bullshit to introduce this oil 0W20. Your engine can last only 200k kilometres using 0W20 or even less. 🙈🙈🙈
@@waleryx Please don‘t use 0W20. Under high temperature it can be very dangerous to destroy your engine because the oil becomes like water and doesn‘t lubricate your cylinders anymore. Better use 5W30 or 5W40 for turbo engines that get pretty hot. Also 0W40 is good if you live in cold places.
Great vid! I just ordered some Ravenol for my M4. Very high-quality PAO oil. I'm currently using Redline but I recently learned about Ravenol and am quite impressed with the spec sheets, especially for the 0W- grades.
I ordered Ravenol RCS 5W40 for my M4. Lots of highspeed runs on german autobahn will be stressful for the oil so I read on forums and this oil got lots of compliments from race drivers and other tuned turbo BMW drivers👌🏼
I always like watching your videos because I can learn a lot from how prepared and well thought-out your installs/maintenance videos are. Have any experience with rebuilding calipers? I think I have a sticking right rear. I bought a two pack of the seal kit and bought my own caliper tool.
If the callipers are leaking or boots torn it could be good to rebuild. If it's sticking, there's a chance that you will need a whole calliper anyway. If it's not too expensive a remanufactured item will be faster and easier to do.
Blake, I have a 2018 S3. When I looked on the link for the plugs I got the red box that says they do not fit the vehicle? Did you have a issues with the fit? The only plugs that I get the green box are the Dorman plugs.... I can't even find and OEM ones on Amazon.
Stupid question but how do you lift the car? I have a 3-ton jack and I kinda know where it needs to go, but the car is too low for me to look under and place it correctly.
I like it for the quickness and lack of spilling anything but I feel that it can leave old things in your pan that would be flushed out the old fashion way.
Looking to buy a 2015 A3 1.8T with about 50k miles. Is there anything to beware of in terms of costs for this year and have any of you had good experiences with this year and model? Feedback appreciated (:
I’m confused so how many bottles of 1L do I need to do the transmission and isit just 1 bottle for the haldex ? Theeeeeen I need just under 6L for the engine?
Nicely done and very useful :) Couple of things I'd have added. Turn the oil can 180 to 90 degrees from the way you had it and you can get it to pour without "glugging" Warm the engine for a couple of minutes first as the oil will flow out faster when warm. (warm not hot. No need to burn yourself) Put 200-500ml of clean oil through the engine while the sump plug is still out. Basically rinsing the drain holes and sump with fresh oil.
For the audi a3 if you were to do a oil change yourself, due to the warning message come up. Would you need a computer to let the car know the oil has been changed Thanks

Hi Blake, i got a 2016 s3 and every 2 months or so the low oil engine light comes on and I have to add about a quarter of oil. Any idea what it could be?
Z S Hi, i took it to the dealer for service, they didn’t see any leaks but told me it was normal for these engines to need a quart of oil every 3000 miles or so. I’m using castrol edge synthetic 5w 40.
Blake's Garage through MMI but I bought a dipstick anyway. It takes about 2 min of engine run time before it can take a measurement. The worst part was the hood latch issue on the b8 (my car included) that wouldn't reset the oil measurement after filling up your engine with oil. People ended up overfilling their engines because the MMI would say the oil is low.

Around there depending on if I track it. Then sooner.
So, for the new 2018 Ford Mustang GT, which Ravenol would you recommend? VFE, FO, SFE?
Have you try to use a Futomo drain valve to make your life easier?
I know most cars the oil change due is about 3 month 3000mils but why is the Audi shows 10000 miles isn’t that too long of a wait?
Bro hold the oil bottles horizontally not vertically, that way you get less recoil when the air re-enters
Hey blake i did same steps as you but car telling turn off engine low oil presser any idea why
Not sure sounds like you got low pressure. Did you add enough oil? Are you sure it’s not Low oil level? Did it say anything before?
Great tutorial! One question tho do you use premium gas or regular please get back to me idk what to put in my Audi A4
Premium always, check your gas cap and owner manual.
My S3 has never seen anything less than premium. It has sensors to use lower fuel grades but you will get poor gas mileage and loss in HP.
I appreciate all the info. Subscribed.
