      A lot of time and effort? How so? Copy & Paste the story from reddit into the text-to-AI-speech and slapping a mobile game or minecraft gameplay in the background.
      You even use AI to create the subtitles in a few clicks and seconds. So please explain how you spend so much time and effort on it???

      I don't drink alcohol. So, I quit eating out with some friends because they loaded up their drinks on my part of the bill. I asked for seperate checks and the restaurant wouldn't break up the bill. I said no problem, and quit hanging with them.
      I now eat out with folks who are non-drinkers, and aren't con artists. It works better for my piece of mind. And, I love cooking for them and having them over. They don't get drunk and make a mess of my place.

      Yup. This was exactly the reality-check he needed to realize that bending over backwards to appease greedy and/or cheap people like Greg and Susan is not the way to go. Bending over backwards for Greg and Susan only makes them feel more entitled to ordering the most expensive food and not having to pay for it.

    What you did was not immature. It was smart. Those 2 people are world-class moochers who got caught, for once. Hope your friend Dan learns from this. Next time you all get together, several of you need to make it plain that you will only be paying for what you order, and not splittling an unreasonable bill.

    • @alishiahampson3351

      Australia doesn't do separate checks unless you specify before hand like if youve booked a table in advance you can say its a table for 6 but there'd be 5 checks otherwise you have no choice but to spilt the bill

    • @picobello99
      @picobello99 2 месяца назад +3

      @@alishiahampson3351Why does the restaurant have to do this for you? You can split the bill however you want yourself at the table, as long as you have discussed this with your companions before you order. You can all pay the same amount, or everyone pays for what they've ordered. One person pays the entire check, then the others pay that person what they owe them.
      But then, I'm from the Netherlands. "Going Dutch" is in our blood. It doesn't mean the bill is always split evenly however. From my experience most people just pay for what they've actually ordered and people do this themselves as many restaurants refuse to split the bill. There're even apps to do the math and send payment requests.

    • @erichanastacio9695
      @erichanastacio9695 2 месяца назад +1

      The first part:
      They accounted for having the bill to be split six ways.... But it didn't happen. It was split in three.
      Second part:
      The price of the steak that they ate is more than they have paid for.
      2 steaks = 400 = 200 × 2
      Non-Steak = 50
      Total = 450
      Split 3 ways = 150
      Dan was pissed because he paid 150 instead of 50, or 75 if split 6 ways.
      The moochers were angry for paying 150 each and NOT 75. The two got 50 bucks discount each, instead of 125 bucks discount that they have wanted.

    Get some new friends. My guess is the two other people who canceled their orders and just had drinks will be getting some new friends soon, so the "blind" friend will be stuck with the two mooches anyway. So he'd better get used to those huge bills if he doesnt have the guts to dump the mooches.

  • @arthurvasey
    @arthurvasey 2 месяца назад +2

    Everyone should just order separately what they want - there’s often someone who, through no fault of their own, is on a limited budget which, if someone else is controlling it, won’t get them much and they might not be able to afford more than one course, while someone else might order the most expensive items on the menu and others are somewhere in between - unless the restaurant has a standard meal deal where you can get any starter, any main and any dessert for a tenner, plus hot beverage and a cold drink like beer or wine or fizzy drinks, it’s a bit much for people on a restricted not necessarily of their own making budget to have to find more than they have out of nowhere - everyone should be able to work to their own personal budget and get their own choice of food - but those who are on a budget controlled by someone who thinks that a few pennies is enough and refuses to make sufficient money available, even if they can afford to do so, that person should not be expected to produce additional money out of thin air - they only have limited funds - everyone should only get their own meal and not have to fund other people who order everything on the menu, but refuse to pay more than a set amount - everyone should ideally have full access to their own money and be able to order whatever they want and have the funds to pay for it - I ordered the fish and chips and that’s all I am paying for - I am not paying for smoked salmon and caviar! Restaurants should make a note of what each person orders and bill that person - not expect it to be split ten ways!
    You sometimes get parties of usually mixed adults and children (not necessarily parents) - the adults are in absolute total control over the situation and either make all the kids have the same thing whether they like it or not or skimp and do one between two because one each is “too expensive” on their limited, parent-provided budget - most restaurants would probably make them order one each or leave, as there’s no food sharing permitted - minimum one meal per person!

    This would never happen in my country, the Netherlands. No Dutch person would pay thát much more and we'll sure let them know.
    "Going Dutch" doesn't have to mean you're splitting the bill evenly. Most restaurants refuse to split the bill here, so we do it ourselves at the table. One person pays the check and the others pay that person. There're even apps to do the math and send payment requests. You can split the bill however you want: evenly or everyone pays for their own food and drinks. As long as you've come to an agreement before you order.
