@6:40 You can adjust the preload on the rear shocks (3 settings?) which could help a little with ride height once seated. At the lowest setting you may be able to keep the balls of your feet on the pavement if that bike was set to the highest.
Hi, there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this scrambler 400x. I am debating between buying a Scrambler 400X and the 900. Since you hace tested both scramblers I woulld like to ask for your opinion, which I will apprecate very much. I will use the the motorcycle manly on the city, as my daily commuter on heavy traffic conditions. Some weekends I will drive it on narrow, curvy, mountain roads and, in very few ocassions, I will take it to gravel, very broken, step country roads. I am 5.6” tall, just like you, but 59 years old. I am getting older, not toller. Thus the 400x seems a little taller for me, thats the only concern I have regarding thta bike compared to the 900 (835 vs 790 mm seat higth). However, there are some interesting advantages of the 400x over the 900. The 400x has taller ground clearance; it also has inverted forks and longer travel suspension; 6 gears instead of 5; tubeless tires; led lights, grill protection for the front light, hand guards, and a conveniently located USB port. The 400X also has a more informative dashboard. Finally, the 400X cost much less than the 900. Assuming money is not a factor (just assuming) and given all the above, what could be your suggestion: Should I get the 400X or the 900? I will appreciate your input very much.
Hi, there. Sorry for the delay in responding to your message. I bought the Scrambler 900. Most of my riding is urban, and I feel more confident on traffic being able to plant both my feet on the ground. The 900 is also very versatile for filtering in traffic, it feels light, but has a lot of torque on low and mid revolutions that I find quite suitable for urban riding. These advantages are even more sounding when you drive with a pillion. The Bonneville is also a time tested, reliable and trusted engine. There are also some other features that are more aesthetic and appealing to me, like the incredible rumble of the exhaust and the classic styling of the bike. No doubt the 400X is an excellent and beautiful machine; but for me, and the kind of riding I use this bike for, the 900 is a better option.
After 40 yrs in the saddle with some serious back issues this is perfect and if it were more off-road capable I’m liable to get involved with things I shouldn’t so I’ll take the mag wheels
This Triumph 400X captured my eyes last night on a Motor show at the Central Square, BGC. I was passing by from the Circuit pero worth it na nagdaan ako at natiempuhan ko ang moto show. I will buy this soon. Royal Enfield Himalayas seems to be bulkier than Triumph Scrambler 400X ❤❤❤❤
Great video overall! For daily commuting, between the 400X & the Interceptor, which one do you think is better set out of the factory? Stay strong, ride on!
Great review man! Yes, bike looks classic! Being 400cc, what is the max speed it can achieve? Does the handlebar vibrates above 100km/h? or does it vibrate at all? In your opinion, does the pillion seat comfortable for long distance riding?
Spoked wheels, high exhaust und height adjustable suspension... I do have a few complaints about it... but if they fix all these issues it is worth it... biggest competitors Royal Enfield Himalyan and KTM 390
I'd like them to use the same engine in a mini cruiser type bike, like the RE Meteor 350. Us old guys like comfort 😂. And heel and toe shifters should be more of a thing in every day bikes in places like Thailand where you wear light shoes. It's a major reason why i bought a Meteor tbh.
The pillion comfort is horrible though. Dont know about the Speed. But my riding buddy bought the Scrambler and pillions were really feeling all the bumps. Rider comfort was brilliant though.
spoke wheels? WHY? more problems, and almost NOONE maintains their own tires anymore, if you want it, you a probably just looking at nostalgia. BTW, if you are inclined to do your own tire changes you know that it can be done easier with cast wheels....just my opinion.
A spoked rim can be easily repaired in case the rim gets damaged because a few spoke my bent and can be changed. An alloy rim will break and will need to replaced. This is why off road motorcycles use them as they are prompt to fall often. The issue with spoked rim is to get tubeless tires on them. Tubeless tires are much safer on the road as they deflate slowly. But those are expensive . Triumph should offer them as aftermarket accessories
@@Alsinsin The owner of the patent for spoked tubeless tyres charges a hefty royalty. In this category it would cost 25% of the bikes cost extra. For trail riding this is enough.
Should be able too yeah it depends on your leg lengh though if you have a 32 inch or 81.2 cm inseam you should be able to flat foot it just fine. I watched a women ride the 400x and she could flat foot it easily she said she was 175cm or 5' 9'' I think her inseam length was 32 inches long give or take.
With the Road Conditions and Pot holes in the Philippines , the Triumph 400X would probably be an Idea Bike for a Foreigners First Motorcycle in the Provinces, I currently Ride the Kawasaki Dominar with Side and Top Boxes , Dominar Cost about 209,000 Pesos which is about 180,000 Pesos cheaper than the Triumph 400X.

Great roads around Silverlake aren't they? Lovely twisties.
should be ok with me. I'm 5'6" as well but my inseam is 32 inches. His inseam is 30inches. I'm keen on considering this bike.
32" ? seems unlikely at 5'6"

I think you can lower this bike by around half an inch when you changed the wheels from 100/90 to 110/80 on front and 140/80 to 150/70 on rear

What's wrong with spoke wheels? Are they flimsy and easily damaged compared to cast wheels?
So what is the actual function of spokes?

not a review of any kind just a lot of general descriptions with no technical explanations. "It's really smooth, pretty good, I like it" etc.
