  • Dhigurah (which means Long Island in Dhivehi) is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives + was voted in the world's 50 best beaches!
This unique inhabited island, located in the South Ari Atoll, is a favourite by tourists and locals because of it's:
    - big blue lagoon
    - direct access to Manta Rays + Whale Sharks
    - house reef filled with tropical fish, turtles + even small sharks
    - amazing dive schools
    - island length (super clean!) bikini beach
    - excellent affordable guesthouses + hotels
    - endless sand bank
Dhigurah is 3.2km long + on average 180m wide, with the most unbelievable sand bank at the south end of the island.
To get to the sand bank you can take a walk down the beach, or borrow a bike to ride through the jungle!
If you're a lover of candy floss skies (I mean who isn't?!), you'll enjoy being able to see a perfect ocean sunrise + sunset from each side of the island, just a 100m walk apart.
Some activities you can do while visiting Dhigurah are:
    - fishing (+ BBQ'ing your catch of the day for dinner!)
    - snorkelling + diving
    - romantic dinner on the sand bank
    - take a day trip to a neighbouring resort island
    - water sports - jet ski / paddle boarding / kayaking
    - cooking with the locals
This magical Maldives island is a true paradise.
If you only visit one local island in the Maldives, we can't recommend Dhigurah enough!

Great video, especially that opening shot. Did you have any issues with bringing the drone into the country? Are they more relaxed about it on Dhigurah since it's a local island? Thanks

I was there for 7 days & I loved it, The sea is to die for but it was very hot, I wasn't able to drink alcohol as you are not allowed to on this beach, but it was okay. Nice footage 🙂👍

I have a question how does it look with the bathing on the island there are really so many not bathing zones? And how about cleanliness and garbage burning ?

I think there are at least 2 maybe 3 Dedicated places that you can go to on the island and it's OK to swim there, I did not smell any garbage or see large amounts of it being burnt and clouds of smoke over the island When I was there. It's a bit shabby in some places and there is building and construction work going on that you can hear From Time to time. No nightclubs bars or restaurants apart from the hotel you may stay in where you can eat in the evening. People liveing there are friendly but generally keep to themselves. I use the American US Dollar to pay for everything while I was there.
