- I have always been disappointed when I come back to Melbourne from Japan. You just can't replicate the food here in Melbourne, but 279 Cafe comes strikingly close!
This is by far the most AUTHENTIC JAPANESE restaurant I have come across in Melbourne. Make sure you stop by here if you're in Melbourne, just a short walk from Queen Vic Market. Order the Crab Miso to bring you back to Tokyo while you're here down under!
Check out Shiranui, a Japanese restaurant hidden on Springvale Road in Glen Waverley. Been around for years.

279 is definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne
The only place that the crab dish tastes like extreme crab. Everything is so well done just like in Japan.
