At first I was going to get an Air, but after watching yours, and some other reviews, I realized the 10.2 is all I really need, and at a significant savings. If I ever decide I need the iPad to function more like a lap top there are plenty of third party keyboard solutions out there for about 1/3 the cost of Apple's. In making my decision I was reminded of an old saying...don't use a sledge hammer to drive a tack. I'm upgrading from a 3.5 year old Mini 2, only because Apple will not update it to OS 13 and my needs now demand a larger screen. The Mini has served me well, and I'm expecting the 10.2 will deliver just as much satisfaction, if not more.
I’m still using the iPad Air 2 I’ve had since launch. I’d spend the extra $ now for the new Air after this refresh. And really I’m only upgrading for more storage and pencil support. I was waiting to see what this iPad update would bring and yeah I’ll pay that little extra now for better chipset that will serve me longer

I ordered this Ipad just so I could facetime with my nephews and my sister. And I was tired of looking at videos on my small phone screen as well, so 10.2 will fit me perfectly. I got the 128gb in case I take photos but the more storage the better. Thank you for the review! Best review so far!

I love it, my first iPad and it does everything I need. Hopefully Apple keeps making it more like a MacBook replacement.

I just bought mine at Best Buy today. I have an iPad Mini 5th gen and drawing on it was too small for me. So I gave it to my daughter to have. Same with you, non laminated display is no biggie for me either.
Hikikimori i was thinking of going to 12.9 in iPad Pro for drawing and other software that may need the bigger screen. I have in a box unopened iPad 10.2 in with 256 megabytes and debating whether to open it or find a 12.9 inch and go ahead and buy that. I got this through my phone service so it has Wi-Fi and cellular and got it on sale for $320 with monthly payments if I want so just wondering if this is a good deal or if I should go with the larger screen and pay $900 more

I love this iPad. I bought an Apple Pencil and I think it’s been a wonderful “laptop replacement” lately. It does everything I need it to do.
I got my for $200 in may and the seller included a speck cover and the bestbuy receipt where he purchased. It was just after the start of covid-19, and he needed money, so he had the add on craiglist.
I bought right away because of the low price. I have a old iPad Air and I use mostly my iMac.

@@ProfessionalRambler1 32gb is way more than enough and I record video on it a lot. With tablets you need to eventually transfer the files off to the laptop regardless of size anyways to clean up. You can also just get a USB A adapter to store on flash drive or get a flash drive with lightning connector.

I have the 2018 9.7 inch iPad. It's been great, but iOS is so restrictive. Plus the aspect ratio of the screen is not the best if you watch a lot of videos on it (huge black bars on top and bottom). Picked up a Samsung tablet on black Friday. Now the iPad can be the kid tablet in my house.
The only real restriction, having no file browser, is now gone. I suppose if I only watched films and television I'd prefer the 16:10 of my Android tablet, but for everything else 4:3 is better. The other problem with Android is that the manufacturers abandon supporting them almost as soon as they're released.
I bought the 10.2 iPad in January. Now, after a year I’m still learning how to use it.

I feel better about purchasing one now. I was undecided because people have said it's a waste of money but for what you get it seems totally worth it to me. Some people really don't have legitimate reasons to justify buying the pro, especially when I can get a great experience out of the 7th gen.

After 2 years of using 6th gen. iPad I must say that only bottleneck that iPad has is lower ram, which can be annoying. So with this iPad having 3 gig, it must feel sufficient, though not worth upgrading for me.
I got this ipad for online class and I haven't used my laptop in a very long time now. I also draw a lot so I bought the pencil and use procreate. I use it for taking notes too. For the keyboard I just got the Logitech K380 keyboard since its cheaper + i can use it on other devices + it looks better on my desk.
I dont mind the 32 GB since I use cloud storage for files.
Really great for artists who dont work on huge files and students.

I for one never thought I would buy an apple product. I bought the lenovo ideapad/chromebook and then returned it and spent the extra $28 dollars and bought ipad 7th gen and absolutely love it. Still not getting iphone. Lol

I got it and returned it because the display quality is subpar. My brother has a Samsung tablet and it blows this out of the water. I definitely want to try and get another ipad but probably the iPad Air 3 or the pro 2018 to get a better upgrade from my 8 year old iPad 4. Although good price of 250 I felt like I wasn't getting my money's worth- outdated chip that is not future proof, display not as amazing, minimum storage, no laminated display ... I have an iPad 4 and I've had it for 8 years so I want something that will last longer I usually keep my devices for a long time. Mind you the quality on my old iPad looked better than the new iPad for some reason.
I got the 32gb before the 128gb version went on sale but I always planned on using Google Drive to download and store documents on my MacBook and my external hard drive which is 4tb. Not worried about space since this iPad will mainly be used for school

Do you think an A10 chip is worth the savings? I mean, I would like my iPad to last long, but also I don't need to use it for hard work.
It will get iPadOS 14 and probably at least v15 as well. So you're good for updates for 2 years. Have to compare the prices to see what makes sense. For me an Air 256Gb is about 60% more expensive. I can put the difference into my savings and get an even newer model in 3 years time. Or longer if Apple releases v16 for it as well. They've also become quite good at trying to keep older devices running well on newer software. But I'm also not entirely decided.
A macbook wouldve been to much for what i do daily. I got this on black friday for 239$ with a keyboard case and its such a great combo for basic things! Absolutely a good Investment if you dont need crazy specs.

Best deal on a new iPad, and plenty of capabilities for 90% of consumer users. Get the 128GB and have plenty of storage for pictures and videos as a backup to your phones pictures and video library without using a free or paying for some cloud storage.

I have been using iPad 10.2 for almost a month. The back of the iPad is a bit slippery and got scratches after some time. To protect it I ordered a full body screen protector from gadgetshieldz.

@@TrickyPJM752 bro MID RANGE phones have 6GB of RAM on average now, stop talking out of your ass. 5 years ago PREMIUM phones had 2GB ram. We have no clue if 3GB RAM will be enough in 5 years, even in an iOS device.
OP 8Z Not logical if you think about it. Over the years, while Apple may lacklustre spec wise, their iOS software is very well optimised. Personally, I don’t see why they would use up that much resources on their os if the resources on their devices could be used else where.
@@op8ztv Apple's current top of the range phone has 4Gb. The most expensive iPad has 6Gb. They don't throw in huge amounts of RAM and they don't need to. iOS is not a resource hog like Android. Only recently did 2Gb become too little for iOS. iPadOS is only this year dropping support for the iPad Air 2, released in 2014.
Same goes for processor speed and cores. iOS and iPadOS are made specifically for the devices on which they run and their design is different, so they're simply far more efficient than Android.
So yes, it is quite plausible that this iPad model could get another 3 years of support.
I would buy this to takes university notes with the Pencil and for various streaming, but I'm afraid it wont be supported for long. I know, A10 chip works very well, but it already has 4 years, how many ios versions and new waves of apps could it handle?
It will get iPadOS 14 this year and definitely iPadOS 15 next year. Quite possibly v16 the year after too. And Apple has been putting effort into making sure the software runs well on older hardware. Most apps don't get significantly more demanding. Mostly games.

I've had an iPad 4 for over 7 years and I'm typing this right now on it, it's still great and works fine but I'm finally gonna upgrade to the 10.2. It's just slow and sooo old and it last update was IOS 10.3.3😩😭

I’m interested in this iPad because I take a lot of notes for my work. I’m hoping I could live in a world with fewer yellow legal pads scattered across my desk! How does that work? Can I write notes and send pdf version to my email? Can I convert my handwriting to text? Can I insert text from another source onto my note page? Can I view two apps at once side by side?
I’m really debating on getting this or the Air 3. I’m trying to do drawing digitally (despite me can’t really draw) but Air 3 is just out of my budget range and still without the apple pencil. So why don’t I go for 7th gen 128 gb with apple pencil. Still a lot cheaper that Air 3 without pencil.
