Video just performed its purpose. I recently picked up an OF1400 and this helped set me straight on a few accessories.
    Thanks Festool!

Truly one of the best routers made for hand held use. Lots of power hidden by its smooth ramp speeds, meticulous machine work, and ease of operation. From the ratcheting collet to the ergonomic pistol grip, I have enjoyed using it every time it comes out of its stackable container. I have had the OF 1400 EQ for about 4 years now and have completed several projects including a custom hardwood kitchen and after 30 years of work working, am convinced that this is all one would ever need in a hand held router. Light enough to be easily maneuvered but with all the power one would need for free hand routing. If you need more power, you may want to consider using a router table with a Milwaukee 5625 fixed base stuffed in it. I have owned all of the so called competitors routers, and I can say unequivocally, this is the best free hand plunge router made and I trust it will last me for years to come.

Can you use the OF1400 with the table widener and the track guide? My concern is that the table widener is too thick to allow easy use without the track guide

Hi Peter, as you know I received the Festool OF 1400 router after seeing your videos and I have been using it for the last few days routing out mortise lock face plates and receivers in wooden doors. I must say this is the best router I have ever owned or used and I thank you for recommending it to me.
However I wondered if you could help me with something? - While using the router on a rebated door jamb I tried but failed to attach the router support onto the side of the router. I realize this attachment is designed to be used to balance the router when being used on the guide rail but it seems that the nob provided is too short to fix the support and I wondered if you had that problem? Also my router arrived with only two collets, the 8 mm was missing. Cheers Dan

Great video. The making of the rabbet using the edge guide was a little unclear.

Is this available in USA? Are the depth measurements in metric or SAE?

I know this is an old video. I love your products and your videos does a great job explaining your products. The MUSIC however is so annoying and repetitive I always have to mute your videos.

i dont think so, its exactly the same as making dados, just bring the router close to the edge of the board, thats why the fence has the cut out to allow the bit to go into the fence.

Festool must have a marketing department. It’s time you remove the silly music and have a human explain how to use your products.
