Every video I watch covering Double Dash just strengthens the urge for me to make a financially irresponsible decision and get the game so I can make my own video on it. It'll happen one day I'm sure, just as I'm sure you'll eventually join us on the right side of history on Moonview.
A problem I've noticed with the special cup as a whole is that it is either an incredible time or its just mid like 64 and 7 are the cure to insomnia and dd is Miyamoto's gift to man kind
I love how everyone-friendly Mario Kart is in general. Normies can have fun and still rank fairly high with items. But true experts can also pull out all the hard things the game allows you to do, and get actually strategic with items.
Ok, I guess I should clarify this since I couldn't in the live stream. In my tier list on the discord, I didn't place Super Circuit at the 2° to bottom of my list, I placed 64 :v. They are just so similar icons that you mix both. I wanted to make that clear. Otherwise... Yeah I mean, what do you want me to say? Fantastic editing, Fantastic explanations, Fantastic jokes. This video is really well put together, and I enjoyed it a lot. Another W for the Sir Musty video selection. Nothing new, but also nothing that anyone will ever complain about 😄.
I don't think 8's Rainbow Road is the best sendoff to the game, but honestly I don't think it's supposed to be. How I see it is that, back when there were only 8 cups in Mario Kart 8, the track selection was going to end off with N64 Rainbow Road, which is WAY more of a swan song to Mario Kart 8, Wii U Rainbow Road in comparison serves more as a middle-of-the-game test of skill and when I look at it like that I think it does that job really well. Also the space station theming is a nice change of pace from the other floating roads in space we've seen before, and in my eyes, sets it apart from the other Rainbow Roads really well. Also Moonview Highway is peak ok goodbye
Wii’s Special Cup is typically the one that seems easy to you when you haven’t played it for quite a while, but then, you replay it, and it just kicks your *grass*.
I’m really glad to see the Super Mario Kart Special Cup getting some credit. I think it fully capitalizes on SMK having 5 tracks per cup considering Donut Plains 3, Ghost Valley 3 and Rainbow Road are amongst the hardest tracks in the series, and in between those hard tracks are Koopa Beach 2 and Vanilla Lake 2, while not the easiest in the world, still gives a nice break between the harder ones. The cup definitely could’ve been better by having Bowser Castle 3 instead of Koopa Beach 2, and in the end it's still Super Mario Kart, but with what they had they almost made it as good as it possibly could've been. As for the Super Circuit Special Cup, while I personally prefer Wii’s Special Cup by bit, I still think this is by far the second best one in the series. Kind of doing the SMK route by having harder versions of previous tracks like Lakeside/Riverside, Broken Pier/Boo Lake and BC 4/BC 1-3. Like you mentioned, I really like how unique the obstacles are in this cup, with the lava boulders, the latching Boos, the Mecha Koopas and the falling stars. All the tracks in the cup are super fun and really put your Super Circuit skills to the test. Also helps that the cup has in my opinion the best Rainbow Road and probably the best Bowser Castle too.
I watched Albert Boris mario kart 7 track rankings and thought “how could she do this my favourite track in all the series?! Seymour the house has exploded” and then I realise “oh another DK Jungle, the inferior version of Rosalinas ice world (I like the 8 version, not the 7 version and I actually have reasoning for it), and an ok Bowsers castle. 7 RR is that good though that I will happily suffer the other 3 tracks to get to my number 1 track in the series.
I think DS rainbow road is very much a vibes track, similar to how you discussed Bowser castle in 64. It’s got a very ethereal vibe almost like the 64 rainbow road but it’s actually a decent length. It’s got some spectacle elements but to me it’s always been the more somber take on the music and the sparse yet evoking background that does it for me. I am biased cause I grew up with this game but I always loved finishing the special cup and going from this thoughtful rainbow road and then finishing off with the surprisingly emotional credits, it was a one two punch for the feels
Very based of you Musty for putting GBA at the top. I've only played 4 Mario Kart games (SMK, 64, Super Circuit and Tour) and, of the 3 special cups I've experienced, 64's is fun with friends but Super Circuit's objectively the best
As a zoomer mk7’s special cup is my least favorite special cup (not including the snes tracks in super circuit) cause all it has is 3ds Rainbow Road which is the definition of carrying
My one sentence about rainbow road: Rainbow Road from Mario Kart Wii is an incredibly astounding masterpiece of a track with incredibly varied, difficult and engaging obstacles, but 3DS's is still a bit better
I really really like 7’s special cup. DK jungle is a good hard track, Rosalina’s Ice world is very special in its own way, with the nice relaxing music and visuals. Bowsers castle is small yet sweet with great music. And Rainbow Road is the best course in the whole series by far.
I'll admit I was upset Super Mario Kart's was above 7's, but at the same time there were 2 tracks in Super's I'd rank in B Tier, so for that game's standards, yeah, it deserves it
i disagree a bit on 7's special cup being too low as the worlds only fan of rosalina's ice world id probably put it in like high c low b at best the rest are spot on i would salute to super circuits special cup any day of the week
Do you prefer the Original Donut Plains 3, or it's remake? From what I can tell in it's base game, is that it serves as an effective entrance to the hardest courses of the game such as dealing with moles if you drift too far outward or the quick turns you have to make after doing the hairpin that seemed to be lost in translation when it was remade for a game with general better control
I miss the stream due to having a Final exam during the day of the stream but this is a fun video outside of 8 Special Cup being to High and DS and 7 Special Cup are to low
Certainly no bias here at all. Obviously, top 2 is either wii or gba, but gba does win here objectively. Each track in gba has something to offer at the same time being unique in aesthetics and gameplay. Maybe except broken pier, that's definitely the weakest of the 4. Wii special tracks are the same old same old but innovative in execution. Dry dry ruins= desert again but temple now, moonview= city again but speedy now, and wii Bowser castle= a lesser bc4. Both rainbow roads are peak fiction, so yea gba wins
I alwaya I like GBA special cup and in my personal opinion it the only special cup where there no C tier track even my 2nd favorite have a C tier Track. 2nd is Super Mario Kart. Since it is the same reason I love the Difficuiy that Gba Special Cup have. But, it has to take 2nd place due to Vanilla Lake 2, which is C tier..
The issue with 7’s special cup is that Rosalinas ice world is so weird to me because what does this have to do with Rosalina do something INTERESTING put us in the commet observatory or something and with Bowsers Castle its a disgrace to modern bowsers castles. When a Snes remake of Bowsers Castle is better then a 3DS bowsers castle then theres a big problem
Banshee Boardwalk slander is to me what Grumble Volcano praise is to you. Initially I thought the Special Cup ranking was just a huge setup for some more Super Circuit glazing by the Final Boss of Super Circuit fans, but the more I've thought about it I honestly can't find a reason to disagree to that sentiment. GCN's and GBA's Special cups are tied for me as the two best ones, but SC's line-up has better trajectory of both quality and enjoyability than DD's (GBA's A-A-S-S to GCN's S-A-A-S).
is there anything about the game design that makes you believe that? its seems to me that Nintendo overtuned it in this game and as a result, dialled it back when it returned for the BCP
@@Sir_Musty when we look at moonview highway we see that you have to go to the side to not get hit this makes the Strat about risk go to the side or front run the game. With BCP and Toad’s Turnpike for that matter they nerfed the cars possibly for little Timmy. But that’s just how I see it I could be totally wrong. But a great example of another track that forces u to play different or at least tried is Yoshi valley forcing you to consider what path you take even though they failed
I in fact am waking up to play Wario Stadium thank you very much Edit: with that said, I can't deny what you said about DS Rainbow Road. I want to hype it up so badly, but frankly, I'm just playing it to hear the music 😂
Here are my ranking of all Special Cups C-Tier 8. SNES Special Cup 7. DS Special Cup B-Tier 6. Wii U Special Cup A-Tier 5. N64 Special Cup 4. 3DS Special Cup S-Tier 3. GBA Special Cup 2. GCN Special Cup 1. Wii Special Cup

considering it only has 1 track out of 4 i like, D is about right - i elaborate more on each of in my MK7 Rankings separately but here as a team? They better get used to the D tier life
My ranking: 8) Super Mario Kart. Yeah that wasn't a contest. none of those tracks are awful, but none of them stand out either. Koopa Beach 2 and Vanilla Lake 2 have some interesting jump mechanics, but deep down, they're still circles. Ghost Valley 3 and Donut Plains 3 are difficult and good, but when you get the hang of it, it's not that hard, and it honestly becomes forgettable. Rainbow Road is good though. 7) Mario Kart 8. How did they screw up their grand finale so badly after this banger Star Cup? Yeah, Cloudtop Cruise is amazing with a fun layout and an epic theme, but the three other tracks are just...what? Bone-Dry Dunes is tolerable, but it's way too generic for the Special Cup. Honestly, they should have just used this theme for the ending track of the Mushroom Cup to have the Thwomp Ruins theme used for the 2nd Special Cup track. Despite having banger music, Bowser's Castle is just way too messy in its scenery to the point that it isn't fun anymore, because the layout doesn't stand out very much. And Rainbow Road is very underwhelming and just forgettable with a theme that doesn't feel magical. It's just a discount Wii Rainbow Road. 6) Mario Kart 64. A bit more mid, this time. DK's Jungle Parkway is very underrated with a soothing orange skybox, and a gorgeous color palette. Yoshi Valley has a very innovative idea that allows for races that can be super chaotic and fun. Banshee Boardwalk has a fun and difficult layout, but is really carried by a very creepy and ominous atmosphere with a scary part in a ruined chapel. The weak link in this cup is definitely Rainbow Road. It's super long, and not engaging. The track is surrounded by guardrails, making it WAY too easy. The rest of this cup is good though. 5) Mario Kart Super Circuit: A good Special Cup! Lakeside Park has a fun and engaging layout with many twisty turns and an unforgiving trap ramp. The volcano mechanic is also a great idea. Broken Pier is a bit more forgettable and could have used a more interesting theme to stand out from Boo Lake, but the bridge shortcuts are fun and the skybox is still kingly. Bowser Castle 4 is the best one from the GBA, with a fun layout and that peak music, as always. And Rainbow Road is super fun with an epic music. These shortcuts are just so satisfying and exciting to take. 4) Mario Kart 7. A goodass one. DK Jungle is cool with a fun layout, beautiful scenery, and catchy music. Rosalina's Ice World is an underrated gem with such a nice, melancholic music, and a soothing atmosphere that really carries this track. Rainbow Road may be overrated, but with the memorable planet sections, the dramatic music, and that incredible glider section, it's still an enjoyable track in its own right. What drags this cup down is Bowser's Castle. It's too messy in its scenery and kinda forgettable. 3) Mario Kart DS. Wario Stadium is a goodass track with a fun layout, peak music, and a great ramp gimmick. Peach Gardens is a gorgeous track with a really fun layout. Bowser Castle is one of the best tracks in this archetype with a fun layout and a constantly dangerous atmosphere. And Rainbow Road is the second best one, with a fun layout, a great loop-de-loop gimmick, and magical music. 2) Mario Kart Double Dash!! We have Wario Colosseum, a top 10 track with an incredible layout, then Dino Dino Jungle, that has an incredible theme, varied obstacles, and beautiful scenery. It ends with Rainbow Road, that has epic music, a gorgeous color palette, a memorable trampoline section, and a fun and difficult layout. Bowser's Castle is a bit more vanilla as too much sections don't really do anything and end up being forgettable, but still good! 1) Mario Kart Wii. Best cup ever. It just keeps getting better and better. One of the best desert tracks with cool music and a great pyramid section, a great traffic track with a snazzy music and a soothing but upbeat atmosphere at the same time, the second best Bowser's Castle with a hopeless atmosphere and a fun layout, and Wii Rainbow Road, which is the best track ever thanks to its engaging layout, epic music, and outrageous difficulty. Just...everything is perfect in this cup where the MKWii team just gave it their all.
My rankings and one line of reasoning: 1. Wii (Zero low point, yes Moonview is peak) 2. Double Dash (Not as peak as Wii’s, but still fantastic) 3. DS (One low point in Wario Middium, but the rest of it is phenomenal, and we love Peach Gardens) 4. 8 (Bone Dry Dunes hard sells this cup, even if Cloudpeak Cruise does its best to pick up the slack) 5. Super Circuit (Broken Pier sucks, not sorry Musty, Lakeside and BC4 are just good, and Rainbow Road does its best) 6. 7 (Rainbow Road doing some HARD backpacking) 7. 64 (Starts off well, but gets worse with each track) 8. Super Mario Kart (Has Vanilla Lake 2.)

I will predict Suer Circuit and Super Mario Kart is last and 7 and Wii are top two
i see its your first time here, welcome to the channel, pal
My rankings and one line of reasoning:
1. Wii (Zero low point, yes Moonview is peak)
2. Double Dash (Not as peak as Wii’s, but still fantastic)
3. DS (One low point in Wario Middium, but the rest of it is phenomenal, and we love Peach Gardens)
4. 8 (Bone Dry Dunes hard sells this cup, even if Cloudpeak Cruise does its best to pick up the slack)
5. Super Circuit (Broken Pier sucks, not sorry Musty, Lakeside and BC4 are just good, and Rainbow Road does its best)
6. 7 (Rainbow Road doing some HARD backpacking)
7. 64 (Starts off well, but gets worse with each track)
8. Super Mario Kart (Has Vanilla Lake 2.)
Please could you react to RyderKartDX's Mario Kart Tier List? I think it would be great content for the channel 😂
as of right now as im typing this, musty stopped talking about gba smk special cup so i am begging that wii's special cup is not in B tier or below.
🤭
@@Sir_Musty "WII AT 2ND!!! BUT MOONVIEW HIGHWAY CARRIES THE CUP!!!!!!!!!"
(this is entirely a joke. i get you hatred over it and I love moonview.)
