But as I said before, Ed Boon, the creator of the story, states that he intentionally made Liu Kang's moves easier to learn and perform. He was created to be the hero of the series. Johnny Cage was made as a Jean-Claude Van Damme parody. Though today it seems that neither are the main hero anymore and Raiden has now taken that role.

He says that they intentionally made all of Liu Kang's moves easy to do so that players could win with him because he's the main hero of the series until Deadly Alliance where he gets killed.
Shang Tsung's thoughts: "Damn, this guy is making me kinda nervous... I thought people from Hollywood didn't know martial arts, but this guy made everyone look like cake. I think it was a big mistake inviting him to my tournament."

If memory serves, a shadow must pass by the moon. If the condition wasn't met, then you can't face reptile. Now that I think of it, one of reptile's hints was "Look to la luna".
BlooditeDrakan you are right sir. there must be shadows passing through the moon. and I think in some versions of the arcade you have to do double flawless in all matches before the pit.
the ball breaker move requires the block button to be pressed.. any input of the block button fails the eligibility rules to fight reptile.. remember.. double flawless then fatality and no block input at all
Sonic598 You must also do the Pit fatality, if I'm right. Also, he might have did that on purpose because he was doing a speed run. Fighting Reptile would have taken extra time.

In case people are wondering, the reason no Reptile is because he did a stage fatality instead of a character specific one (i.e. decapitation).
