Hell yeah mate, I didn't have to do the work around because I have a fire stick. it accepted it and now my recordings will go directly to my USB drive. I can't tell you how hard I tried to do this AND failed. five stars on that one mate.

Must your external storage (usb disk) be added to the shield internal storage? Because i dont see my(usb disk) at all in file Explorer because is is added to the shield.
I will try this tomorrow. I have tried everything to record and nothing has worked since 2 updates. I have a 1TB hard-drive and it's almost empty. And I was able to record before. I'm hoping this works on my Shield and Tivimate I don't know what version I have. Thanks for the info.

When you have already done this and you have to go in and redo tivimate ... When you go select the same folder you have been recording to with all your old recordings it will not pull up the old recordings when you select them on Tivimate. It's like they are not there
I followed all the steps. However, when I try to record shows that are 160 minutes long, it stops recording after 86. My external hard drive is 1TB so storage space isn’t a problem. Any tips you have would be appreciated.
If your drive is formatted to fat32 then you can only record up to 4GB of video size before it stops. Fat32 cam only handle a maximum file size of 4GB. That's probs why it stops every 86 minutes. Try format the drive to NTFS that can handle way bigger files sizes.

WOW This worked for me....what a save thanks. Now Tivimate is perfect - it was the only thing missing. FYI did you know that you can record multiple TV streams at the same time. Try it out you'll be surprised. I was able to record three at the same time to my external USB.
Do you know what’s causing or an idea what’s causing an issue I’m having backing up data to external SD card or USB drive? I’ve even tried and it’s saying not found. And I’m trying to back up to a brand new SD card or flash drive and it’s saying failed to back up. Permission is set to allow for media and TV mate. Not sure what’s causing this. Thanks in advance
@OrganicMechanic80 has the device formated the usb itself? I'm no expert on tivimate even though I use it everyday. What device are you using tivimate on? I'm using the shield. Have you tried the other usb port? The one closest to ethernet port is what I use

The lack of 'system picker' on my Google TV Streamer is driving me mad! Having said that, the content:// path that's generated when you select it on your Shield is interesting. I'll try and see if there's some equivalent on the TV Steamer. I had tried /storage/10D0-4B53/Recordings (where the latter bit was the ID for the USB device) but this didn't work.
What file manager do I need in order to get that screen where you don't see the highlighted option move but you here it? I have an airmouse I can use to select the area I need

Hi, I can record to my external drive, but it buffers every 15-20 seconds (no buffering when not recording). The USB write speed is 400 mps - is that fast enough? what are the minimum external drive parameters for recording iptv? Cheers.
It's important to know that most !ptv providers allow only one connection on an account. When you are recording a program and watching another, buffering occurs because now you are using two connections on one account.
i am also not able to open system picker. it says "you don't have an app for that" . Unfortunately there seems to be no solution for that. I end up recording on my device storage and move to external hard drive manually.
@@ambarishranade I went with Formula android box it is a little pricey but to me it is well worth it, great remote plus it has its own Guide which you don't need Tivimate.

Do you have the one from play store or a mod apk you found online? It's legit you can create a backup then Uninstall, and reinstall them restore the backup.

I'm using an SSD drive connected to my Nvidia Shield. It took me weeks to finally get Tivimate to find a directory that recorded and played smoothly on the drive. Today I had to reset the Shield back to its factory settings and reinstall Tivimate all over and I'm back to square one again. I followed your video but despite being able to create a directory on my SSD drive, it doesn't have the directory volume on it. I just went through the whole process again and now once again I have a recording directory of content://com.android.externalsdtorage.documents/tree.primary%3AMore%A2. Still skipping and freezing when I try and record anything or watch anything while I'm recording. I don't understand why Tivimate can't fix this issue. Any suggestions or help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. What's really adding to the frustration is that Tivimate and the system picker hold the previous folders I created in memory, even though they no longer exist after deleting them or reformatting the drive. The system picker seems to think they're still there. There's no way to refresh the directory settings unless I completely uninstall and reinstall Tivimate all over again.
Ever since upgrading to 1.7 I can't get a video to play it stops and sends me to the main menu after 10 min. Really went down hill. Never had issues like this with previous builds of yours.

My shield doesn't stutter ..but my Onn box does when I set it to record on an SMB shared folder.

Multiple recordings can depend on the source, your internet and quality of stream. Any buffering can cause the recording to error and fail

Poor connection or any buffering will kill the recording. Is it saving any of its to your external drive?
For Tivimate I had a NAS Synology, activate SMB and your Network and settings Tivimate Recordings DVR in you path in the SMB in your NAS 😎👌

I formatted my harddrive to run externally and I saved my recording to it a diff way. It seems to be working
Formatting so shield can see it usually fixes issues.
